Everything is free, as long a as you sign up for a few offers. Most of the offers require a credit card*, even if there is no fee. They have a great selection of games, though. The prices are determined by points, and the average for a new $50 game is 1950 pts. Mosts of the offers give about 300 to 500 pts., so it shouldn't take long to get a free game.

Confirmation: This deal is real... see note below for my uh... impressions on it...

NOTE: This deal officially sucks ass for those of us who aren't in possesion of a "credit card." These "credit cards" are evil inventions designed to make people suffer. CASH people! CASH! its all about cash credit cards suck... or at least they do until i get one...

I don't know... I skimmed through their terms and conditions, and they make no guarantee that you'll get your games. It's worded similarly to those eBay pyramid scam sites that say you can supposedly get free stuff. I think this site falls into the category of things where if it seems to good to be true, than it probably is.

I've successfully ordered a couple of video games from them in the past - freevideogames.com is indeed real. Before you get too excited, however, be aware of two issues; 1: It generally takes about 3 weeks for processing and shipping on top of however long it takes you to accumulate points, so I wouldn't use it to order a freshly released title that you can't wait to play, and 2: Some of the services that you need to sign up for in order to get points are rather unscrupulous with their online cancellation methods. I've been charged subscription fees in the past even after canceling. However, I've never had a single issue that wasn't easily resolved with a quick e-mail or phone call to their support, so it's only a temporary issue, but one you should still be aware of. Despite these minor issues, though, it really is a wonderful way to get some of those games that you just "kinda" want but can't bring yourself to spend money on.

I have also used this site, and the points you earn can also be used at freedvds.com and freecds.com also. The shipping has been quite fast, 3-4 days, whenever I have ordered from these sites.

Would it be really terrible to post what offers would be worth doing to get the points and which ones burn you (as was stated by Mattfish). 1950 points to earn a brand new free game, while most of the offers give you 500 credit points? Geez, do tell if this is a buncha crap or a good deal!!

According to my outgoing e-mail complaints, I was charged for the following offers after canceling them before my trial period ended:

shopping-4money.com
fitmd.com
win-anylotto.com

If you sign up for these services, you will see a pattern - they are all billed by a company called Chettle Investments. Their online cancellation system is the worst. It's extremely buggy. However, as I said, they will refund you if you simply send them an e-mail or call and explain any errors. It's just kind of a hassle to have a $40 deduction from your credit card for the week or so it takes to get reimbursed.

The best offer I saw was the AOL ver. 9 offer, it doesn't require a credit card, and takes five seconds to do... if only they would count the multiplw times i signed up for it, I might not have to pay for a video game ever again... problem is, its not an instant offer... maybe Mr Mattfish could tell me when i will recieve the points...

My account got credited for the AOL trial in about a week

Mattfish

The only AOL trial I looked into was the AOL for Broadband offer, but when I found out that it required a credit card I changed my mind (I can't stand canceling AOL accounts - I swear, the operators are paid extra if they can convince you to stay on for another "free" month). But you say there is no credit card required and it's a quick sign up? I think I'll go check it out!

Edit: I just checked out the deal - apparently, if you don't call to cancel the account within 45 days, they will charge you. Cancelling AOL is such a hassle, but then again 600 points is a big chunk of a video game. I'm curious, though, as to how you managed to sign up multiple times for the deal. Doesn't it check for duplicate mailing information? If you can, please inform us all as to how you did it and if you do get awarded multiple times for the same deal.

Like I said, I am not sure as to wether they will count it twice, I haven't even recieved the disk in the mail yet, but it did allow me to fill the form out more than once... I only did this twice, just to see if it even works... as soon as I know, you guys will...

You can also cancel by mail, which is how I did it. This site tells you the details needed to be included and the address, also I think it explains how to fax it.

I don' t know this from experience, but I read some points take anywhere from a few days to maybe a week weeks I think it was to enter into your account.

You don't need the disc they send you, you can pick one up at Walmart or something, and use the name and password you registered with, it was a week after that when I was credited.

Which AOL deal is this? The AOL 9.0 offer I signed up has no disc involved and I needed to enter a credit card number (which means I can only do it once). I also received my points in about 4 days. Seems like a completely different offer...

I was similarly burned by Chettle Investments -- for two of their sites. I was charged $39.95 x 2, despite having cancelled within the 1-day trial (beware, by the way, it's not quite free... ~$2.50 "credit card processing fee" for the 1-day free trial). I emailed their customer service numerous times over the course of a month, but got no replies and no credits to my card. I ended up having to report my card as stolen to get my bank to investigate and credit me.

