Going to wait and see how long it is... Cloning Clyde wasn't all that long and there really wasn't alot to do once it's over (nobody really played multiplayer that I saw).
Hopefully this game is long and has some replayability somewhere.
I'd jump on more single player XBLA games but $10 is alot to swallow to just have it sit on my HD when I'm done =/
This game DOES look awesome, though.

Looks good, but too little too late for XBLA. I mean, normally we should have gotten really excited for Small Arms and Roboblitz, but those hit the marketplace like a wet fish. I bet MS lost a lot of potential XBLA customers with all their recent screwups. Just look at the NeoGAF "sales" numbers - early adopters hit the service hard early on, but lately releases have been selling around 20k, which isn't that great.
Developers are going to start migrating to the Playstation store or the VC with their original content because X360 users just don't care anymore, which is a shame. But they are going to have to do something to make a profit. 20k sales is barely a profit (http://makeitbigingames.com/blog/?p=35).

I think the figures have more to do with big games like Gears of War taking people away. Early success probably has more to do with the fact there were no other games to play on the 360, just like PS and Wii stores will do well early on while there isn't many games on the system. Just like early full titles always sell well regardless of quality. As more and more titles come on line and there is more choice, the quality has to be improved to continue with high sales. I believe Roboblitz was in the top 10 overall games played last week on 360, so it's not all bad.
Back on topic, I'm really looking forward to trying this out. I love co-op games.

People have been bitching about lack of XBLA content so much, and now we have 3 new original XBLA games within the last 4 weeks and its too little too late? People are just never satisfied i guess.
I think your figures are a bit off, because you arent taking into consideration that early adopters hit the service hard....when CoD2 was still the most played game on 360 xbox live. The fall/winter has seen a HUGE amount of releases, so of course XBLA sales arent going to be as spectacular.
Edit: Psycho beat me to the point :o

My thoughts exactly.
I see an amazing amount of bitching on CAG about lack of original XBLA games. And then, most of those same people bitch about the original ones now flooding through the gates, and are not buying them.
I don't think they understand they you have to vote with your dollars (points) to tell MS and developers what you want. Even if I don't have a huge boner over an original XBLA game, I will usually buy them to "vote" for more original games.
When people around here whine about lack of original games and too many retro games, what they really mean is - "Why can't they make more AAA original XBLA games so I can have lots to choose from when I buy my two a year."

I just want good games. I don't give a fuck if they're arcade ports or originals.
XBLA's recent original content has been underwhelming. Small Arms and Roboblitz were passable, but that's about it. We haven't had an original action game since Cloning Clyde (and there was a significant gap prior to that as well), and this is the best they can do?
I suppose it would be easier to swallow if the rest of XBLA wasn't so piss-poor. Nintendo is already killing MS in the "downloadable games" category, and they're doing a minimum of work to the stuff they're releasing.
Release some more fan-favorite arcade games in the vein of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and SFII (not the "1983 Lives!" bullshit we've gotten for the most part), release some high quality original games, release more party/card games, and we're rolling. This drip-drip-drip/broken promises thing ain't cutting it.

That's subjective, as virtually all of the VC releases have been getting bad reviews.
More subjective in that Nintendo made their downloadable titles (in addition to them being solely retro titles), whereas Microsoft doesn't.

In my righteous, self-important, obtuse, and verbose opinion (EDIT: Oops! Forgot "unlikable" and "professionally annoying"!), Microsoft has got it all backwards with the Live Arcade games. These titles should be filling the 'drought' periods, not getting trampled underfoot by their own full-length games and the holiday season nonsense in general.
Also, they need to start marking down older games to reinvigorate the entire Live Arcade experience and community. Okay, as soon as the New Year arrives, anyway.

I would agree with you if you were talking about their VC catalogue in Japan. Overseas you can currently DL classics like Link to The Past. Where is that over hear? Even then they are all rereleases. I have suspicions that the Episodic Sam and Max game is coming to the Wii- now that would be cool.
I really want to try out this game. DLing trial now...

I think this was the general opinion during the spring/summer, when we basically had, oh, nothing at all worth playing during the period between Oblivion and Dead Rising. Besides Uno.
I can only hope that they wanted to have stuff like this out at that point but it just wasn't ready.

On-topic, this game looks pretty sweet and I'll probably pick it up.
Off-topic, I'm pretty under-whelmed with Ninty's VC. I can understand slightly when MS say "Well we have to charge a bit more for this old game cos now you can play it over Live and we've added Achievements etc". Nintendo say they have done NOTHING to update the old titles they offer, which I assume means they'll be no online multiplayer for any of these titles. So why the hell is an old NES game like $5, thats way too much IMO.

I d/led the demo and after a few minutes of play, I HAD to download the full version. I love the way, the game gives you a bit of an extra chance when your vehicle blows- they put you on foot.
Why don't they make games like this anymore? It vaguely reminds me of Expendable for the DC, but with much better controls.

Sorta, but with easier controls. You control your vehicle/soldier with the left thumbstick and you fire with the right thumbstick, just aim in a direction and it will shoot, left and right bumpers are used to switch weapons, right/left triggers to throw grenades/nukes.
As you move up the screen, you will not be able to move back down, just like Jackal. Game is awesome though I only played the demo, once you try it you'll definately buy it. I know I will as soon as I get home.

The guy a few up is right about Nintendo. They are charging $5 for an un-updated nes game while Contra gives you online play, leaderboards and acheivements for the same price as Soccer for the Nes with all of the original crappy elements intact.

