Are people still finding these hard to find? I was in 3 stores today (Gamestop, EB, TRU) and all three had a decent sized stack. I live in North New Jersey too so I'm not out in the sticks.

I think the general consensus is that we know they are easy to find, but we A: Just don't care or B: Do not have the patience for bank loans to buy one.

My guess is that most of us fall into the A category.

Where are the WIIs?

Edit: go to http://www.outtastock.com/ps3/ and look at all the pretty lights.

I spotted two 60 giggers on the shelf at Big K last night. Not a soul in electronics seemed to pay them any notice. I did however hear a man inquiring about Wii availability.

My local Wal-Mart also had roughly 10 units collecting dust.

Nintendo is SHIPPING more units. its that ppl are buying the wiis as soon as they come in and no buying the ps3

Nintendo is shipping more units than Sony, it's just that the demand is higher for Wiis right now.

That said, Sony is probably shipping the right number of units (from an inventory standpoint) to match PS3 demand, whether it means to or not.

Both still show in stock for me.

If you want one, this is far superior to the Best Buy deal. No shipping and no sales tax. You won't find one cheaper than this for months.

Agreed. It will be a couple of years before Sony can even begin to consider lowering the prices on these things, so no tax/free shipping is a winner (if you have the scratch to buy it in the first place).

Seeing it hanging on this long @ amazon makes me a lot more confident that I can buy it from them later on down the road when there are a lot more games available that would actually make the system worthwhile.

I agree. And Resistance Fall of Man is an awesome game. Unfortunately, it maybe the only awesome game for the PS3, but think of it this way, you won't be tempted to buy anymore games for awhile. Just thinkof it as a Blu Ray player that happens to play PS3 games. ;-) That's what I do, and in that respect it's a steal (compared to the Blu Ray Players that are available from $800 to $1000).

No tax/shipping will be the best deal for awhile, but I think competition will force a price reduction or rebate by next holiday season. Otherwise, Sony will not be price competitive with MS and Ninty even when the good games hit.

TRU had 8 instock (6 60 gigs & 2 20 gigs), EB have 3 60 gigg, GS have 2 60 gig, GS 6 60 gigs, GS 4 60 gigs. Also, Bestbuy had 4 60 gigs, CC have 5 60 gigs, walmart 5 60 gigs, super walmart have 4 60 gigs, local Target have 5 60 gigs and super Target have 4 60 gigs. I wonder where is the Wii ...........can't find it nowhere & no employees tell when is the next shipment having Wii.

A steal for early adopters, I agree.

Still, the price of HD-DVD and Blu Ray players will collapse just like DVD did. It will probably be more than a year, but I already see standalone HD-DVD player prices 10-20% less than launch (and there's the 360 addon). Pressure will also come from people jamming both drives in an HTPC (and perhaps off-brand dual format players that are effectively the same thing). CES rumors also foretell a dual-format drive coming down the pipe.

Unless, of coruse, Blu-Ray fails.... Then it would just be a $600 mistake.

Just bought one 60gb...free shipping and no tax is much better than local, and I can wait. I also have about $200 in credit on my Sony credit card towards Sony products, so luckily that eases the pain a bit. Now to put my PS2 up for sale on craigslist...

That's why I bought the HD-DVD add on for the Xbox 360 too. Now I'm covered no matter which way it goes. ;-)

I agree that I like the Wii second best right now (the Xbox 360 is still my favorite, but they've had a whole year to develop so the comparison isn't necessarily fair), but if anyone thinks the PS3 is going to fail, that's just silly. The PS3 will never be a mistake, it's probably the safest long term bet of the bunch. Nearly every analyst I've read has said that Xbox 360 will maintain the largest market share in next gen for about a year, then all three systems will be close (with the Wii getting there first), but that the PS3 will eventually take the same marketshare the PS2 had previously.

I hope they all succeed because every game system has those AWESOME games that you could only get for that system. Right now, that's Gears of War for Xbox 360, Resistance for the PS3 and Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii (but only with the compent cables which will cost you extra -- the composite cable that the Wii comes with is CRAP).

The PS3 is my least favorite now, but I'm positive it's going to be on top in the future (and maybe sooner than we all think).

Sorry for the rant. ;-)

PS3 does not come with a component cable either!!! Do you even have these systems?

Um, I'm pretty sure it does. But I hooked mine up HDMI so I can't remember if it was component of composite.

Yes, I do have all these systems.

If you want to send me an invite in either Xbox Live or on the PS3 Online service, send it to Rhihan. And I'll be happy to trade Wii console numbers with you and send you my Mii. The 360 should be obvious from my gamertag. I've finished Resistance twice and Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom almost once (about 2 hours away from the end). I have 12 Skill Points in Resistance right now. Ask me any question about those games and I'll answer them. As for the Wii, I have Zelda (which I haven't played much of yet, but will), Tony Hawk Downhill Jam (on which on the third set of races -- 48 Points so far), Excite Truck and Rayman Raving Rabbids (only on the third day in the arena).

And why would I make this up? I've always bought all the consoles near launch. They all have positives and negatives and I don't feel like I can judge a console without owning and and spending a significant amount of time playing it. Otherwise, if I said I like the 360 best (and I do) and I DIDN'T own a PS3 or Wii, then I'd just be a Microsoft fanboy, and no one gets any good information out of that.

And just so you know, if anything, I'm a Nintendo fanboy, so I tend to give them the most slack since I have very fond memories of my NES back in the day. Now you know my biases too. ;-)

I think Sony is stuck with the current retail price for while because they are already losing hundreds per system sold. I believe they will need to do more value-added bundles a la the PSP, at least in the first year or two. I expect a "movie" bundle with maybe a couple of blu-ray titles, maybe pack-in games, once more of those become available, and perhaps some minor tweaks like larger HDDs. This will only happen though, if Sony feels some kind of pressure to ramp up hardware sales. And despite our anecdotal evidence, I think sales are ok for now, at least until the early adopters finally taper off.

OK, I'll take your word for it because I really can't remember. I have HDMI out for video and Optical out for sound for my PS3 (unfortunately, I only have HDMI inputs on my TV not my reciever).

So I'll go on record as saying that both the Wii and PS3 will look crappy with composite cables and the component (for the Wii) and HDMI cable (for PS3) will cost extra. But an generic HDMI cable is way easier to find as compared to the Wii component cables (although probably more expensive).

I meant the Wii Component Cable is cheaper than the HDMI cable. I apologize if it thats not apparent from my sentance.

If you mean the HDMI cable is cheaper, than I'm surprised. My HDMI cable was pretty cheap because I go tit off eBay, but generally I think they're pretty expensive if you walk into a best buy and buy one.

I just bought two HDMI cables from here for about $15 shipped. I love this site. The more you buy the cheaper everything is. Perfect, since I just realized that I forgot to order the 5 optical cables I need. Should run me about $25-$30 shipped for those.

Just as a side note, Zelda:TP for the GCN is a different experience as compared to the Wii (since the control scheme is so different). Plus everything is a mirror image of the Wii version (not a big deal, but it's another difference).
