Well I can't answer the poll because i haven't lived close to an arcade for years. But I guess when I was a kid i was an arcade "noob" and I always found it hilarous when these so called "arcade masters" got all pissed cuz I beat them in a Tekken match. Driving games were the best cuz I always had a knack for those even though I didn't like it. So sometimes I'd beat some wannabe hotshot at SF Rush just for the hell of it.

the only arcade around here is in the mall and the only fighting game is teken 3 and it costs 1 dollar to play
None of your choices apply to me. I often found (I can only relate to this thread if I draw upon -distant- past experiences) that it was the little weiners who had to reach up to get at the controls who could finally kick me off. It was the other guys my age or older that I would feel sorry for and let win round 2. Actually, I remember thinking that I was being subtle in doing so until some guy I didn't know announced out of the blue,"You don't have to go easy on me in this [second] round." Guess I wasn't as smooth as I thought.. :P

ditto, some of those "little" guys were damn good. i usually get no competion with ppl same age, esp. kids who were older. im talking king of fighter 94, tekken, vfighter 1 days. during street fighter 1 i was one of those little runts, but i aways got my ass kicked.

I guess it's the fact that most people don't have an arcade close to them, but I totally own everybody. My favorite encounter is when i find a person who has been playing for good amount of time and in about two seconds put them down making them run tio the change machine as if more money is what they need to defeat me. the only games a don't own truly yet are racers, but i'm getting there. Oh this brings back great memories about my Street Fighter days. Used to own anybody and everybody, won a couple of non major tourneys too.

This is one of my favorite arcade experiences. It was back when Killer Instinct first came out and I must have been in the 4th grade. Anyway, I was playing Killer Insinct, using my small Street Fighter 2 knowledge, and up walks a guy who must have been in his mid-20's. He has a stack of quarters, probably 2 dollars worth, and he has a cheat sheet with moves and combos. So we start fighting and I kicked his ass every single match. After the final match, I felt sorry and made up some story about how I had to go and let him play my game. Man, that guy sucked.

The only arcade game I usually play versus in is DDR and it's a mix between sometimes playing better than my opponent or my opponent playing better than me.

My story relates to Tromack's, but the other way around. I was like 12 years old playing Killer Instinct in my local arcade, and I spent like $5 (Keep in mind that was alot of money to a kid back then) trying to beat a bunch of mid 20's guys.
They were nice to me and tried to show me how to do combos, but showed me no mercy none the less.
So I don't show any kids mercy, cause none was given to me. But compitition isn't what it used to be. No one plays fighting games anymore.

Isn't that all that's at arcades anymore?
Shooters [Time Crisis type games], fighters, DDR, and racers? Occassionally I'll run into an arcade that has a Retro game way in the back, or one of the 'unique' games like Ambulance or that truck driving one.
Sigh...I remember plunking tokens into Amidar, Kangaroo, and Moon Patrol....and getting that Red Token out of the machine which you could trade in for 10.00 in tokens...

nuff said? not really... double perfect w/o using special moves is just lame. y would you just move forward and back and press 6 buttons? it takes away the whole experience playing an arcade. and your nba jam opp must of sucked ass.
n i believe this is a opion thread not bragging thread. did you answer the op's question?...

have any of you ran into an all retro arcade machine? it has like 40 games in it and titles vary from street fighter 1~3, capt commando, the first revolver arcade game and such. that machine brought back some fond memories of asking "mommy" for more quarters.

I hate arcade controls. Most fighting game enthusiasts swear up and down that the arcade control stick is far superior to a gamepad, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I can own anybody I know on MvC2 when I play on my X-Box, but at the arcade I have a hard time pulling off a simple air combo. So I generally go with everything I got unless the kid is really young, because if I don't I'll probably lose.

Whoa, back up and take that stick out of your ass. The poll is about playing against people who suck/noobs in the arcade and I shared a couple experiences. Hope I didn't hit a sore spot or something  :P

hold up... *slide k done, no harm done.
Caseyryback: yea the different street fighters were nicely done, but goddamn SF 1 is sooo damn hard to play... the controls are way messed up, you'd pull a hurnia before you pull a hadoken. but damn i remember when it first came out. it was soooo originial!