Aside from Chettle, I've had no problems with FreeVideoGames.com.

shopping-4money.com

Those are the three Chettle offers that I did (one of them, not sure which, did let me cancel successfully).

Yeah, as I said, I believe it's a problem with Chettle's online cancelation. It could probably be easily avoided by picking up a phone and canceling that way. I've never had a problem getting reimbursed by them, though. They generally are pretty prompt about replying to my e-mails. Strange that you had the oposite experience, merphle. It's certainly something to be weary of...

oNeWiNgEdAnGeL: I've received both Mario Golf and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from freevideogames.com in the past few months. They do come through if you can get through the hassle of signing up and canceling all of the offers required.

This actually works I have received my game about 25 days after I ordered it. I didnt get any double billing and only paid $7 total for my free game.

I have just decided to go ahead and collect enough points to get 2 more free games (metal Arms, and POP) but I have no worries doing this.

I can tell you I set up a seperate email address figuring I would get multiple junk mail and I have yet to get one piece of junk mail.

Also the credit card companies protect you if you are mischarged and its not corrected.

One tip I can give is always check the terms and conditions and write down the phone number it is easier to get help at this number than the number listed on your credit card bill.

I naturally was extremely skeptical and did just enought o get one game. After about 20 days i kind of figured it was a scam and then the game showed up.

The last thing is check all the little boxes on their sign up pages sometimes they automatically check another box that has you signing up for another program at the full monthly price.

I would say total time invested for 3 $50 games would be around 3-4 hours. So its roughly $37.5 an hour.

If you're carfeul, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. I just wrote down every offer I signed up for and cancelled a few minutes after signing up for them. As long as you keep the cancellation numbers and any emails you should be fine if you had any problems with the sites after cancelling.

FYI - I didn't have any problems cancelling, but it never hurts to be careful.

the aol does not require a credit card. you can use a checking or savings account account number with it instead. This is the same procedure and the same advertisement you get when you sign up for aol anywhere.

Setup a different Email address. Open a word file and write down your password and email address.

Then go to freevideogames.com

Signup with your new email and give yourself a password. Again copy that info on to your word document for future use.

Then what I did is enter each ad as you will see below I made sure that I looked into the disclaimer (you don’t have to do this because I have the numbers listed below) and I copied down their phone numbers to cancel.

Then near the bottom make sure they don’t have any little check marks filled out for you (they like to throw in an offer for another of their sites at $14.95 make sure you turn that stuff off, and its unchecked)

Then what I did is wrote down the name of the site, (i.e. fitmd, driving for dollars, etc)

How much the initial fee was (i.e. $1, $2.95 etc)

Then how many points I was to get (i.e. 500 points etc)

Then how long the offer was good for (i.e. 1 day trial membership or 30 day membership) I had found that the 30 day trials seemed to not have your info right away so I waited 20 days to cancel those without any problems at all.

Then I wrote down the phone number next to the site I had found in the disclaimer. Eventually as I cancelled I wrote the cancel number down and the persons ID I had spoke to.

I had no problems cxling at all. I called them and simply said I looked it over and didn’t want it. They would start in and I would say nope sorry not interested and it was that simple. Don’t let them ramble because then they think they can sell you again.

See my list below. I already received Simpsons Hit and Run, I have since ordered Prince of Persia and Glitch.

Heres my list:
1. Homeworks Plus- $1.00 1-888-681-7216 within the first 30 days to cancel

2. Physcic realm 888) 968-5834 $2.95 cxl 1 day 500points

3. Free bidding $1 cxl 1 day 500 POINTS

4. Essentials $1 30 days 1-877-272-6535 300 POINTS

5. Connections $1 -877-503-4052 30 days to cxl 300 POINTS

6. Value max $1 fee -877-503-4087 30 days 300 POINTS

7. 24 Protector Plus $1 and 30 days to cxl 1-800-211-9749 300 POINTS

8. Bargain.com $Free -800-216-8757 or 800-300-6140 cxl 30 days 300 POINTS 800-447-7776

9. Escapes $1 30 days to cxl 877-272-6535 300 POINTS

10. Galleria $1 30 day cxl -800-411-8104 300 POINTS
11. Psychics for free $1 1 day cxl (500 points) 888-968-5834

12. FITmd Visa $1 1 day cxl (500 points) 888-968-5834

13. Shopping4 money Visa $1 1 day (500 points?) 888-968-5834

14. Winanylotto $1 1 day cxl 888-968-5834 (500 points)

15. Driving for dollars $1 1 day 888968-5834 (500 points)

I made my name and password the same on every site if I could to simplify things. The above info might be a little blotchy because I tried to cut my personal info out (passwords, cxl numbers etc). You will also notice a few numbers after some this is because I had to call a different number or I was on hold to long at some numbers. So I checked my credit card bill for an alternate number and called it.

