Well just thought I'd post this since its worked great for me. If you live in Canada you will notice how much M$ rips us off when it comes to buying points. For 20 dollars we can only get 1250 points, not even enough to buy two 800 point games (which the majority of games are priced at). Well here is a solution.
Now there is a lot of speculation out there as to whether or not those 1600 points cards work on Canadian accounts or not. So to clear up the confusion here is the answer; they don't. But there is a way to cheat the system as it were.
1) All you need to do is create a hotmail account that states the user is living in the US (including a zip code).
2) Using that account you can then sign up for a new xbox live account, and it will make the location of the account in the United States.
3) Now XBL will ask a few other questions such as the address as well as a phone number (you cannot skip this). Now you could try putting in random info for this, but I prefer consistency. So take a trip over to www.whitepages.com and using the zip and a generic last name (such as smith, brown, doe etc.) do a search. Chances are you will find an address, phone number etc. that matches the zip code you entered in hotmail.
4) You are now done. Go ahead and redeem your code in the marketplace, under this account. It will work.
But what if I want to play games in my main account (I like getting achievements)? Don't worry, if you haven't noticed already all content on the hdd is available to all users. In other words if you download uno in one account, it can be played by all the others without difficulty.
Ebay is a great place to buy these cards, you can usually snag them for 18 - 20 bucks, and these are buy it nows. You could try auctions but I've been watching this for about a month, and all the actions end in the 20 dollars range anyway. As of writing this I have come across an auction offering 1600 point codes (delivered via email) for 15.87 a piece (including a 0.99 delivery fee).
