I know a lot of sellers over charge shipping and I usually don't care since I know of it ahead of time... but this certain case really pisses me off.
I was looking for a GameShark 2 recently and found that most sellers had a fixed price. I was able to find one with open bids but shipping was $13 for UPS. I said what the hey and bid $1.50 and ended up winning.
I received my package today and it was sent via USPS in a brown bubble wrap. Now, everything is technically fine... but me paying $13 for USPS shipping which probably didn't cost more than $4 (including the package) just pisses me off.
Of course, he hasn't left feedback yet and I'm guessing that leaving him a negative would only make him retaliate unfairly... but is there anything else I can do or should I just let it go?

If what you paid for it in total is fair (or cheaper than normal), then I'd let it go. I'm in the same boat as you though. I bought a HD for someone as a Christmas present on eBay (paid for it Monday). The description says he'd ship via FedEx AND provide a tracking number (which he hasn't given me yet). It's still not here, so he clearly didn't send it thru FedEx. In this situation, I'm pissed, but other times I just don't leave feedback and let it be.

Could that simply have been the infamous scam against ebay itself where you charge massive shipping to get the same amount of total money, but only pay what the bid cost in fees? If so, it was not nice of him, but not against you.

I hate USPS, it's the crappiest service and always the slowest

I'd let it go...since you got the item in a timely manner I assume?Same time it would take UPS?If not then its up to you..

I'd be right pissed if that happened to me
Only thing you can do besides leaving FB is contact him asking for at least a partial refund of the S+H costs since he sent it using a method other than the one you paid for. I'd guess that has a slim chance of success (most likely he'll send you an insulting reply) but may as well give it a shot.

If it's me, I let it go. The seller probably had his mom ship it for him, and she messed it up, in which case the only lesson he learns is that he needs to do it himself from now on. At worst, leave neutral feedback, and emphasize that everything went well but the shipment could have been handled better.
I tend to sympathize with shipping errors this time of year because of how insane the places are with the holiday mess. I had to ship some stuff for buyers recently and the employee at USPS somehow translated "priority mail" into "first class" for several of them, which screwed over people who paid for it to get there in a timely manner. I ended up refunding the difference on each.

We need more good sellers like you.

I've been thinking about it and decided to just email him and see what's up... he's a relatively new user with low feedback so maybe he'll get scared and refund me the difference.

Leave neutral feedback at worst. Probably an honest mistake.

Got some questions.
1. How much is this "GameShark 2" worth. Not including shipping?
2. How many days did it take for shipping? Because I would rather have someone ship it USPS overnight or 2 day mail then wait like 5-10 days with UPS Ground.

I honestly have no plans to leave a negative... or neutral. I'm pissed about it, yeah, but it's not that bad.

i have encountered this situation before, i simply send a calm email to the seller explaining what they did wrong (even though they already know). i try to appeal to the seller's sense of common decency, or i guess i try to guilt trip him/her. i know that if i got that email id feel like a jerk.

The seller refunded me $9 when I asked him about it... he said his wife put up the auction and simply made a mistake. Well, that's that...