Hopefully this helps someone. Let me know if something is confusing.

Oh yeah, and when you sign up for the various sites, it's best to use a different email address for each one of them, as many of the sites are connected to the same network. By using the same email address, when you sign up for one of the sites with it, when you go to sign up for another site, some of the offers that were on the first site, may not be viewable at the NEW site, as some of them only allow a single email address per site on the network.

It can get confusing, so just use a different email address for each site you sign up for. I suggest using either Yahoo.com or Zappo.com for the free email accounts.

Also, if you are all REALLY good, I'll let you in on the "Matchmaker Trick". :D

CAPTTRIPahh
12-10-2003, 12:11 AM
hey whats the matchmaker trick???

Downhome
12-10-2003, 12:18 AM
It's quite simple really.

To do the offer usually, you have to sign up and pay $10 (or $15 or $25, whatever, it seems to change every now and then...but I'm pretty sure it's $10 right now). Now, when you do it this way you CAN just call them and cancel your membership a few days later, usually 3-5 days later, and they'll give you the money back and that'll be it. However, when you start doing it over and over again for the various sites, it starts to be a little weird.

The trick cancels out the signing up, so you don't have to go through the trouble of having to get a refund, cancel your account, etc...

To do this, you need either a WebCertificite, an online gift card like the ones from SwiftGift, or some sort of Visa/Mastercard/etc... that has LESS than the amount needed to sign up for MatchMaker. When you do so, you'll get a message saying that you don't have the funds and that the transaction was declined, but you STILL get the instant points.

If you want to really make it simple, sign up using a CC that you have/had that is expired, use the right CC # and everything, and when you try to sign up it'll tell you it can't go through because it's expired. Once again, you STILL get the points.

Also, keep in mind once again that you need to use a different email address for each site. Because if you do the Matchmaker deal (or other deals) at say FreeDVDs.com and then you sign up for FreeDVD4Me.com with the same email address you used at FreeDVDs.com, the same offers will not be at FreeDVD4Me.com, as they are on the same network.

Just sign up with a different email address for each site you use.

I did only instant point offers. This could still mean 3 days or so but most are instant and then you can order things right away.

The easiest are teh 1 day trials because you dont forget and you can immediately cancel.

The second easiest are teh 30 day trials.

Hi guys, I just stumbled apon this thread. Ive been doing these offers for about a month now. Ive collected over 13,000 pts. Ive recieved an Xbox system, True Crime, Splinter Cell, and Manhunt(PS2). I ordered Manhunt 4 days after it was released. Total invested: $27.44. It does work, I never got charged for the memberships just the processing fees. Best ones in my opinion was the credit card deals. 800 pts once your aproved. When you get call and cancel the card and cut it up. Some of the offers I signed up for never even charged me the $1 or so. I kept a spread sheet of all the offers I did. There are some very good suggestions listed in this thread like making a new email address (I did at Yahoo) Finding the 800#s in the terms and conditions. Signing up for new credit cards and then cancel? Doesn't that just destroy your credit rating?

If you don't cancel them then they can show up on your credit report. Think of it this way, its like going to the bank to apply for a loan. Just because you are approved doesnt mean you want the loan. You're just seeing if your able to get it.

When I get to the points page, and even after clicking View More -- most of the ones mentioned here aren't listed, but it appears there's a slew of new picks for points. For instance, instead of FITmd anywhere to be found, I see Netflix -- :?:

EDIT: What's more, I don't see, either on the banner, nor on the linked page to sign up, any disclaimer information with phone numbers for cancellation.

If you sign up for a bunch of credit cards, get approved, and then cancel it CAN and will hurt your credit rating over time. I looked into this months ago, my uncle who is a vice president of a local bank helped me out with that one.

Yes credit card opening WILL hurt your credit report.

I would watch doing this multiple times, and once they are opened the damage is already done cxl is not going to help.

