A Goldeneye mod for Source. At times like these I really wish I had a good PC to play shit like this:

I've played it, pretty fun. Graphics are really good (though you don't need as high-tech of a PC as you might think). The only downside is that there is no target reticule so you have to "feel" for the center as you aim (it isn't as hard as it sounds and I guess this was done to stay true to the original). Doesn't have longevity but it is great for nostalgia and to see how GE would look with current-gen graphics. The 2nd level is a blast for multiplayer (forgot the name, it is the map where you start in the bathroom and there are two rooms with gas tanks).

I played the alpha when it came out a full year ago, but I haven't since.
Anyone know if its worth playing now?
edit: looking at the site, it seems that they're up to version .1.
That's very little progress for a year ago when the alpha came out, IMO...

That's a pretty bold statement. It takes a lot of time to get mods done. Give them a little slack.
The beta is pretty impressive. The graphics are pretty much spot on. I played 3 levels: Egyptian, Caves and Control. Control feels just like it did in the 007 game. A few added passageways, but all and all an improvement over the original. Egyptian was a lot of fun, It's not the same as the original, but has the right feel to it. Caves was an original, and a little too dark for my liking.
You can pull up a rectacle, but you have to hit shift (thus slowing down your movement speed).
My biggest complaint was aiming at anyone, their name, health, and "FRIEND" come up. I'd rather not see these at all, or at least switch friend to enemy.
Looks like fun, I'll have to find a copy of source and give it a whirl.

Even better, IMO, if they ever finish it: http://www.pdark-mod.com/

Well, one of the lead programmers commited suicide earlier this year, so that set them way back. If you notice the in memory screen at the beginning of the game, thats about him.

I tried GE Source and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was really fun but still a bit buggy. I haven't played the N64 version but have seen it. My friends who were diehard fans of GE N64 said that GE Source does a good job at bringing back the old game in a new design.

You can bind a key to pull up the crosshair, I think its under AIM Mode or something. Also... I THINK that map is called facility. My favorite one so far is Complex.
