The thread title can be changed if somebody is deeply offended. Maybe (No.)

Anyway, the waiting game continues. I can't wait for Christmas break since I'll finally be able to play against some fairly legitimate people again in games like Melty Blood. That will be very nice. In terms of actual games, my official "Must Have Right Away" list is looking like: Virtua Fighter 5, Hokuto no Ken, Samurai Shodown Collection, and Fatal Fury Collection 2.

is this really the 21st one? whoa.

continued from the other thread:

Regarding Tekken 5: DR on PS3.

I definately don't think there will be endings at all. 800 MB? From 3.59 GB arcade size to 800 MB. I'm guessing that will be a nope.

Maybe they compressed it.

they did that with Small Arms and Robo Blitz on XBL.

That SamSho collection is going to be HOT! I can't wait. I'll hold off on VF5 until I get a PS3 sometime in 2008. But then again, every few weeks I get an itch to play some Virtua Fighter. Maybe I'll just buy a copy of VF5 and bogart my buddy's PS3.

I'm very happy with my 360 right now but Virtua Fighter 5 is enough reason to buy myself a PS3.

I'm feeling like there's little to no future for fighting games on the next gen. All I can think of is Soul Calibur 4 and Virtua Fighter 5. I have no hopes for anything from Capcom and feel like Sony and Microsoft would never allow SNK pushing 2d games on their power house consoles...

Looks like there'll be more on handhelds and PS2 than the new consoles.

Got SC2 for the Xbox today. It feels way better than SC3. It's like a tighter, faster version of SC1. The Xbox controller also feels a lot like the DC pad.

I watched the first minute of that VF 5 video and wow, does Sega not have any original ideas left?

El Blaze is like a male version of La Mariposa almost EXACTLY... the dude is even black too!!!

Then there is that little kid who looks like Eliot with black hair.

I remember in VF 4 we got the two Tekken ripoff's, and now this.

Wow, Jacky almost looks like Paul Phoenix now, nice hair there.

VF is a fun series but wow, their character design, when it's not rip-off's, is completely bland.

I agree 100%

I always say the worst thing about VF is the character design.

ps: change the thread title! UMK is a fantastic game that people don't give enough of a competitive chance. I used to think it was terrible and lame, but one of my buddies convinced me to try it and it got me hooked. <3333 UMK

I was originally not going to change the thread title, but I had my fun by taking a potshot at UMK 3 which... still isn't a good game. You also had a great Regalsin quote in your sig, so I was compelled by law to change it.

I agree with everyone else. The character design in VF, was my least favorite part of the entire series.

I hope after Christmas, I'll be buying up a lot of the 2-D fighters that I didn't get earlier this year. I've been thinking about Melty Blood and KOF XI a lot as of late. I want to pick up GGXX Slash, but with Accent Core sometime down the line, I may hold off.

So when exactly is Tekken 6 for PS3 coming out? As much as I enjoy VF, I can't justify dropping $500-600 to play it.

Tekken 6 is why I plan to get a PS3... other than that, I don't really care. Tekken 6 to me is worth the $600 price tag. VF5 is secondary and MGS4 is a nice icing to the cake.

Does the 360 even have any more fighting games on the way at this point? Or has the PS3 stolen everything away already? Tekken 6 and VF5 are huge, but maybe there's something other than DOA I'm forgetting on the 360... (XBLA games don't count.)

It dosen't matter if the PS3 stole it away already... I'd rather have one online fighter where I can at least get some (good) compeition than 5 fighters that are only playable offline.

I don't care how good Tekken 6 or VF 5 are, when there is no one to play them against except my sucky ass friends they lose their appeal really quickly.

Not my fault developers are retarded and don't adapt their games to work online... I think if fighters went online the whole genre would be revitalized.

no. sucks too, because my 360 is now a WMV player. pretty much done with DoA4, SF2 and UMK3 and I've beaten the few must-play 360 games. I need some games that I can play forever...probably won't happen till Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out.

I've got Gears of War and COD 3 to go through, but my 360 has literally been a paper weight for the entire semester. Completely worthless.

For VF, I played as Akira and Liu Bei (or whatever the Shaolin Kung-Fu guy's name was.) The Shaolin guy reminded me a lot of Nightmare from Soul Calibur (my prime character for that game) because he has all those different stances... Akira is a lot more natural to play as though.

Finished gears, still play online occasionally, but FPS (or 3rd person that is similar to an FPS...) just isn't in my blood. I considered getting Splinter Cell, until I tried the demo. That game is a slideshow.