The downside to having a bunch of open credit cards is you *could* get turned down for a loan or other form of credit in the future. Due to large available credit. Essentially they dont want you to run yourself up with all your open credit.

Another thing is dont think "well I will just sign up for this new card offer and transfer my current card onto it and cancell my current card" You want to keep your oldest credit card open even if it carries a zero balance. This shows how long you have had credit and works to your advantage.

If you guys ever dive into the FreeDVD4Me or FreeCDs4Me websites, do NOT just start doing the offers left and right.

They have what's called "weekly bonus DVDs". When you complete a certain amount of certain offers durring the week, you can get a 100% free DVD of our choice out of whatever the picks are that week, and you KEEP the points for the offers to spend on something else. In short, you do the offers and you get both the points for the offers you did, and the bonus DVD (for free, no points used for it).

They have other special deals all the time also, so just try to keep up with what they have going on there. Just, like I said, don't aimlessly start doing the offers there, or you could miss out on the bonus free DVDs.

Just a heads up.

Well guys, you were right. You made me nervous so I called my bank and talked to a loan rep. I told here what I did. I applied, got approved, recieved the card, then canceled. She informed me that its not opening and closing card acounts that hurt you its everytime you apply for a card they pull a credit report which gives you a "mark". The marks are whats bad. I told her I did 3 diff. cards and she said I would be fine. So with that I take back my remark about the credit cards being the easiest. I assume the offer for consumer info (credit report) falls in the same category. Im sure glad you guys posted that. Thanks!

Ok,

Good to hear. Want to know the truth on activated cards? Ever get one and try to use it at say a gas station before you called? I have and they work no problem. So you are right once you apply and are approved the credit is given.

Also you might check with that loan officer I believe there is a certain time period in which it just hurts you the initial time. For example say you apply for 3 credit cards all within the same week. You only get marked down for trying once. I cant verify that but I did hear it somewhere.

As for my games I didnt believe this system worked so I tried it with just one game. About 2 months ago. None of the bigger titles that are out now where out yet so I ordered Hit and Run. Sure enough early November it came now I have ordered Glitch and Prince of Persia.

Another thing I want to touch on is this. Some people are hesitant due to the wait and they want a new game NOW.

Ok buy it at say Target (90 day return policy folks) play the crap out of it and when your new copy arrives from the website return that one to Target and get your money back, or your credit back on your card. Most cards have a 30 day grace so you wont even get interest charged.

Hold on to the receipt though.

Sorry to repost -- but I asked some questions during the Credit Card scare, and understandably was ignored for the more important task at hand.

Now that we all know to stay away from the credit card offers -- I was noticing a number of the 1 Day/500Pts w/ easy Cancellation Phone #'s and were listed initially here, are no longer on the page for offers. I clicked on "View More", and none of the FITmd, DrivingForDollars offers were available anymore (or so it seems).

In fact, a lot of the offers seem somewhat new ventures, and thus a little tricky for a newbie at this to manuever through. I haven't taken the plunge, as far as signing up with any offers, but I've got an account now, and I'm wanting to understand this stuff 100% before hopping aboard (glad we found out about the Credit Card thing, because those are the "best" offers!).

LAST (first?) question guys: If you sign up for a 30-90 Day offer, can you instantly cancel, or will you be waiting for information that requires you to wait days, or possibly weeks, in order to cancel (effectively screwing people like me with short attention spans)?

~Dak

when you click on an offer it tells you what to do for the offer. for example many of the 7 day trial offers tell you that you must wait at least 3-4 days in order to "try" their service before cancelling orthey can take your points away. If it does not say anything in the little pop up box about when you can cancel, then you should be able to cancel at anytime

New one to stay away from: Lowermybills. This was to switch your long distance carrier. Well, I did this with no problem. I got my phone bill today and there was a $5 charge from my local carrier. Granted its only $5 but hey, I thought Id get the points for free! I also canceled the long distance as soon I recieved the points.

With all the 30 or 90 day trials, I canceled as soon as I recieved my points unless they were "instant points". Those I canceled in about 3 to 4 days. I never seen anything about getting points taken away or ever had this happen.

I can say I have signed up for 7 or 8 offers and never got charged the $1 or whatever for the processing fee. Maybe thats why they dont want you to cancel so soon.

DakZero
12-11-2003, 03:47 PM
So what's the story on those 30-Days through 90-Days deals, you CAN cancel them right away and still get your points??

