I got a 60 GB at Target on Monday. I was there during lunch to buy other stuff and I saw it sitting in the case. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I didn't see any games that I would want to buy right now.

I got lucky and nabbed one last Friday at BB. I'm also not sure if I'm going to keep it. I was so excited to get it and had been hunting since launch but there's just no games out there that I want to play.

I also got a 60gb at a Target today as well did the friend with me. I was out looking for a Wii and stumbled across 8 of them. I'm not sure I want to keep mine so I may return it but I wanted to get one while I had the chance.

I got mine at about 9 am. They were not in the case. They were behind the counter.

I was in Wal-Mart today and I saw one. Of course I didn't buy it since I already have one, but it was the first one I have seen.

I didnt pick it up, but my local Gamestop got 2 PS3's in this afternoon. The manager announced that they just got it in and 2 people in the store immediately bought them on the spot.

Ok, this is a totally different question.
yeah i was bored so i got a PS3 off of ebay for $690. It's a 60 gig plus a PS2 NFS Carbon. Doesn't sound like a bad deal since the PS3 with tax here in California is around $650+ and +the game.

So you paid $40 for the PS2 version of NFS Carbon?

I didn't buy one, but we randomly got 2 more 60GB in at Gamerush on thurday. 2 straight weeks we got shipments. Judging from how the ebay prices dropped over the last week, I am thinking Sony might actually be shipping a ton of these right now. In other words, if you are looking for one you might be able to get it before Christmas.
Now if my strore would just get another shipment of Wiis....

Well I think the dramatic fall in price on ebay is caused by two factors
1) Sony is shipping more units
2) Most of the units being picked up in the stores when shipments hit are by scalpers flooding ebay trying to turn a profit.
The demand for the Wii's is much greater because it seems a majority of people buying them are to play (whether it's for the purchaser or as a Christmas present for the kids).
Seems there are still hardcore gamers that want to get their hands on them but they seem to be willing to wait until they can track one down even if that means after the holidays.

Went to Wallmart yesterday to get some stuff for the wife, looked in the electronics section and I couldn't believe that there were 2 60gb units just sitting there on display......i resisted the temptation....as there aren't any games i'd want to play on it for a while.

I snagged one from a local Meijer yesterday. I'm eBaying it since there are still no games for the PS3 I actually want to play. It would be nice to make enough off of it to pay for a few Christmas presents, since I'm dirt poor right now. eBay prices sure have fallen, though.

So you bought a ps3 just to have the "feeling" of buying one? I think I will go to Best Buy and buy a $2000 VAIO laptop and I may return it later because I am not sure if I want to keep it...

Yeah but the Sony Vaio computers are always in stock. Seeing a PS3 on the shelf is a rare occurance. Maybe he's been considering getting a PS3 so he picked it up while he had the chance. That way if he does want it and it fits in the budget he's good if not take it back

Good luck buying your xmas presents with a $50 profit from selling your ps3 on ebay!

Hmm, interesting.
I have been thinking about getting a Ferrari and actually my local dealership has an used Ferrari so I think I might buy it because they are hard to find around where I live. I will buy it and then if it doesnt fit my budget, then I will go and return it.

You'd be lucky to make enough profit to buy an extra value meal at McDonald's right now. My friend bought a PS3 about a week ago at Target simply to turn a profit. He listed the acution yesterday and came away with a cool $32! Woo Hoo!.

Yeah, looking at the prices it's going for now I know I'm not going to make much off of it. Buying it was sort of a reflex reaction upon seeing that one lonely unit sitting on the shelf. Oh well, at least I can say that, for however briefly, I owned a PS3.

I got mine around 3:45pm after work. It was the last one, and I guess they'd gotten about 15 that day.
There actually are a lot of launch PS3 games I'd like, but not for $60. Very few games I'd pay that much for.
I bought a PS1/2 memory card reader with it too for $15.

Was at my local EB last night and they had just received some 60GB systems in. I would have taken one home but the missus thought I was insane wanting to drop that much after getting a Wii at launch. Wasn't worth the headeache, makes me with they had been 20GBs, easier to convince.

No, not for the feeling of buying one. I did it because I saw it and was on the fence about getting it. It didn't hurt anything if I decided I didn't want it since I can return it and no money lost.

Chitown021 had it right except for the budget part. If you've got the kind of money to do that with a Ferrari and you can return it for full purchase price, go for
it.
And to end it all, I've decided to keep it. See how it worked out for me?

My point was that you were buying something that you were not 100% sure about and why not let someone else get that ps3. Maybe someone else has been going around town for hours (or days) trying to get a ps3.
My Ferrari analogy was supposed to mimic your way of thinking. My circuit city had some Wiis and I had the cash to buy one but I was not sure if I wanted a Wii so I didnt buy it (I rather let someone else buy it and enjoy it).

except that if in the end you wanted the Wii you would have been SOL for the coming weeks or months.
Like this guy said it worked out for him since he decided to keep it. Even if it didn't, returning would still let some lucky soul have a go at it, so it's not like nobody's going to get it in the end.
You should bombard your sarcasm at the 20,000+ scalpers still on eBay trying to turn a profit instead of at a legit buyer.

The Super Walmart here had some instock yesterday. They had a sign up saying that they had some 20gb and 60gb Playstation 3's instock. I do not know how many they had. You had to ask the cashier for one.

No man, they are already suffering enough with the losses they are incurring on their ps3s. Let them be...

A friend of mine actually returned a 60GB PS3 to Target today. He purchased it to resell a couple of days ago before realizing there was no profit in it. I asked hm if anyone in the store freaked out when he walked in with it. He told me that one kid with his mom got all excited until she told him "don't even think about it you don't have $600".
I asked him what the store thought. He said the service person was acting all nervous like he was trying to pull some sort of scam. He had the receipt and told her straight up he bought the console strictly to sell for a profit and he was returning it because there was no more money to be made.