Bonus rant: I don't freaking get it...all these people are hot about HD graphics, go on and on about their extravagant 1080p set ups and all that, rave about how good the graphics are in games like SC, but then I try them out for myself and they all run at a very unstable 30fps with bad dips when you adjust the camera!

anyway, Akira, eh? I could never figure that guy out. Aoi is about as technical of a character that I can handle. I've played with her for a couple years (not intensely) and still feel like I don't know half of what's going on in VF.

Me too.

I want a Tekken 5 style or SC3 story mode for individual character stories, an arcade crawl/item collect mode fro, VF4:Evo, create-a-fighter with a tales of souls type mode just for that character type (Ninja, monk, etc. get different stories, with branching paths and what not, natch), and the other normal modes. I also would love to be able to use the special conditions found in the weapon master mode in SC2 in regular fights.

Plus online play, of course.

Basically, take SC2, add in the CAS from SC3, add the arcade crawl from VF4:evo (with items), add special conditions in fights, and put it online.

Aoi, Sarah, and strangely enough Akira.

Back before Aoi I used to play with Lion as well.

Looking quite forward to Eileen and El Blaze, looks like they'll be very fun characters. I just hope they get "lucha libre" right, it's a lot more about acrobatics, speed, and evasive action, with hard hits and grapples for the offense...so hopefully they won't make him the typical slow slow slow clumsy wrestler type.

Hmm, all this SC2 discussion is making want to break out my copy for PS2. I still have a bunch of missions to do and weapons to buy. It's been too long since I've played some of that.

This reminds me of one of my worst fighting game memories... my birthday, 2002... I was all hyped up to play some Soul Calibur on DC with by brother and sister. I fired up the DC, but then low and behold - the save file was corrupted! I was so mad, I pretty much had all the stuff unlocked. The silver lining of this was that it was fun to unlock everything again.

Anyway we ended up playing tons of Worms World Party instead... not a bad thing at all. :D

Splinter Cell runs fine for me. And the graphics to look amazing in HD not as good as Gears though. Maybe it was just the demo that had the inconsistent frame rate. Anyway I'm happy I held off on a PS3. I was going to get one at launch and did but sold it off. The profit was to tempting. I will pick one up as soon as Tekken and Virtua Fighter come out though.

I feel lucky that I didn't overload on DOA4 when it was released. I played it a lot at first, since it was one of the few 360 games I had, but stopped shortly after. I still enjoy the single player, the online CAN be fun, but overall its filled with lag and the players that don't lag are all ranked A and higher. Most people I notice online are outside the U.S with crazy rankings.

I didn't play SF online as much as I thought I would, probably because everyone uses the same characters. I just got UMK3 last night, so I'm always up for embarassing myself if anyone is interested. I suck at MK.

Just curious, to unlock all the costumes in Time Attack (also to unlock Tengu), I have to beat the game with a full 2 rounds per character?

I forget if you could do 1 round for costumes...gamefaqs says you need default settings for them. I unlocked most of them through story mode (which I played on VH.) I'm pretty sure you can do 1 round for Tengu, but not 100%. in other words, I'm of no help, sorry ;)

speaking of DoA, I threw in DoA4 for the first time in months yesterday and almost beat an S rank hayabusa player who had well over 50 wins in a row. I played him twice and both times I got 2 rounds (out of 3), got him down to one hit, then lost.

It was ridiculous and it really brought the feeling back to the game for me. I broke my headset with the controller on accident after losing the second time.

I completely forgot that I can buy a lot of the costumes through "Zack's Shop" online, making the achivement a little less painful.

actually, I'm proud of it due to me being able to minimize my collection every 3 months getting rid of stuff I know I don't need or won't touch for the rest of my life. Some things are exceptions due to how attached I am to the games.

MARKMAN, when is that particular Hori stick going to be released? I already have a custom stick, but I've been in the market for a 2nd stick for people who come over to play.

Also since I've been on a DOA 4 binge as of late, I'm going to ramble a little.

Playing online is fun but really annoying. When people lose, they get all hurt and voice their opinions over their headsets. I chose not to wear mine when I played two other people, but as their rankings dropped and the losses kept ringing up, they kept making excuses. I am not amazing at this game by any means, but I am very happy that I was able to rank up to a B- this morning.

