I agree with most of them. Some are arbitrary though. My main one is based on the lack of multitasking and the ocassional syncing problems with the contoller. I'm sure some have felt it before.

Good stuff to consider for potential PS3 buyers like myself.

The only real one is the controller thing. Is that a real issue? Could it be caused by people with other wireless networks going? I plan to just use it as a wired pad (my understanding is the bluetooth radio shuts off and it actually uses USB), but this could be a bad issue.
I like that they do actually point out that the 360 had some of the same flaws at first-most lists like these conviniently forget that!
The Wii list is more serious IMO. It starts off with the VC games getting tied to a single console thing. I'm seriously thinking of skipping Wii because VC games were a big draw for me. I was more interested in getting Bonk and Toe Jam & Earl than any of the announced Wii games, but Nintendo's DRM is so draconian I won't touch it.

Which aspect of the VC games troubles you? They may be tied to a single console (did you really expect them to allow you share them with friends?) but that doesn't mean that you will lose them all if your console breaks.

I'm not getting this - if the games are a big draw for you why are you skipping it? The only reason I can see that it would be necessary to move your VC games to another system would be because it breaks or because you want to play those games at a friend's house. If the Wii breaks I think Nintendo already said you would be allowed to download the games you already paid for. As for the friend's house thing - yeah that sucks but is it really a big enough deal to warrant not buying the entire system?

Because those are the only big draw for me right now, and I'm not some chump who's willing to give in to draconian DRM.

Or because you want the "Wii SP" or a different color or whatever. I already emailed Nintendo and got a long explanation back saying the ONLY way to have games transfered is if you get the unit repaired through Nintendo. For consoles, I'd much rather just spend the extra $20 or whatever and get a new unit over a refurb. Not possible with the Wii.

Yeah you will unless you get Nintendo to repair it, and console repairs seldom make any sense (except early in the system's life when it's expensive maybe).

I'm worried about transferring VC games cause I intend to buy my own Wii in the future, but for now me and my bro share one, and I'd like to transfer VC games I've paid for to my own console. I have no idea how Nintendo is going to handle this, but I'm sure there's a way hopefully. If not, ah well, it's not going to kill me.

If that's the case, then it's the first time I've heard it. It's not good news, if true. I had assumed that it would be possible to transfer your account from one console to another without having to physically give the machine to Nintendo. It seems like a colossal blunder not to have that functionality.

Thus, XBOX LIVE has trumped the Virtual games then. The whole GamerTag thing is great.
Also, what are the top 10 complaints? I cannot access at work

Yeah Wii games should be tied to a person's account rather than the machine so that you can redownload them and limit the download to a certain amount of times, say like 3. Sure they might lose some to shady people replicating, but big whoop, these games didn't really cost them that much to stick on VC anyway.
But yeah back to the PS3. using it wired is a bad idea for me, The Cord they give you is relatively short and using wired in this gen really sucks. I've never had any communication problems with my wireless ps2 logitech, Xbox 360 or Wii controllers. The PS3 definetly has something Wonky going on.
For the year or so i've had the Xbox 360 It's NEVER desynced on me like the ps3 has.
Multitasking, controller Desyncing, Handshake issues, and Custom soundtrack support are the biggest complaints for this console from me.
For the console not including HD-capable cables was just a big mistake on Sony's part. Despite the fact that you can get an HDMI cable cheap, you don't go around prancing the superiority of your console's HDness and then not include a damn cable that can show HD.

I thought so too. I'm completely shocked by their response.
I just assumed everyone would use the iTunes model. Microsoft and Steam use variants on that. I still hate them, but I guess I'm willing to put up with that sort of thing for games I really want (ie the VC games). But I'm not stupid enough to buy games tied to a single system.

Yeah, though I don't like how you can't change what email address is associated with your Gamertag. And I've already lost one gamertag because I didn't log in to the hotmail account often enough. So it's not great either. I'm hoping Sony does better (it wouldn't be hard!), but I'm not holding my breath for them either.

I'd still like more of a confirmation that just an email from an anonymous Nintendo drone, though. One guy in England was told that the Wii was region free by a Nintendo rep, but we all know that's not true.

Some of those PS3 complaints are quite valid. Luckily, they are also mostly fixable via software updates.
I got the Memory Card Adapter before the publication of that article - it's not everywhere, but neither are Wii accessories. It's all a crapshoot in the holiday season. Now, because they complained about availability, they don't know the major complaints about the actual memory card adapter:
1) You can only copy entire memory card files to your PS3. You can't select certain save files to copy and ignore the rest. You can't even read a memory card that's inserted into the adapter. You must copy them over, *then* copy single game saves onto one memory card image and delete the old image files. Unless you want half a dozen images you don't need
2) You can't copy from the PS3 to the memory card adapter. Your PS1/PS2 gamesaves *can't leave* your system at all. Fuck that shit.

I guess I should try it. If you can, then at least that means that your saves aren't locked to the console -- you just can't put them back onto a PS2.

hmmm after more testing I think the charge on the controller does affect the sync. A low charge controller will desync much more often.
Good thing they're using Li-Ion batteries so you don't have to worry about draining them all the time

To answer my own question, yes you can. I just tried it. Although at first I was confused because I was trying to copy a whole card and there is no option for that. But you can copy individual saves to a flash memory card.

That means it'll be easy to trade Playstation 1, 2, Portable, and 3 saves over the net, which is kind of neat :)
It'll be really handy for games like RPG Maker or stuff like that with user content.
