I don't know if this deal is nationwide or what but tonight I went to the Target in Hadley, MA and La Pucelle Tactics was only $19.99. I did a complete double take when I saw it.

My Target has about 3 copies left. I know there are some other CAGs in this area. Hurry and pick it up! :)

Good news--the UPC iI printed from that barcode site scanned at 19.99.
Good news--when I asked him to scan the game itself, it scanned at 19.99, even though the shelf tag said 49.99.
Bad news [for everyone but me]--I got the last one on the shelf. Would have picked up 2 to share the wealth, but there was only one. They may of course have more in the back or whatnot, but no more on the shelf as of about 40 minutes ago.
They may have just looked at the price on the shelf to give you the 'scanned price.'
Oh yeah--and thanks to the OP for this deal. 20 bucks [21.79 or so after Taxman gets his hands out of my pocket] is a no brainer.

And the sales droid at my Target didn't bat an eye when it rung up at 19.99. I had to ask him to get it out, even though I was standing there and looking very intently in the game rack. I said 'Can I see a game?' 'Which game?' 'La Pucelle.' "WHAT?" Um, La Pucelle Tactics, this one right here *point*.

Have you other folks in Raleigh ever had any luck at Ed McKay's? I've only been there once in the past couple years, went to the one next to Buy Rite [Hey! Why doesn't someone go check there?] and didn't have any luck for anything. And between joining book clubs and the Wake Country Library Book Sale, I can't make myself buy new or lightly-used books anymore.
And the fact that McKay's is about 40 minutes from me....

Ed McKay's is fuckin awesome. I got Mega Man X2 and X3 for 20 bucks total and Secret of Mana before for 7. I usually pick up guides from there for cheap as well, got RE:Outbreak, Paper Mario, and FFTA guides for 12 total.

Newer stuff has crappy prices, but SNES and Genesis stuff is priced pretty cheap.

Have you guys been to the library's book sale? It's chaotic, but any bookstore I can go to seems anticlimactic after that. Depends also on what you're into, of course.

I'm not really in the market for SNES/Gen games, so that might be part of it. Last time I was there, I did browse them, to see if I had any rarities, and I was pretty impressed with their prices on those.

Think about it. This game is for hardcore gamers. I don't think that is the typical game-purchaser at Target (besides us looking for clearence or rain check games). Most people purchasing a game at Target are parents or casual gamers. Thus, Target probably sold 0 of these before this deal so they are bailing and clearencing them out right away. Just my opinion, but it makes sense to me.

Yeah, I picked up a couple of games at the one in LIC. The only thing they had at the one on QB was the Star Wars game. Totally not worth it.

A good Target for deals is the one on Gateway Drive off the Belt, but now with my new job I can't ever get out there.

Technically, continuity wise, this game comes before Disgaea. But it wasnt released until after Disgaea because that one was considered the better and more refined game. When it turned out there was a market for it, La Pucelle got released. If you enjoy these, be on the lookout for the next in the "series", Phantom Brave.

Was the game in the glass case or out in the other shelf that's open? If it wasn't in the glass case, try to take it to a regular register (non electronics dept register) and a regular cashier probably won't know about the error.

An update on my situation: I called up a manager and explained my problem. After he talked to the electronics manager he called me back, backing the electronics guy's story that it was a UPC error, Target's cost on the game was $30, but he'd be willing to sell to me at $30.

I went in, planning to buy a copy or 2 at $30 and then try to return and repurchase them for $20 in a couple days. Well, before I go talk to this manager, I punch the La Pucelle Target code into the scanner, and it showed up at $19.99. Now, I had done the same thing last night and this morning, and it showed $49.99 then. It was not a UPC error -- I thought, if that excuse was legit, that scanning the UPC would point to another Target code. Not the case.

I showed the manager how La Pucelle ran up for $20 in the scanner, and explained that it didn't last night -- however unlikely since they're taking a loss, it's definitely a price drop. He sold me two of them without any more hassle.

I would stil reccomend getting in on it while you can. Even if it is a price drop and not an error, they won't last long at that price. is no other store besides target dropping the price on this game? for everyone that checked the price on la pucelle, was the yellow price tag marked at 19.99? if so, that should be a permanent price. if it was on a special tag that says "temporary price cut" or something else along those lines, then the markdown is unfortunately limited.

wasn't la pucelle released a long time ago? as a target employee, i picked up several copies of this, hoping that it would be an error in my favor, but is it possible that 20 might be the going price on this game now? i really hope not.

When I went to go buy the game, the employee acted like a smartass saying, "dude, the price is right there. I'm pretty sure that how much it is." I insisted that he still checked it despite his bitchy attitude.

They were $19.99 and there were about 2 left over at a Las Vegas Target on the east side of town.
