View Full Version : WWE DVD Blowout at Wal-Mart.

I made a post about this in the wrestling board, but it definitely warrants its own thread here - DOZENS of WWE DVDs are $4 and 9 at Wal-Mart locations nation-wide. The ones I saw at the Woodbridge, VA Wal-Mart last night were:
Road Warriors: the Life and Death of Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team
Rebellion '02 (Edge vs. Lesnar),
Unforgiven '02 (Benoit vs. Angle)
Brock Lesnar: Here Comes the Pain ($4)
Chris Benoit: Hard Knocks ($4!)
Rob Van Dam: One of a Kind ($4)
John Cena: Word Life (probably $4, and I'll buy it for the matches with Lesnar, Benoit, and Eddie that are on it)
No Way Out '06 (with Angle vs. Taker, which I'll buy Saturday)
Summerslam '05 (Eddie vs. Rey, Hogan vs. HBK, which I'll buy Saturday)
Vengeance '04 (Edge vs. Orton, which I already own)
Unforgiven '04 (HHH vs. Orton, which I have no major desire to own)
World's Greatest Wrestling Managers (this was $9, and has FUJI VICE... so I'll buy it Saturday)
Bad Blood '04 (HHH vs. HBK in a cell, I'll probably buy it Saturday)
Armageddon '05 (Kash vs. Juvi is excellent)
Backlash '04 (already own it, but it's got Orton vs. Foley and Benoit vs. HHH vs. HBK II, so BUY IT!)
No Mercy '04
No Mercy '05 (Eddie Guerrero's final PPV)
Survivor Series '05
No Way out '04 (Eddie Guerrero wins the WWE title)

Other deals that have been confirmed through photos, but that I haven't seen are:
Taboo Tuesday '04 for $4
Superstar Billy Graham: 20 Years Too Soon for $4
Million Dollar Tough Enough for $4
Before They Were Superstars for $4
The Stone Cold Truth
Taboo Tuesday '05
Backlash '06

I'm probably forgetting some that I saw, as there was just way too much to keep track of mentally, but this is easily the best wrestling DVD deal yet, so stock up on stuff you might've missed before while it's still readily available at Wal-Mart.

If they're in the dump bin, then yes, it's a universal deal. All Wal Marts should have these.

I saw stuff in its own display at the front of the store and in a dump bin in the electronics area. I'm not sure what lead to all of these DVDs being available at such a low price, but I'm grateful for it, as I walked out of Wal-Mart with 5 DVDs for about the regular price of just the Road Warriors set.

Here's a photo of one of the displays (although not the one at my local store, I found this shot online) -

The Chris Benoit set at 3.88 is an absolute steal. I'd also say pick up the Road Warriors set and the World's Greatest Managers set for 8.88 or whatever Wal Mart has them priced at.

JaytheGamefan

The Managers and Road Warriors DVDs (managers one is only one disc, unfortunately) are both $9 - I price checked them with an in-store scanner.

I agree with Jay, this is not the place for that. Plus even if you don't care for the WWE, there are several DVD's still worth getting. Hopefully the Wal-Mart close to me has some of these available.

There's a world of difference between what WWE broadcasts and what they do with their DVDs. The Benoit set is especially amazing.

Thanks OP! I will have to check this out. Does anyone know if one of the DVDs on sale contain the steel cage match between the Undertaker and Mankind (with ladders and thumbtacks added into the mix) or Undertaker vs. HBK? Those were one of the most memorable matches I remember.

The Taker/HBK Cell match is on HBK's set (maybe Taker's as well), and neither of those are included in this sale... that I know of. The Taker/Foley cell is on at least one of Foley's DVDs and probably Taker's. It didn't involve ladders, but did involve everything else imagineable. None of the sets with the stuff you want are known to be part of this, but that could change, as it seems like WWE and Wal-Mart are combining forces to clear out the remaining stock. It might be due to WWE getting a new distribution parter for their DVDs (Genius) and them wanting to clear out all of their Sony-published inventory, or they just want to clear out a bunch of older releases - either way, it's a win/win deal for fans, as just about every style of wrestling is represented between these various sale items.

