PS2 Component Video cables

I saw on another message board's forums that the component cables from the PS2 will work on the PS3? Anyone know if there is any truth to this? I have monster cables for the PS2 (got them cheap so no need to reinstute the debate on their value) that I would love to use with the PS3. I haven't had the time to even open my 20 gig yet, so it may be able to be hooked up with regular component cables. Any help is appreciated.

Well, my system should be here in a few minutes and I have PS2 cables that I am planning on using with it, so I guess I can let you know how it worked out later.

Cool, I'd appreciate it. It would certainly take out the sting of them not being provided when I've already dropped $550 on a system.

^ Yep, thats how mine is hooked up, Component from PS2. Looks fantastic, my HDMI port is being used by my HD DVR, and my TV isn't 1080p anyway, just 720p/1080i.

lol i still have my monster cables from my ps2 and it works great with the ps3 :)