I signed up with 10, 300pts plans last night -- and only one was a 7-Days plan I thought I could cancel right away, the rest were 30-Days and warned me that if I cancelled within anything less than 7 days, they'd revoke the points. This isn't true then? (Except the Instant Points offers? Those make up about 85% of the Offers page, don't they?)

Anyhoo -- here's an odd question. What do I spend my points on? I mean, what would be best suited for something like this? It was mentioned in one of the earliest posts that it takes a long time to receive anything, even after you get points and make an order -- so we shouldn't order anything we think we'll break down and buy locally, or through some other great cheap ass deal.

~Dak

PS: I cancelled the Instant Points, Bargain.com -- right away -- and I still have the points. :)

You have to be a member of the site at the time they send you the gift certificate. Plus, the fine print on the form they send you says it takes 8-10 weeks to process.

The fine print lies :). I have received multiple gift cards for signing up with those deals. The only catch is it generally takes about a week for them to mail you the reward claim form (make sure you request it immediately after signing up - the method of requesting will vary from deal to deal) and it takes another 2 weeks or so for them to process and send your gift card, so you will generally be cutting it very close to the end of the trial period. If you are one of those people with short-term memories (like me) then be SURE to make a note of when you signed up and put it in a place that you will look at often.

I have had an interesting and distressing thing occur due to all this (something of a heads up to everyone, and a request for opinions on how to handle this)...

I've signed up with a number of the 300pts Offers, mostly because there's been like, two obvious companies doing 95% of them and it's been quick and easy. None of them have given me a problem, and when (almost always happens with the second of the two companies' sites) a banner pops up wanting me to sign up with a second website for some deal, I quickly close the window.

However, I just tried to sign up with the website, Event Privileges, for 200pts -- and it said a membership had already been signed up for with that credit card. I didn't get credited the pts at FreeVideoGames.com -- so that means somehow they automatically signed me up, without my permission.

I'm under the impression the first company's name is DealPass.com -- and the second one is the Trilegiant Corporation. Anyone know if you can just call DealPass and Trilegiant Corporation, and tell them to cancel your services and discontinue use of your credit card with all of their affiliates, all in one swift stroke? That would be nice, assuring, and a damn fast way of cancelling these websites.

~Dak

DakZero
12-12-2003, 05:06 AM
One big "uh oh" guys.

The Trilegiant Corporation has had a number of run-in's with the Bureau of Better Business, and has been under scrutiny for "deceptive selling practices, unauthorized charges to consumers' credit cards, and non-cancellation of memberships following cancellation requests".

Anyone know the number for Trilegiant and the BBB?

~Dak

Snake2715
12-12-2003, 10:56 AM
Another thing to note.
if you already signed up call the company (number is found in terms and conditions on the companys appliation page. Do a chek on the phone and have them send you a confirmation email that you just signed up.

Then forward that email to Free videogames.com (info to do that is in the FAQ) and then you will receive your points.

I did this due to accidentally using the wrong email I called gave the comapny a correct email(a new email is hard to remember sometimes) and then had them forward me the confirmation that I had signed up.

I then proceeded to forward that email to the address given in the FAQS and they gave me my points with 24 hours

For anyone whom I scared the bejezus out of (and anyone doing these offers should be a wee bit concerned with Trilegiant), I called "Event Privileges" and discovered that my information is NOT in their system and that signing up for that many Trilegiant companies at once might've just put a cap on the volume I was able to sign with for that short a period of time. I tried to enter my email address and password (entered at ALL of these sites) and it didn't recognize me either -- so I think they're evil claws aren't imbedded quite as deep as I had feared.

Still... I might be getting a new credit card (with new last four digits) after this is all done.

But I ordered my shiney, new, GBA SP Platinum!

You know... If you're going to sign up for one of the Credit Card offers anyway, you may as well use that credit card for all the other offers that require credit cards. That way any charges to it will be easily noticed, and you can avoid any of the companies charging you later by cancelling the credit card once you're done picking up free games.

DakZero
12-12-2003, 03:00 PM
<< which offers are trilegiant? >>

The following I know for sure are Trilegiant Corporation's companies (not all appear at FreeVideoGames.com).

Complete Home, Clever Clubhouse, Autovantage, Buyers Advantage, Digital ProtectionPlus, Great Fun, HealthSaver, 1-800-7-HEALTH, Hot-Line, Just for Me, National Card Registry, Netmarket.com, PrivacyGuard, Shoppers Advantage, TravelersAdvantage, Travel ER, 1-800-E-Assist, and probably the AOL Offer -- because they're in charge of marketing for AOL now, I believe.