THis seems to be YMMV in regards to whether or not your store actually has the DVD's. Some may just be slower then others in receiving the product or actually placing it on the sales floor, but of the 3 Wal-Mart I was at today, only one actually had the DVDs that were on sale.

This is true, my Walmart seems to get stuff like this in a week late or so. I'm so tempted to just go out right now and see if they have this.

I may check out my WM, but my guess is that low price WWE dvds in a Wal-Mart is akin to putting an entire honeyglazed ham in the middle of an overeaters anonymous meeting - those in attendance benefit from presence, while everyone else loses.

I recommend anything that isn't a PPV, including the Billy Graham DVD. I don't imagine it sold very well, but I'll be damned if it isn't amazing to watch a man fall apart the way he did (even though they don't really hammer the "this is what happens when you abuse anabolic steroids" point home enough).

Any collections or "best ofs" are well worth $4 or $8.

The Managers DVD seems to be a hidden gem in WWE's DVD catalog, as it has a lot of old footage that isn't on anything else, and yet didn't really get much advertising on WWE TV.

I had a feeling Austin's DVD would be part of it, thanks for the confirmatin. It's a pretty good DVD, but is greatly hurt by only being one disc. The documentary is fantastic, and it's got a good assortment of extra matches - well worth $9 in my opinion.

I'm combing through other boards to compile as definitive a list as possible, and Backlash '06 and Taboo Tuesday, '05 are also available in this sale. TT '05 features Flair vs. HHH in a cage, while Backlash '06 had... GOD!

The dvd deals are amazing. Unfortunately, I bought the majority of these for $20 a piece! I do have another deal that's kinda late, though. Before I joined CAG, the Dollar General Stores (shitty place i work...so uh...no cheap pop cuz it sucks :D) had gotten in several different WWE VHS tapes (for those still into VHS) for $2.50! I bought half the box. So, I dunno if they would have any left in any other areas, but I thought I'd pass it along just in case.

The "History Of The WWE Championship" is well worth even the $20ish I paid for it. While its light on the 70s era matches (which I'd like to see a bit more of) its still a nice run thru of the history of the title belt. Most worthy of a purchase if you ask me.

1. Electronics (obviously)

:-k That would be pretty typical of walmart to have moved what I want out of sight. I don't shop at Walmart, ever, so I can't say if the stores by me had these dvds at some point recently or not. I'm thinking this sale is only happening at say 1 out of every 4 Walmarts or so.

It was in the $4 row of the bin at my store, but it could've been moved there by accident. Even at $8, it's a good deal. Realistically, any of the career-spanning DVDs are worth that much.

I scanned it, it was 8, I too prefer the career spanning dvds (such as the Graham set, and the Legacy of the AWA which I got today for 12.99 from FYE) to the rehashes of PPV's as I dont watch current wrestling anymore since the buyouts of WCW and ECW years ago, the competition between the federations was what was so intriguing, monday might became a ritual switching back and forth between Nitro and Raw

WWE needs to release retrospectives of NWA/WCW, 4 Horsemen, & Starrcade (the original supercard preceding Wrestlemania)

There was a Horsemen set planned, but that's been nixed. There's going to be a set devoted to great wrestling families in '07, and WCW and ECW weren't bought out - they went out of business and WWE eventually bought the trademarks of each. They ended up paying more for ECW than WCW, which seems so very, very wrong on many levels. Many people stopped watching after the Monday night wars officially ended with the death of WCW - it's one of the biggest reasons why wrestling's fanbase has dwindles so much in recent years.

I can confirm this deal for the Wal-Mart in Union, NJ on Rt 22. There is a big stand, like the one on the first page of this topic, right past the McDonald's where you come in. Also, when I was buying the DVDs, I noticed that the only one's that wrang up for 3.88 were the ones from 2004 and the Billy Graham DVD. The one's that were 8.88 were the one's from 2005 to the present and all the Road Warriors, RVD, etc.