Excuses that were heard:

"He plays as the same character, that's stupid"
"He does the same thing over and over again"
"I used to be an S ranked, but I haven't played in a month (now ranked B-)"

If I find that I am good with one character at the moment, why not stick with that person. I am slowly learning how to play as both Hitomi and Helena on the offline play, but I am not confident enough yet to play as both on a consistant basis. As for doing the same thing over and over again, most if not all high ranked players would counter me to death once they figure out my patterns/combos. Keep in mind both people I played against this morning were B ranked.

Also how do you drop from a S rank to a B- rank without playing? I would think that you might be a little rusty after not playing DOA4 for a month, but if you achieved a S rank at one time, well you don't really forget how to play right?

Rant over. :)

I do realize it's a little harder to get back into things if you haven't played in a while, but part of me just felt like it was an excuse. I agree with what you are saying about remembering tactics and so on. I hadn't played in a really long time and I was getting rusty with Christie. I was forgetting a couple of her launchers and was playing in an impatient way sometimes. Didn't take my time to confuse my opponent with staggering/slow combos.

So it is possible to to drop in rankings from not playing for a while, but during the entire time I played this one player, they didn't counter me. Is that normal?

But having absolutely no one to play with sucks hardcore.

but wasn't an upgraded MI2 announced for the 360? or did it get changed into the arcade title?..... >_<

I'm calling BS... SNK hates K9999 and he was retconned out of the storyline completely, last I heard.

It is highly likely that K9999 has been retconned out of KOF canon, as the NESTS plot summary found in KOF 94 Re-Bout completely skips over K9999.

For a while, it was believed that Eolith (developer of KOF 2001 and 2002) held the copyright for K9999. As it turns out, this is not the case. SNK, however, has expressed public disfavor for K9999, presumably due to the explicitness of his tribute to Tetsuo. It is unlikely he will appear in the future.

No way SNK will pull a 180 and throw him back in the game.

And Metal Slug team? Cmon... no freaking way this is true. Last I heard, the MI universe was completely seperate from KoF canon, it was its own self contained world - this would be blurring everything together.

See:

The Maximum Impact series has been confirmed to be set in an alternate universe by Falcoon. This does mean that they can take liberties and bring back dead characters from the main 2D series, but these changes will not be reflected back on to the 2D series (Alba and co will not appear in the next 2D KoF for example). Falcoon has mentioned that his intentions with MI are purely to create a fun game.

With that and Tekken Dark Resurrection coming out within a month of each other (well damn close to it) I'm really happy that I have my PS3 right now. Now to swallow the costs and buy a 2nd controller

MarkMan

No online play for VF5. VF Team and Tekken team don't want any of their fighters going online at all.

VF5 will not have any online aspects at all, not even online ranking or anything like that. But good news is, it will be based off VF5 revision B. The latest one.

And yes VF5 will have quest/kumite and all that jazz seen in VF4 and VF4 EVO.

Thanks guys about the Reload online status, sounds horrible.

One question out of boredom, what peripherals do you guys use these days for fighting games? Controller/Pad, Arcade Stick, or even keyboard? And what model/brand you guys use?

I've been trying to transfer from nothing to a T5 stick when playing GGXXSlash, and I'm starting to get it down, but I still have some insecurities to get rid of. Also once tried using keyboard when all I had was Reload on the computer, I just couldn't use it at all.

I know I'll hear people call me a scrub but I'm actually more comfortable with a pad. I like to be able to move around a little when I'm playing. The only games I like to use a stick with are Tekken 5 and Virtua Fighter 4.

Nothing scrubby about a pad at all. Use whatever you can "own up" best with.

With me I prefer pad for certain characters while playing Tekken(such as Paul/Feng), and I need stick for other characters(King/Mishimas)...

At $30 - yes. In my mind it would be worth it at $50 - but alot of graphics whores would say no - because of it's simple anime inspired style.
I like that it has no meters. - As someone who has done some "real life" sparring - I can say I never noticed a glowing bar over my opponent's head that let me know how much stamina he had left.

Hell, I'd take 5.0 over DR, but that doesn't mean that I'm not licking my lips in anticipation for DR to be released on the PS3 network. It just means that I really like 5.0 for it's time, and that I don't really think DR added much except for a few rad stages. I don't like Lili or Drag, and I think they kinda ruined Armor King. bryan fury is a hard as fuck guy to get in real life... at least they did the costumes pretty good and that's the best Jin Kazama in real life i've seen i a while.

as for DR:

Lili = power whore

Dragunov = needs to be more developed

A. King = see Dragunov

it's a good start and definitly shows where Tekken 6 can go... and by then the new characters will be fully fleshed out... There almost on the same level (oddly a bit higher level) of development as the SCIII characters... SCIII characters like Tira and others seemed like they needed a bit more development before the game shipped.

