Title speaks for itself. After getting my 37" LCD TV, I bought a 3-device HDMI switchbox. Allows me to use my Cablebox, MCE Computer, and PS3 with the TV. But my "switchbox" that lets me use the optical cables with my 5.1 system is manual, so while I can switch video sources from the couch, I have to get up to switch the audio. Anyone seen an animal like I'm describing?

Maybe you could just use some of these along with some cheapo optical cable?

You can just wire all your optical inputs into your receiver... you won't need to switch anything- just make sure the other sources are off.

I tried using the splitter that Vinny mentioned, but only had limited success. It seems that the splitter degrades the signal to the point that you can only split it once. It worked fine when I used a single splitter to connect my XBOX and PS2, but when I added a PS3 into the mix, I got no audio from anything.

I now use a Pelican Universal System Selector PRO. Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16878104208&ATT=78-104-208&CMP=OTC-Froogle) has the same model that I have for $75 plus $8.94 shipping.

Well, that adapter definately indicates it's for 1 input to multiple outputs. And while my Logitech Z-5450's have two optical inputs, I don't really like the idea of sending two inputs to one output.... hence the desire for a switch.

The pelican looks like it has 4 optical connectors. Does that mean you can switch between 3 inputs to one output? If so, between that and the 2nd input on my Logitech setup... that *would* work. Hmmm...

Yup, 3 optical inputs and 1 output. Also has 5 component video inputs, so you could use it for that if you needed to.

It's a bit overkill if you're planning on using for just the Optical audio though.

With a quick search on Froogle, I found this. (http://www.atomicpark.com/xq/aspx/cables-to-go-28731-3-play-audio-video-selector/wt.mc_id.55/prodid.51394/buy.hardware/techspecs.product/qx/productdetail.html) Which is cheaper and has 3 inputs for Optical as well as S-Video and composite video. No clue on the reliability of the site though.