They're like a "Power Seller" on eBay -- where they've got a lot of credit on one hand (Yahoo Finance quotes their "Credit Card PROTECTION and Fraud" division -- how's that for ironic?), but are so big, it's impossible not to be somewhat corrupt (with lots of bad feedback in the form of people sending complaints to the BBB about them).

If the lady was being honest on the phone, "Event Privileges" doesn't have me listed as a member and I'm not going to be charged by them -- still creepy when you're told an account already exists on that credit card.

Not yet -- but I just started all of this late last week. I've only been able to cancel two of the offers so far, due to time and business hours (most of these places close by 8pm on the weekdays).

Though I've ordered a GBA SP Platinum, it's still pending -- so we'll see. I'm only about one more offer away from another game, and I'll probably make it Animal Crossing or something. We'll see.

Nonetheless, I'm still going to call this particular card in as lost or stolen, get a new card with new last four digits. That way, if I've cancelled and they're still trying to squeeze me for money, they'll have to do that much more work, and I'll have cut off their ties with me. I'd like to see them take a fraudulant billing to a lawyer to ruin my credit -- they'd have to contact me physically (mail or phone) and I'd be able to bring up all the cancellation information proving they're full of it. That's the best way as far as I've come up with, out of any possible trouble.

So I am assuming the deal is either terribly slow or its pretty much over. The people running the site are probably getting to many requests for games and the sites that are sponsored are getting to many cancels.

Again I will keep you posted as to the status but as of now it doesnt look good.

Just be very catious about doing this unless you do the totally free ones. i have about $14 invested in to getting the latest two games I ordered and I have a feeling that its all wasted. So take it for what you will.

They do occasionally get new deals, and they remove old ones as well. I'm assuming companies get fed up with people signing up and then canceling before their trial period is over, but honestly what do they expect from something called "FREEvideogames.com"? People are there because they DON'T want to pay money :).

I have a question that I'm not entirely sure anybody will know the answer to. I've ordered multiple games from them and I still have no idea. Does anybody know who their "supplier" is? I'm trying to get them to include a free copy of Splinter Cell with my order of Prince of Persia (which, as a word of warning for those interested in ordering it, is horribly back ordered right now). The e-mail support person told me that they don't think their "supplier" is participating in the offer. I'm curious who their supplier is because as far as I know, every major retailer is doing it. Anybody know?

Still a word of caution. on this site. I personally would just wait until people actually start to get their game sbefore ordering from them and investing the time and $10-$15.

This is my latest email and I will also post the response.

Hi, I placed my order over 1 month ago. It said that it would ship in 2 weeks and at that time it was changed to "Backorder". It then said backorder items are shipped within 2 weeks and yet that time period has expired. I am just curious if I should expect the items any time soon or what the status is. I have talked with other people that have used your site and they seem to be experienceing the same problems?

Their Response:

I understand your frustration with your backorder item. Please note that our supplier and our staff are working hard to get your order out. Due to an extreme spike in traffic and orders being out of stock, it is taking us awhile to ship out orders. Please rest assure that you will receive your order.

A couple things to note:
1) Orders cannot be expedited.
2) You will receive an email when your order is shipped.
3) We are working on processing your order and expect it to be able to ship in under 2-3 weeks, although we cannot guarantee this.

Thanks so much for your patience during this busy period.

This makes sense witht he holidays as well as this site being sold all over ebay and then posted on this site as well as others I am sure they are well on backorder. Just an FYI as this may never pan out or at least not for a few months. I am guessing that sometime in Feb or March I will see the games.

With a little questioning, I managed to find out that their supplier is a distributor called Fillpoint. I tracked down the website: http://www.fillpoint.com/. Now my question is, does anybody know if the free Splinter Cell deal is handled by Ubi Soft through the distributor, IE: are the retailers sent copies of both games when they order PoP, or is it strickly on the retailers end, where they are taking the financial hit, IE: when Nintendo does price drops? Or is is possibly something I'm overlooking completely? I know embarassingly little about how the retail side of video games works .

Unless you use a web certificate (http://www.webcertificate.com), which is basically a prepaid online gift certificate in the form of a Mastercard number. Buy one for yourself and use it for the freevideogames.com site.

Well,

Its scary what anybody can get on you just by knowing your name. I work in insurance and we can get Drivers license numbers and credit histroies etc just from your name. I am sure someone that was out to scam has more resources than me.

