New version of Wii Remote?

I bought a launch Wii, and my brother just got a newer Wii for Xmas. His remote has an ID tag printed on the left side of the remote (as well as the new thicker strap), but my launch remote doesn't have anything printed on it.

I wonder if there were any changes made to the hardware, or if they just decided to start labeling the controllers?

I was in the same exact situation today. My brother and I both got Wiis for Christmas (he lives separately) and as we were trying to figure out how to sync his Wiimote to my Wii I noticed that there was some print on his Wiimote. I looked at mine and it didn't have that ID code or whatever. Interesting...

I got a Wii at Best Buy last week on the 17th. The Wiimote has the thicker strap but there's no ID tag on the side. My other Wiimote, that I got Black Friday weekend, is exactly the same (except with thinner strap of course).

It's just the new ones due to the "breaking" of the old ones.

Mine has the ID on it, it's the Wii Remote that came with the console when I bought it on December 17th.

My friend got that id thing on his remote too.
