Purchase a Black GBA (the normal one, not the SP) and get either Donkey Kong Country, Advance Wars 2, or Golden Sun: The Lost Age free with purchase. It also says this deal is available online as well, but I can't find it on the TRU website.

Also in this ad:
Incredible Hulk (GBA) $10
Barbie's Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race (GBA) $10
Crash Nitro Kart (GBA) $10
The Hobbit (GBA) $10

Deal valid from 6/27/04 to 7/3/04

I personally would spend the extra cash for the SP, the backlit screen is a must. I had the regular gba, it was really, really annoying since the screen was so dark :(

I agree. I really hate my original GBA and love my SP.

You do know the SP's screen is frontlit, not backlit, don't you?

not really, frontlit produces a washed out, faded look. while a true backlit produces richer colors. sorry....

Well, the only backlit solution is an afterburner lite right? And from what I've seen, I think it washes out the colors more than the frontlit screen of the SP does. Having not lite at all...well in certain situations that can be next to unbearable.

Gamestop had them on sale for only $30. I bought one then, but ended up trading it in.

That was a pretty good deal, but damn that lack of a back-lit screen really was a nuisance. Not to the point that some people would have you believe.

Afterburners provide a frontlight as well...

Solution = try the Game Boy Player on the GameCube.

It is amazing! You will see new details you have never seen before! It is like playing your Game Boy games again for the first time. (well.. sort of)

It is a great investment if you already own a GameCube and lots of Game Boy titles.