Maybe ECW, but if WWE just bought the trademark of WCW, how would they have ended up with their back catalogue, yes they bought the trademark, but that was part of the whole package including wrestler contracts (and the reason why Sting wasnt seen for so long I assume, just waiting for his contract to run out so he never had to actually work for WWE)

See they WERE bought out, I did follow this story for months and was sad to see WCW go , even though I prefered it in the 80's when controlled by Crockett under the banner of NWA

My mistake - I shouldn't have just said trademarks (I was mainly thinking ECW when I said that, since that's really all they bought aside from the library), but saying that the WWF "bought out" WCW just doesn't work for me for some reason, since the other potential buyer backed out, leaving WWE as the only company willing to purchase it. The company either died or was bought by the WWF since they had no TV deal - there weren't other options available at that point. WWE only acquired about 20 contracts, and didn't buy any contracts out other than Booker T and DDP, and just waited for other deals (like Goldberg's) to run out before persuing them.

WWE got the trademarks and footage for ECW, but they got into a mess of trouble using the logo and theme without having any legal right to in '01 since Heyman told them he could use them, even though he had no ownership of the company at the time. '01 was such an exciting year for so many reasons. It's hard to believe that it's been roughly 6 years since ECW died, and nearly 6 since WCW died as well. Anyways, back to the Wal-Mart deals - has anyone but that one guy seen 'Taker's set available as part of this sale?

I went to my Local Walmart this weekend and was able to pick up Chris Benoit Hard Knocks, Brock Lesnar and Billy Graham DVDs.

I think I got the last copies of Benoit and Graham.

They had lots of the PPV Sets and each dvd I bought was $3.88

I don't recall seeing it on WWE's '07 DVD release list, but I hope you're right, as they've certainly got all the material needed for a classic Horsemen set.

Ok, all this discussion cannot go by without me pimping my book, The Death of WCW, available at finer bookstores everywhere. It has all the details of WCW's history as well as its demise.

You may now resume your cheap ass reading. 8-)

Went to another Wal-Mart and was shocked to actually find that they had this set up (but was even more shocked to see Robocop on XBox on display in the case for $49.99). Picked up Royal Rumble 04 ($4), No Way Out '04 ($4, where Eddie wins the strap from Brock) and RVD's set ($8). They had loooooots of Benoit, Cena and Billy Graham ones, as well as Before They Were Superstars.. will go back next week after I get paid.. maybe. Dunno. I kinda want Rumble '06 but it was $8.

I bought Rob Van Dam: One of a Kind and the Billy Graham Story.

The Rob Van Dam: One of a Kind DVD is $8.88. Not $3.88.

The Benoit, Brock, Rumble '04, Rumble '06, and Summerslam '05 deals are also on walmart.com. I'm checking the other ones as well.

The majority of these dvds are online now. The list includes the majority of the 2004 ppvs (save for WM, Summerslam & Survivor Series of course) marked at $3.88 each, around half of the 2005 ppvs (including Eddie's final ppv marked at $8.88 each, and Summerslam) and a handful of 2006 ppvs, also $8.88. The RVD, Road Warriors, Managers, Cena and Stone Cold Truth dvds are also on there at this time and I believe each was $8.88. They also had the Tough Enough, Before they were Stars 2, and Rebellion dvds, each for $3.88. I could not, however, find the Benoit, Billy Graham or Brock Lesnar dvds. With tax & shipping they come out to about $5 for the $3.88 ones and $10 for the $8.88 ones.

I hope this helps out anyone who has had trouble finding these in stores.

I also came across the Royal Rumble box set, marked at $150 and scheduled for a March 13th release. The set was divided into 4 volumes like the WM Anthology, so hopefully they are released as 4 separate volumes as well.

I was going to go back to get a couple more, but they were sold out... and I saw - around - 50 DVDs two days earlier.

I guess an eBay hoarder picked them all up.