SEGA ANNOUNCES VIRTUA FIGHTER 5 FOR XBOX 360

Premiere Fighting Game Franchise Makes First Appearance on Microsoft’s Next Generation Videogame Console

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (December 21, 2006) – SEGA of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced that the highly anticipated arcade fighting game, Virtua Fighter™ 5, will make its way onto the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system. Virtua Fighter™ 5 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360™ in North America and in Europe during late summer 2007. The game will also be available for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system on February 20th, 2007 in North America and will be available in Europe simultaneously with the system’s launch in March 2007.

“Those people lucky enough to have already played Virtua Fighter™ 5 will know that it’s laid the foundations to become the clear benchmark for fighting games on all next generation consoles”, said Matt Woodley, Creative Director, SEGA Publishing Europe Ltd. “Bringing Virtua Fighter™ 5 to the Xbox 360™ offers us a platform with power to handle the astonishing visuals, the complex and varied fighting styles of all the customisable characters and will undoubtedly put Virtua Fighter™ 5 into the hands of a gaming audience craving for a highly polished and credible fighting game.”

Virtua Fighter™ 5 features beautifully detailed stages from around the world where players face off in fast-moving martial arts battles against one of 17 characters. Two lively new characters join the elite group of fighters, adding two new unique fighting styles for players to try and master. With more skill and strategy than ever before, players are also given the opportunity to learn and employ the new “Offensive Move” technique to take down their opponents from different angles, adding a new dimension to the game and something for both new and old fans to master. Virtua Fighter™ 5 also includes the ability to customise characters by selecting from four base costumes and a wide range of unlockable accessories and earnable items. As players win more tournaments they will not only earn costumes and accessories, but also prizes and in-game money that will allow them to buy items from the in-game shop.

“The Virtua Fighter™ series from SEGA has one of the most prestigious histories in video games,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “It’s a franchise that has grown an army of loyal fans both in arcades and on consoles worldwide, and is consistently rated extremely high by the media. Fighting game fans have been hungry for Virtua Fighter™ 5 and we can now proudly deliver this game with SEGA to Xbox 360 gamers around the world.”

Developed by the highly renowned Tokyo based development team, AM R&D Development No.2, Virtua Fighter™ 5 for the Xbox 360™ will be available across Europe and North America during late summer 2007.''

I really hope this isn't one of those cases where it's difficult to choose a best version of the game.... like with Resident Evil 4. Unfortunately, I'm not enough of a dumbass to decide that the 360 version is better because it's on the 360 like most people on the board... so this might be kinda difficult.

well, I think the team is pretty dedicated to get the game perfect as far as the fighting engine goes. On the other hand, they may slack on it since 1) nobody in Japan will buy it on the 360, so they don't really need to live up to the expectation of an arcade perfect version and 2) VF isn't heavy in the competitive scene in the U.S. and the 360 demographic isn't expecting frame-by-frame perfection either.

I hope that the differences would be in the graphics department only. or that there are no differences and that both are perfect, Revision C ports. That way it doesn't become the fodder for the system flame wars, cited by people who couldn't really care less about VF to begin with.

This is a pretty important game though. Dead or Alive has the entire Xbox 3D fighter market to its self. They need some fire under their asses so DoA5 won't be a joke.

Yeah, and if VF5 does well, maybe we'll get some more fighting games on the 360... either way, I need more reasons to turn the system on since I have very few right now. It's the only system I've ever owned where people seem to celebrate a warranty extention more than a new game.

I don't think it's coming out in Japan on the 360... it was only announced for the US and Europe.

Which is good, because you're right, Japan won't buy it over there on the 360 so why even waste time on them.

But you're also right in that the 360 only has DoA 4, and if VF 5 is marketed right it should do pretty damn good in sales, just by being the only new 3-D fighter in over a year for it.

Do you guys really think VF5 will sell well for the 360? VF4: Evo was the best fighting game (IMO) on the PS2 and it was budget priced when it released but it didn't sell at all. It was cool that I could buy copies for $5 after GCC but that doesn't bode well for a VF on a system with one tenth of the user base. Maybe they'll put Live functionality in the US and European versions and just say screw arcade perfection. I used to be a bastard about arcade perfection but now I just want a fun game I can play with my friends.

