CJayC would be distracted when someone held up a sign that said "F*** YOU" and go demand that it be changed to "**** YOU". Meanwhile, CheapyD would clobber him in the back of the head.

It's awesome that GameFAQs has all that information for free, but the message boards are 100% useless except for the unintentional comedy factor. Probably the single biggest problem is that they have a worthless TOS and people only seem to get busted for really minor stupid things while the assholes are allowed to run free.

When you've got a massive user base you need to make the TOS as broad as possible. GFAQs is read by a ton of people in all age groups so the boards need to have a nice and friendly atmosphere. The thing I always love is people complaining about others getting away with stuff when 99% of the time they don't even bother marking the posts and would rather just complain about it. C'est la vie, they both have created great sites that serve my purposes well though...

I agree with this entire post. The censor bypass filter is garbage there. Like someone couldn't figure out the diffrence between f*** you or **** you. If someone takes the time to do f***, they are at least trying to censor themselves. The stupidest thing is they allow suffixes! So you could say ****ing and no foul. Say f****** and it is a 3 karma deduction. Its really half-assed.

That being said I never get moderated but their policy is as illogical as it comes.

Ill agree with that. The only place Ive ever seen CJayC post on Gamefaqs is the announcment board, and CheapyD is much more involved with CAG then CJayC seems to be with Gamefaqs.

I don't care whether or not they let you curse there, the problem is that a person who says f*** gets busted but someone who keeps making topics like "OMG look at this game XBOX IS DOOMED" or whatever get nothing. The mods just cannot keep up, marked messages or not. The TOS is worthless not because of what it bans, it's worthless because it is not evenly enforced or even enforced at all sometimes. But then again, if it was, probably 99% of the people there would be banned in a day.

I would, but 9 times out of 10 it'd be a severe ToS violation, and I've had my account there since 2000, and I'd like to keep it that way.

That's what makes this site so fun, Cheapy is around to make sure that the boards don't suck. Another key is Cheapy hasn't let the #of message boards balloon up to god knows how many gamefaqs has (one for every game + all the special interest boards).

Finally, while I have no idea what Cheapy's political stance is, he'd be surely get my vote over the other two main candidates in this election.
