I have tryed every idea from almost every topic I have seen. I tryed going into my router and opening all the ports and that didnt work. I tryed opening my 360 totally. No work. I have a screen when I try the media edition stuff saying limited network connection. IP address from your DHCP sevver didn't obtain. Whats this? I don't care about the media edition I just want the wmp 11 to connect. On my laptop I get a bubble saying it detects a 360 but I can never connect. When I test media connection my PC selected always fails.

Did you put you Xbox 360 on the media allow list?
In WMP11 go Library, media sharing and then allow the Xbox 360.
Should look like this.

PC to computer? Doesn't sound like it would be too much trouble...

Make sure you set your Media player and computer to allow the 360 to access the PC. I had a bit of difficulty with this after the new update and using the Zune player, but now it works better than ever.

no thats right for sure. LOL. I wish it was that easy. Last night screwing with my setting on my router crashed my whole network so i had to call up my isp and go through stupid steps.

Well I don't know then. It was super simple for me. I don't know what's so hard. Good luck finding out.

I couldn't get my 360 to see my PC, but as soon as I unplugged the WiFi adaptor everything worked fine. I think it has something to do with Internet Connection Sharing.

Nope, I don't. I really wish there was a way to go from usb to usb.
Good luck, I just did a reinstall (yesterday) of windows because I couldn't fix my problem after upgrading from media connect to WMP11. I tried everything without any luck. Now it works just fine now *I had problems that the PC or Xbox couldn't see each other.
Many threads here, good luck:

I'm thinking of calling Microsoft. Going through the process.

You could try Zune player. It might work.
First thing to try is roll back to Media player 10 then try zune.
Second thing to try is reinstall .net framework 1.1 or 2.0.
Third thing is to make sure plug and play is set to automatic:
(. Click "start" -> "control panel" -> "administrative tools" -> "services".
2. Scroll to "Universal plug and play" and double click on it.
3. If it is not set to "automatic" turn it to that and if it is not on, turn it on.
4. Scroll to "HTTP SSL" and turn that on and also to automatic.
5. Same thing with "SSDP Discovery Service". Make sure it's on and set to automatic.)
If none of these things work for you (they didn't work for me  ) then you most likely are going to need to reinstall Windows.

Do you have any antivirus? Norton seems to mess things up and you would have to shut it off to get it to work. This happened to me.