Playstation 2 also has many many many many other choices for fighting game fans... if you pass on VF, you have Tekken, Soul Calibur, DBZ, Mortal Kombat, tons of fighting games to choose from.

360 fans have Dead or Alive 4 and....well....and.... nothing. Even casual fans who liked DoA 4 and casual fighting fans will buy VF 5 simply because it's something new after a year and a half.

The fact that so many people bought the fighters over XBLA means that there is an audience for fighting games on the system.

The 360 has 1/10 of the user base but also 1/10 of the selection PS2 did... I just have a strong feeling if MS / Sega push this the right way, VF could regain alot of its popularity in the US. It basacially has no competition whatsoever when it releases.

Nice point. I just hope they don't release some broken garbage because of that fact. Again, I don't care if it's arcade perfect but I don't want the Virtua Fighter series to go the way of the Soul Calibur series just so everyone can make a quick buck. I hope they use the six extra months to optimize the game for the 360 and make it run smoothly.

Honestly, I don't think it'll sell that well on the 360. Yeah, it's the first new fighting game in a looong time, but you have to keep in mind what an Xbox 360 owner looks for in a game. VF is slow paced, bloodless, and doesn't have guns. Therefore, it will not do that well on the 360. I just can't see the typical 360 owner caring about a game like this.

I'll give VF5 as a Christmas present next year. It's what I did two years ago with Evo. I gave 3 copies to my old Air Force buddies that played VF2 with me back in the day and I gave 7 to my wife's family in Indiana. All ten people called me on Christmas day or the day after thanking me for giving them such a great game. It was even sweeter that I bought them all for $5 a pop. I've loaned Evo out three different times knowing it would never be returned and I haven't gotten a copy back. I equate it to when I let some of my white friends listen to Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" for the first time. I had to make six copies of that tape and it still got stolen at least six times. Most people don't give Virtua Fighter a chance but pop it in and hand them a controller and they'll love it more than Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive, or Tekken.

right now it doesn't have any competition (fighters or otherwise) for the time it's coming out (August/September.) If they promote the shit out of it, it'll sell well initially. I don't think it'll crack a million copies or anything though.

That would be nice but I'd only need Guilty Gear and 3rd Strike. I was never able to track down a copy of Capcom v SNK 2. I could survive without the SNK offerings. I almost feel burned that I paid full price for Neowave and Sam Sho. KOF 02 is cool but I won't get my knickers all twisted up if it's never BC.

Though people don't like the unbalanced stuff, I want SNK vs. Capcom Chaos on there and SFA would be great.

When does Halo 3 come out? As long as it's at least a month or two before that, it'll do well. If it's anywhere near it, fuggettaboutit.

November makes the most sense. It's the month that nearly all the big games of the year come out and MS always releases their important game for the year in November... late summer would almost definitely mean August for VF5, so it won't get trampled by bigger games like Halo 3. I'm still convinced that there's not many 360 owners who'd be into the game though.

I found SvC Chaos to be pretty fun. I like the weird, dark style. I guess it's broken, but it's still worth trying out. Not so much for Capcom Evolution...I rented it and got 0 enjoyment out of it.

I just don't know when I'd get the time for SvC. If I'm gonna hook up the ole Xbox, I'm probably gonna be playing Guilty Gear, KOF 02, or 3rd Strike. I wouldn't mind finding a copy of CvS2 however.

So, I remember Victorious Boxers 2: Fighting Spirit was brought up a week or two ago... I played through that game and I loved it. I am a big fan of the series and I enjoyed the first game, VB1 as well...

For Christmas I got a copy of the JPN version of Hajime No Ippo 2: Victorious Road for the PS2... it's freakin' AWESOME. It's so much more in depth/difficult than VB1 or VB2(which is really Hajime No Ippo: All-Stars)... and the best part of it all it features some real life boxers and some boxers we all know and love. Obviously they're not named after their real personas due to licensing.... but in the game you see some big name boxers such as Jack Dempsey, Muhammad Ali, among others.... the best part of it all, most of the boxers from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! are in it as well!

Add the fact that there is the "Boxer's Road" career mode, and you have the most in depth boxing game/simulation ever made. I am so happy with it.

Just wanted to vouch for the awesome game, in this awesome thread.

And again, Merry Christmas!

This is where the Christmas gamin' is goin down during my freetime the rest of this week before new years:

Ha, I liked how talk of VB went straight to collection pics...

