how to boot up shenmue for DC

I purchased shenmue for DC a while back, but I couldnt get disk one to work. I thought it was just a faulty disk. Now I have another DC and purchased shenmue again, and once again disk one is not picking up. I am pretty sure both opies were american versions. Do I need to put in the passport disk first. And both DC are in god working condition

The passport disk is useless, it has nothing to do with booting. The passport disk was used for online and is now a frisbee. Just try cleaning the disk and lense and starting it up with the disk in the DC not from the menu. Also I think you meant "are" instead of "were" american versions.

I had this issue with the 4th disc of Shenmue 2. I cleaned it then it work. Yet I wish I had never played it. Ends on a cliffhanger and no Shenmue 3 in sight.