Anyway the good news is most credit cards are protected and the one I used expires soon.

The second bit of good news is:

I RECEIVED BOTH MY GAMES YESTERDAY!!

They were delayed for a bit but I did get them as I had the first time around. SO all is good the site seems to work for me and I have no complaints.

Actually many of the companys that you sign up with are very reputable so it can not be a scam e.g. American online and Stamps.com (stamps.com is an affilate of the U.S. Postal service...it is recommended by the government). So just becareful with witch offers you sign up for. Also My game that was on backorder since late Dec. 18 shipped yesterday!

Okay gang, I got my first FreeVideoGames.com shipment yesterday, and it was a sweet shipment at that. A free Game Boy Advance SP Platinum. Haven't been charged anything crazy yet, and I started all this in November, so you'd think by now I'd have been scammed if it was gonna happen.

I just need another 300 points for a super sweet GBA game, or another 900-1000 for a super sweet GC game. I'll probably just get something like Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the GBA, and call it all a done deal. Anyway, thanks to whomever pointed this site out in the first place!

After reading the posts in the topic, I had to try the site.

But, unfortunately, I can't use a credit card, and am not going to take the risk of a credit scam to my mother's account. I am only 16, of course.

So, I opted for what one user suggested. Using a Webcertificate from Webcertificate.com, I got the minimum amount, and purchased it with a CC. Of course, purchases aren't as risky as the site may be, so, I can go to that extent.

Keep in mind, the minimum is $20, with a $2.95 Processing fee. The fee didn't mean much, with so much at stake.

I then went and signed up for as many Instant point offers as I needed to get 1400 Pts, enough for Pokemon Ruby. All of the offers which also included something extra, such as a $25 Home Depot/Amazon.com, or DVD, were nearly identical to each other in one of two designs. One of them wouldn't accept the Webcertificate, and another wouldn't process to CA. Oh well.

I am currently waiting on an email which will verify my account, so I can order my item. Will report the results when it transpires.

Currently, I got 190 points on that site. He's the offers I did

eBay (120), Eversave (20), Free American Flag Window Cling (20), Jackpot (20)

And I referred a friend. Trust me, take advantages of this offers I just listed, they're easy as hell. I guess since I won't use my parent's credit card for this I'll just stick to 20 point offers and someday I'll be able to get a cheap XBox game free.

cartoonin99
01-23-2004, 03:14 AM
I don't believe that a cancelled credit card will work seeing as how some of the sites do charge a "processing fee" of a dollar or so. The one that charged the most was $6.95 for the video professor site, but you get to choose a cd rom from them so it's not like you're not getting nothing for the money. All in all I believe I'm paying between $15-$20 for all the sites I sent in for on my cc. I will be going in and cancelling all the trial memberships after I receive the GBA. That's about an hour or so of typing and calling to all the different places. So between that and the money I spent I still think it's a good deal to save between $80 or so dollars. :)

01-23-2004, 11:56 PM
Yes, there's a minimum deposit, I can't remember what it is though.. maybe like $20 or something. If you read the TOS it will tell you. But a word of caution: I installed one of those casino things from the site and the software hijacked my IE browser... It would start re-installing itself every time i rebooted or started up IE, and it would re-direct my URL's i typed in to its own casino site if the URL had the name "game" in it... (like www.cheapassGAMEr.com). I couldn't remove it with any type of ad software like adaware and i had to eventually go into my windows registry and edit a few things.

GSBS
01-24-2004, 02:11 AM
There's a reason why those things offer such big points.

You have to make a deposit, and play any bid. The minimum for deposit is $50. This might be decent, if you deposit $50, lose a buck, then withdraw it. But, I don't know what the conditions of withdrawal are. You may have to put those points into store credit, etc.

The same goes for most anything else with 1400+ Pts. There's usually a $40+ dollar fee or deposit, putting a lot more on the line. You'd have to be sure with what you are doing.

If all goes as plan, this is what I should be getting...

Some pills (Don't know what, but it was free!)
5 DVD's (New)
Pokemon Ruby (New)
Fire Emblem (New)

For $20, thats not bad, but I'm waiting. The games were from FVG, while the DVD's were part of an instant 300 Pt deal, for $2.69. The Pills were part of the Trimlife PLUS deal. Keep in mind, PLUS. It cost me $1 in shipping, for 320 Instant Pts. As opposed to the others, with $2.50+ S&H. Even if I don't receive the other free stuff, then I get the games.