Anyways, these days, I've been consumed in VB2. Playing with my friends and brother has never been this much fun. I'd say VB2 is paced just right for anyone. I would also like to import VictRoad, but in the end I'd rather not. I'm satisified with VB2 and wouldn't want to spend even more money just for a simulation mode.

I should really get back into the Guilty Gear playing I said I would do, but VB2 is just too fun.

Note: Before doing this make sure you have a Visa or Mastercard Credit Card/Debit Card(In some cases you may need 2 cards).

1) Create a new log in on your PS3 system.(Far left of the XMB menu).

2) Sign up for the PS Network(Far right). Make a master account.

3) Fill in all information accordingly, choose Hong Kong as your country.

4) Under street address put in a random number and street name. For region just pick a random one, for example I picked Kowloon/Kowloon Bay.

5) Enter in your billing information, make sure you're accurate!

6) Once you finish setting up your account, go back to the Account Management and add funds to your wallet. What you're going to do now is add 40HKD twice. This will give you a total of 80 HKD. (Why are we doing this? Because for some reason when authorizing the credit/debit cards it will not complete the transaction when authorizing 80 or more HKD at a time;Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is 125HKD). So now that you have 80 HKD. Exit the account management and go into the PlayStation Store.

7) Choose the DL for Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. Once doing so it will ask you to confirm and once you do it will show that there is a remaining balance owed of 45HKD. Authorize the transaction and you should be good to go! If it does not work on the PS Store screen you will have to use another card(Edit billing information on the account management screen of the PS Network(Far right on XMB).

Have fun!

I hear you. And it's always the long named games that throw me for the loop. Should I put the Shin Megami games together or do I alphabetize them according to their individual name? Does Suikoden Tactics go before Suikoden III, IV, and V or after? Do I put all my Silent Hills together even though 2 and 4 are for Xbox and 3 is for the PS2? Life was much easier when I had five or six Saturn games and five or six PS1 games.

Hello from Argentina fighter thread!

Hit up an arcade last night. They had a ton of those Sega Astro-something cabinets, all chock full of counterfeit gaming goodness. There were more KOF games than anything, but they also had a deserted MvC2 machine, Tekken 3, SC1, DoA2 Millenium (had never played that version before), and one machine that had like 100 games in 1 that had all the 2-D capcom fighters. Unfortunately, nobody was playing any of them so I stuck to percussion freaks.

Tried hitting up a few game stores to find Brain Age and Phoenix Wright for the plane ride home, but they only seem to sell burnt PS1 games here  maybe I'll find them when I get to downtown Buenos Aires in a few days. Everything is so cheap here, I hope the games are too!

I hope everyone has a good new year :) Tonight, the drunken bout will never end!

Yep, only good version... you don't need a Japanese Saturn, just get a 4 in 1 action replay thingy and you're set.

If you're getting X-Men vs SF, might as well also get Marvel Super Heroes vs SF too.

I wish Capcom, somehow, got the rights to port them... those games + Guardian Heroes is the only reason I keep my Saturn. They could make some kind of Marvel Collection, and include:

X-Men Children of the Atom
Marvel Super Heroes
X-Men Vs Street Fighter
Marvel Super Heroes Vs Street Fighter

That would be AWESOME... too bad we'll never see it.

I'll probably pick up a Saturn sometime soon. I do have to keep my head on straight and buy KOF XI and Melty Blood before anything. I've put those off for far too long.

Yep, that's it... it should plug into the slot in the back of the US Saturn, it lets you play Japanese games, and it also has a 1mb and a 4mb chip to let you play the Capcom / SNK games that need it.

The PS2 is really really close to having every fighting game I care about... all it needs is Capcom's old fighters and I'd be set. It almost has every SNK fighter at this point.

Will it also allow Japanese Saturn's to play U.S games?

Since it's makeover....I <3 my PS2

Yea, I'm 99% certain it can't, I never used it backwards like that, but I don't see why it couldn't.

Plus, I was looking for some filler to bump my Play-Asia order past $60, and found this:

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-71-d-49-en.html

Don't forget today is the LAST DAY to use the Play Asia holiday coupons!! I ended up grabbing:

Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves - $39.90
Darkstalkers Collection - $9.90
DoA 4 figure - $3.90 (needed to push me over $60)

My total was a little but under $60 shipped, so it's like I got a free figure. Actually, it came to $60.20, which still isn't bad at all, and I got two games I had been putting off for awhile.
