I think married people and couples get off on the fact that they get a chance to laugh at everyone else for a change... Where's laugh at your P-wipped friend day?

Being a cheapass I actually enjoy the fact that I don't have to buy stupid gifts for a girl anymore.
Especially when they are just going to forget about the gifts the next day and expect more gifts.

Perhaps I should actually clarify myself a little bit.
Its not the thought of the day that bugs me so much... its the bastardization of it. Valentines day, if one followed the actions of St. Valentine, was about celebrating ones love for family and friends... and not the hallmark holiday based on romantic love that it has become... why is that? There's no money in it if its a celebration of one's love for everyone... it's only there if it's so constrained to couples.
Valentine's day has just become another sham holiday like the greeting card company created Sweetest Day.
I wish everyone just followed the intent of the day. How great would it be if everyone walked around and gave notes and cards to EVERYONE that was important to them? You know, like Valentine's day was back in Kindergarden... where you gave Valentines cards to EVERY kid in the class, and noone is made to feel excluded.
Why is it that most people lose such important knowledge and feelings when the believe themselves mature?

By the way. All of you are important to me, as well as this board.
Through most of the posts you have made on these boards, I have either been informed, enriched or entertained. Through this board, many of you have added some extra value to my life.
Thank you all for all of this... I can only hope that my posts have some value for all of you as well.

You know... Nintendo needs to make the GBA pokemon games playable over the net. It would be tons of fun battling you and your wife over the internet...

My g/f is out driving around somewhere because I didn't buy her flowers... lol. She said I don't care about her feelings, I say I don't care to spend money on flowers that has a markup on them because of some holiday. Flowers that will wilt in a few days no less.

My wife made me a heart shaped omlette this morning. That's about the extent of celebration we do on hallmark holidays. You can observe such yearly landmarks without making a cliche commercialization about it. No body should really need an excuse to say I love you. It's about the way you live your life every day, not what you do on a particular day marked as 'special'.
I hate to break it to you supernothing, but you need to find another woman who has the same philosophy about life as you do. Either that or you need to show her that she's valuable in more ways than a valentine flower bouquet.

I've tried showing her and explaining to her but she just wants that extra something on this "special" day because everyone else is getting something. I've been considering moving on for quite some time. Tonight may be the time.

I hear ya on that...it'd be nice if they could combine the GBP with the broadband adapter and battle people online. I'd be all for it, or battling with the Colloseum game online.
I haven't played pokemon since the yellow game, but as I mentioned she is a poke-maniac. Though I'd like to play FFTA with someone.
Make fun of my wonderful spelling will you? Acquaintance, there :) I decided to use spell check, heh heh.
Edit: I just got her 2 pre-constucted pokemon decks. Also a pokemon tin that has 5 booster packs. She has 4 of those tins now.

It's too bad that'll never happen...but it's worth a shot anyways. Maybe we should all do this next year. :D

I'm really bad about spelling.. I usually just leave word open so I an do my own spell checks and then cut and paste after I'm done.
I'm a little surprised your wife hasn't made you buy her an E-reader yet, what with the dot-code that they put on tons of those pokemon cards.

I never said we didn't have an e-reader now did I :P I actually purchased it for Animal Crossing a while back. I'm the one that uses it the most on the cards, I like playing the simplistic games included in the pokemon cards.

The minigames are quite cool, aren't they?
Between the minigames on Pokemon cards, the extras in SMB3, and the extras in Animal Crossing, I dont begruge my purchase of the ereader for a minute.