Just played the demo myself. I love it-- I do think that only the three guns (Gatling, Flamethrower, Flak Cannon) are in the entire game though. Though there are like option weapons (Missiles, and hopefully other stuff). I do like that if you get blown up, you can try and duck and weave on foot while waiting for your next ride to show up.
The fact that even on foot, if you hoard your grenades you can still whoop ass, makes it a lot of fun. I beat the boss of the demo while on foot. Also, since the game gives you combos and bonuses for practically everything you do (Top Gun!, Bunker Buster!..etc.) It is pretty fun to wreak havoc on everything.
I'll play the demo a bit more this evening, but I'll definitely purchase after work tomorrow, hopefully there will be a bunch of folks playing this for the next two weeks or so.
Pick up and Play definitely, and nice visuals. I honestly think it beats Geo Wars (which while fun, never inspired a purchase for me). The Controls are tight and responsive, and even on foot, while at a disadvantage, you still aren't completely miffed.
If anyone has a doubt, play the demo first-- may not be worth your 10, but it will be getting mine.

Is there any form of versus mode online or only co-op? How long is the co-op portion? Worth replaying? Just seems like online would get old fast if the only feature is a short co-op mode.

Yeah that's basically what I was saying. We had gotten less than 10 original XBLA games in the 360's 1st year of release. That is a really weak effort. So I'm hoping that in year #2 we see a lot more original games than 10.

I bought the game and have beaten the first zone. Surprisingly, achievements don't seem to be unlocking for me. I've defeated the spider 3 times and seem to be left scratching my head.

Keep going after you kill the spider, you only get the achievements after you run out of lives. If you quit the game, you won't get the achievement.

I haven't beatin it yet. I'm stuck on the level where you have to escape with the timer counting down (right after the boss fight). I even tried it on easy, trying to run past all the enemies, using grenades to the fullist, I can't make it in time!!!! If anyone wants to help me, look me up.
i could also use some help here.

That solves that, thanks.

The whole achievements system is really annoying. It won't unlock my achievments until after I beat a boss even if the achievment doesn't have anything to do with a boss (beating an a non-boss area without dying, etc.). I really wish they would fix this because it makes me feel like I'm missing out on my achievements.

Anybody have any tips or tricks for area 17, (it's when you beat the boss and then start running to escape while the place all around you is blowing up). I can't make it in time and I'm stuck. > <

Spybreak, I had a blast playing with you. Shame we couldn't finish the tunnel though. I just finished it myself in single-player It took me a couple of tries. I ran through as fast as I could almost all the time. I used the minigun and just sped through the first part, up until you have to lose your vehicle, at that point I had a sliver of life left. For the on-foot parts, you really have to just keep moving. Blast the other on-foot enemies as you run by and try to dodge the bullets of the larger ones on the side, don't try to shoot them. Try to save the grenades for an emergency. You'll come through the second tunnel, just keep running and grab your vehicle when it re-spawns (or if you die). It's a little easier in the vehicle after that but more chaotic. I Saved my nukes and most of the grenades until I had maybe a minute left, and I squeaked by with 29 seconds left.
It was awesome though, my whole body clenched up while I was trying to make it out alive. intense stuff :D

Ok so last night I was able to hop right in a random match with someone first try. Again tonight, no random matches were able to be joined, and I could not play with anyone on my friends list either. Just sits on the waiting screen forever.
The only commonality I can think of is that every time it won't work, it's usually after midnight EST.

This game was the biggest waste of money ever. Me and my friend just tried to get a coop game going for 30 minutes, and the furthest we got was the stupid waiting screen. Ugh so mad >.<
Edit: and thrust its only 2:30 pm est here so its not just after midnight, this game is seriously dumb.

I'm not sure I understand that statement. Roboblitz, Small Arms, Mutant Storm, Cloning Clyde, Outpost Kaloki X, Marble Blast ultra, Texas Hold em are all original properties.

I like the game. I just want to know why I can't play co-op over live with my friends.

So is everyone experiencing co-op woes? I'd like to pick this up, but if I can't even co-op over live, I'd rather wait if and when they fix it.

Don't know what you're bitching about because I played Co-op with a friend on my buddy list last night just fine!? There was a little lag but that was my end and it only just made his quad fade in and out and there was no problem for me controling my quad. Make sure you have all your settings correct and your router or whatever you're using optimized. It will be interesting to see how other people manage.

I tried all night yesterday, could not manage to get a coop game going with friends over live. Sat on that damn waiting screen forever.
Figures, the first time I decide to unlock a full version, MS can't even get it right.

This game is great. I have had no real problems playing co-op online. I got stuck once yesterday for the first time but we tried again and it connected fine.

For those of you that were having co-op problems did you figure out some kind of setting to change? Bought this a couple of days ago and still can't get the co-op to work, sits there on the waiting screen.

What he said... I've not really played this much because I bought it for co-op with a friend, but the few times I've tried to play I just get hung on that fucking waiting screen. Anyone figure a way to increase the chance of actually making this game work, or is it just dumb luck?

If you're using a router, you can try opening your ports (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114243), that helps a lot of people connect to friends on XBL.

My NAT is set to open on my 360 and so is the person I am trying to co op with. Reading that tutorial it seems that there isn't any other way to may my 360 more "open" unless I am misunderstanding it.

Funny I was the last one to post in this thread over a half a year ago. I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a patch update for this game. I updated and tried online co op with a friend today and it worked! It's pretty fun if you haven't been able to get it to work yet give it a shot.

Yeah, this is the first XBLA I got and can't complain. It's a great game, haven't tried Co-op over live but may have to give that a go.

There is a sequel? Thats hillarious I had no idea. When was it released? I heard about a sequel called "Assualt Heroes 2" and featured hijackable enemy vehicles, but have not heard of a release date.
