For a $600 product I woulda at least thought Sony woulda been nice enough to put some anti-scratch shit on the PS3 so it wouldn't scratch so easy. It's already bad enough it's smudge galore, and when we wipe it leaves scratches. I already have a big ass line across above the PS3 logo now, thanks Sony

I used a anti-scratch lint free cloth like the PSP and it still scratches it! Piss!
Any stuff out there that can remove scratches kind of like those desktop scratch removers (or stuff they sell at Apple Store to remove scratches for Apple Laptops and iPods and stuff)?

The material is relatively soft, so even if you use microfiber and there's rather large dust particles on it, it's gonna scratch. Probably a ruse to get the OCDs out there to shell out for a new "unscratched" system.

Why didn't you get the upgraded exterior shell PS3 for $900?

I'm really considering looking into the vinyl system skins for sale on eBay right now because I fear this very thing. Is that a good idea, or are system skins kind of a shitty/unnecessary thing to buy?

Well if it scratches that easily won't installing the skin cause a ton of scratches? And removing the skin would reveal a really scratched up system!

Personally I think system skins look cheap, but that's just me. I know lots of people like them. Just get something nice, not like the X360 skin I saw the other day with the flaming skulls.

No, it would be something in a single color, and probably redundant, like glossy black. I just don't want the fucking thing to get scratched all over. It's like the whole system is the bottom of a Playstation 1 disc.
Can you imagine what these things will look like used?

Well, I'm sure it'd be fine if you had just set it up and left it alone.

Who's staring at their consoles all day? Just put that shit away in an entertainment center or something and you will never be bothered by it.

Y'all so uptight you don't get dust in your homes? ;)

If I can't see it, it doesn't exist! I'm loving these new consoles because the only evidence that I'm playing video games is the controller - doors to entertainment center are closed and there are no wires hanging out or anything. Very high WAF.

I have been licking my PS3, and not 1 single scratch yet. :)

The type of cloth isn't the problem. If there are like 4 minor specks of debris or dirt on the PS3, and you take a soft cloth to wipe the PS3, the 4 specks will carry over and scratch the entire system. I wish they would have made the damn thing in matte black, the same with the PSP. Glad to know I'm not the only one anal about these sorts of things.

I just use a feather duster and I have 0 scratches.

Well maybe us people who paid $600 for it want it to be PERFECT!!

I agree, and glad to know I'm not the only one with scratches on the PS3.

Oh no, I don't own one yet (well I do but I'm not sure whether to keep it or sell it). But I've seen the damage that was done to my friend's PSP so I know what its like. When he first got it, he rubbed it with the included cloth everyday and now it looks like he used sand paper. I wish Sony would wisen up and release matte black versions.

Would the ipod scratch removers work on the ps3?
