View Full Version : Someone copied my auction...WORD FOR WORD.

I sold my PDZ a few weeks ago. I guess the buyer didn't like the game so he re-listed the auction only copying and pasting everything I wrote (same font as well). I don't really know what to feel but was wondering what others would do in this situation?
He left me great feedback a while ago and was a nice guy so he is probably just being lazy with listing his auction. But I did put some effort into making my auction a few weeks back. What would you guys do?

Fuck it. I'm reporting his ass. The more I look at his (MY) auction, the more I get pissed.

I'd send an email to eBay but they probably won't do anything.

I assume once you put it on ebay they have the rights to everything you write, so they could claim he's copying their auction, but you don't have much of an argument.
Same thing goes for CheapyD copying your post, once it's on his board he owns it.

Let it go. It's not like you found the cure for cancer and he's taking the credit for it.

Here's a serious constructive post, since you've only got shitty replies so far -
Report it to Ebay, and they will pull the guy's auction down. You'll need to provide them with a link to your auction and a link to his auction, and after 2 or 3 days they will pull the auction down.
I remember one time I was selling some games, and some other seller happened to start selling the exact same games, and copied everything I wrote word for word. I don't mind competition, but shit, at least write your own stuff. I reported it, Ebay pulled it, case closed.
Kendro, here is the info Ebay provides, they take this seriously -

Amazing that it took to post 17 to get a real answer.

Did you copyright your listing? This is kind of retarded. I routinely will search completed auctions and imitate the ones that achieve the highest bids, mixing in elements from several. No two of my listings look alike.

Unless something he copied in the auction had your address or email on it I don't see why you even care. Why were you auction-stalking him anyways?
This doesn't add up. This is a joke topic.
Should be pulled down by eBay pretty quickly. (Though the holiday weekend might slow them down? Not sure.) I've had people's listings pulled down for stealing my picture.

Cut off his hands so he can never make a eBay auction ever again.
Just ask him, "Long Sleeve or Short Sleeve?"

What's even more upsetting is it looks like he is going to make a profit. Maybe you should buy it back and copy him?

I was wondering the same thing. Why on earth would you give a crap what someone does with your game after you sell it to them? If this guy a prick to you or something I could understand.

it's already HIS game now...let him do whatever
only case where i would report him is if he copied my auction WHILE I WAS STILL SELLING MY ITEM
it's not that though

Yeah, I feel the same way except I'm a dick and would report him to make him have to re-do all that shit so I can laugh my ass off

I was thinking about doing that but it is too much of a dick move for me. I've decided it isn't worth the hassle. The fact that my Zelda: OoT N64 sold for about $25 more than what I was expecting has put me in a jovial mood. :)
Thanks to those who gave me a helping hand. It is definitely useful information if someone ever steals my auction while it is up. If something like that happens while my item is listed, I'd have no remorse reporting them.
And no I am not a stalker and this is not a joke topic. Whenever someone buys a game from me and leaves feedback, I assume they are gamers so I usually check out if they have any items up for sale in case they have something that might interest me.
Like I said, I really shouldn't care. But I am bothered because I put a lot of thought and effort into writing my listing. Sure I didn't do something monumental, but I'm sure people here have pride when they feel they've done something to the best of their abilities. The fact that he ripped mine off left a bad taste in my mouth, that's all.

Damn! I just bought that last year for like $15! I needa sell mine and I'll just buy it on the Wii. Was it cart only? Please say yes, please pleaseeee
Edit: Bah, they're not even going for $25 on Ebay, tell me your secret!

"Imitation is the best form of flattery."
You should kind of enjoy the fact that he found your listing so fantasmorgical, that he fel compelled to copy your masterful description, knowing his own would be so inferior.