It don't know HOW they know whether or not a deal was used, but I have used all good ones available. I tried deleting my cookies AND making a new account, but when I click on any deals I have used already on another account, the deal is pronounced dead. I'll try it on another CPU, and see what I get. I suppose they are keeping track of your IP, so they don't get scammed out of multiple games.

If I get my games, they I would proclaim this the best deal I have EVER used online. Very deal worthy.

My newest view on this subject is if you dont have a credit card, go mow a lawn or something. Its less frustrating, better for you, and when you get a game your gonna feel like you earned it... Its just not worth 10+ hours to get a free game with the non-credit card deals... If you have a CC, great, do the deal, if not do some honest work. Its not that hard...

How often do the offers change? I'm pretty much left with only the credit card or casino ones, and those seem like trouble.

You could always send their customer service a quick e-mail and find out whether or not it's the complete package. 2100 points is quite a lot to gamble on something like that.

Wowser! It worked. I LOVE this site now...

Out of no where, Pokemon Ruby came in a white cardboard box, factory sealed. I wasn't expecting it, considering my Account Status still has it listed as Pending. Only took me a week.

I used $23 for all of my workings. A Webcertificate worked wonders. Only problem; I used my REAL address for many of the offers. My advice; use your Email address (so you GET the points), and a Webcertificate, along with a fake name and address. I am likely to cancel all of the offers, considering the revolve around the 5 for $.50 + $5 for $20 offers. Use a fake address, or send it to some schmoe you hate ;/

I currently have ordered Fire Emblem, Pokemon Ruby, and have 310 spare points. If I can get another 300, I'll refer for 200, and get Advance Wars aswell. Very nice for $23 and some phone calls.

BTW, I'm receiving other free stuff through the mail. Some Vitamins came, and a quick phone call canceled that membership. Some Coupons came, and another Phone call should cancel that (didn't receive it till yesterday, and calling is M-F till 5). The 5 DVDs I got could be a problem. I'll have to send that back, but book shipping may cost another $1. Not bad, though.

Either way, this works wonders if you have some spare time, and some patience.

A webcertificate is basically an online gift certificate, but they way it works is you get assigned a Mastercard number to spend it. The web site calls it "The Virtual Mastercard Gift Card".

So you can give yourself a webcetificate and use the assigned credit card number to sign up for the deals. That way, if they try to charge you in the future, even though you cancelled, they won't be able to. Think of it as a prepaid credit card.

Oh, here's another thing. I signed up for Netflix through Freevideogames.com. Unlike most offers on there, it stays up after you've done it. No big you might say...I think its a big big, hehe, here's why.

If you actually WANT to be a member, it works out great. Join every month, and cancel every month. Everytime you sign back up however make sure you do it through Freevideogames.com, to net yourself the 550 points. Since a new $50 game is around 2000 pts, they're giving you about $13 dollars in game credit everytime you sign up. More really since you don't have to pay sales tax OR shipping charges. Do that monthly and watch it add up. Save points for the next generation consoles or use'em up!

Update: they finally fixed it for me. Of course, now they jacked up the prices on their items, so for me to get enough points to get a game for free I'll have to spend some actual money. I'll probably just go for the Xbox controller (at an actual cost of $4) then bail.

This is probably the biggest YMMV vary deal ever. Some people got loads of free stuff, some people got hosed.

But again, READ the fine print, people. Somewhere, in some tiny thing, it had to say $5 cancellation charge (if it didn't sue them). As long as you are VERY careful about cancelling before the trial ends and know every single possible charge, you should do ok.

EDIT: At the very least, call your credit card company and dispute the charge. It's an odd situation, no one else here or on FatWallet complained about this charge before.

I managed to get 4 games from this deal so far. Crimson Skies, Project Gotham Racing 2, Champions of Norath, and Armed and Dangerous. It took a couple weeks for the games to ship form the date of release. I probably ended up spending about $15 of my money to participate in the trial offers, but you end up getting free stuff from them. I only have 4 trials left to cancel. The reps are always persistent, so just be persistent (and courteous) back and you shouldn't have any problems. Just think about the free games you're getting out of the deal.

Good deal. Sucks that point ranges went up. Oh, and doing the big point offers, especially online casinos, can be a pain. It takes a long time to get your points, and they don't do it automatically. You have to contact Freevideogames.com and provide proof.
