Yea, I know... first there were the people bitching we get no AAA games, now people are bitching we got an AAA game but it's only one game?
The alternative to this, that was previously announced, was a bunch of shitty Genesis games you can find cheaper on PS2 / Xbox. You'd rather have that?

People who bitch about this really need to shut the fuck up. I mean, they complain about only getting crappy games, then one of the greatest games of all time gets put on the VC and they bitch because 2 shitty games didn't get put up with it.
Pretty much ANY game would have paled in comparison to LTTP. I know I wouldn't want any of my games put up at the same time. It's a smart move to only put this game up.

My god...
Wasn't it last week when Nintendo didn't release any game?
I thought Nintendo said there would be 5 games a week (including third parties)? Whatever happened to that?
And it's not the point if you can beat it in a week, which you can, but the fact Nintendo isn't giving us opinions. This and Mario (which everyone on Earth has played) are the only two Nintendo games worth playing. It's been two months since launch and we got two good games. At this rate it will take about 10 years for Nitnendo to release it's good games.
i have been bitching because Nintendo thought it was more important to have Baseball and Pinball then say DKC. It's not like the Wii has a ton of titles coming out for it, the VC should be filling in the gaps between the once a month Wii games.

Firstly, the Genesis Games are on PS2 and PSP, not Xbox. Secondly there are a few great games on it and I'd much rather have it. Plus since I've seen it for $10, a few great games and 2 dozen shitty games for $10 is far better than 1 great game for $8.

Uh... what? I was saying that the Sega Genesis Collection is a much better deal than buying them seperately on the VC, espicially when it's the shittiest ones from the collection showing up on the VC (like Bonanza Bros...).
Originally Sega had Comix Zone, Gain Ground, and Bonaza Bros scheduled for today. I was saying LttP is much better than getting those three games since those three games can be found cheaper than you'd buy them for on the VC.

I've personally beaten the game with every item and most heart pieces in about 3.5 hours (I got lucky at the digging and chest games and got the pieces the first try, and I've played through the game several times over the years so I knew where everything is).
Even if a person only played for an hour a day, it can still be beaten really fast, unless they suck badly at the game -- But I think thats where you were going, right? Misinterpreting posts on the internet FTW!

I'm sorry I don't think 1 good game a month is a good plan.
They can do one good game (Zelda) and one bad game (Pinball) a week for the first few weeks. They can release them faster in the beginnnig because there are less Wii games. Towards the end of this year there should be a lot of great Wii games so they can release the crap games then, or even less VC games then, not now. Plus after the release a lot of good games than the store would be more full and that would be better for shopping. Plus Nintendo said they want to make new games for teh VC so after a few dozen Nintendogames are leased they can release new ones. There are a lot of opinions Nintendo can do, but one game a month is not doing it for me. Further more it pisses me off that Japan gets DKC and Mario Kart when we get fucked over once again.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but were there not ratings for all SNES games? Or do they have to be re-rated? How does the ESRB handle compilations like the Sega Genesis collection then?
Edit: Mario RPG was rated K to A, so I assume it has to be changed since they no longer follow those guidelines.

The compliations get the rating of the most offensive game - this is why Sega didn't want to put Streets of Rage 1 - 3 on our Sonic Gems collection in the US, because SoR would have given it a T rating.
All the games have to be re-rated, you're correct.
How it worked is that Rare owns the properties they created... they own Banjo and Conker and took them with them. This is why, in the Diddy Kong Racing port to the DS, Conker and Banjo are long gone. For Nintendo to put Banjo Kazooie on the VC, they'd have to work out a deal with Rare / MS, and MS would rather just try and put the game on the XBLA since it's probably possible.
Rare created DKC 1 - 3 and 64 BUT all the characters they created are property of Nintendo, and Nintendo owns the rights. I'm pretty sure it's the same way with Mario RPG. It wasn't even until recently that Nintendo started including characters from DKC 2 in their games (like Dixie Kong).

They be developing it but their own characters aren't showing up in it, that's already been confirmed. No Conker, no Banjo, we're getting 4 new characters instead. I guess MS didn't want them to be in it or something, who knows.
And Gizmo, Rare created Diddy Kong, but I think it's one of those things where Rare could create anything they wanted inside Nintendo's universe, but Nintendo owns the rights to every character they create within the Donkey Kong franchise.
Honestly, who has yet to play this game before?
I haven't - but I do own an unopened GBA version of it. Maybe I can sell that as Botticus did and pick up the VC version. But damn, I need more Wii points cards (so I can only pay $4 for this by getting the card with my EB credit).

I have only played a little bit of it. There are probably quite a few people that bought a Wii that have never played SNES Zelda. I never had a Super Nintendo. I only had the Sega systems from genesis on. I will get it eventually but I'm playing Excite Truck now and Trauma Center, and then the baseball games come out. Might be awhile before I can play this one, but this is the 1 VC I was waiting for.
Square does own the right to the Mario RPG characters if you played Mario and Luigi. However I dont see them giving Nintendo any problem if Nintendo release it on VC.
If Rare wants to include Banjo and Conker, MS probably let them if they ask nicely. MS has allow Age of Empire and Mech Assult on DS already.

Microsoft would just put Banjo Kazooie on XBLA itself, more than likely, if it was possible.
SOTN opens up new doors in that regard.

A big reason for me getting a Wii was because of the VC... I mean, I can have all my games on one system, and never have to worry about them not working? I don't have to worry about fucking with a console, with blowing into a cart, with having 25 consoles hooked up to my tv?
I can turn on my Wii, play a game, turn it off.
I think by this time next year the VC is going to be huge.

i think they will, it would be really smart move.
I think comparing MS letting Nintendo have DS games is a lame point. MS doesn't have a handheld so putting it on a Nintendo platform doesn't hurt MS. Putting a Rare game on the VC instead of Xbox Arcade would hurt MS.

Because I haven't seen any Nintendo platform games on it's service and I am sure Rare wouldn't mind putting Killer Instinct on there with achievements and online play...

Yea... that's like saying SOTN can't show up because it was originally on the Playstation. They would just have to get it running on the 360. MS owns everything having to do with Banjo Kazooie, including the source code.
Originally you didn't see any games like that because MS had a 50mb limit.. they've since raised it so anything is possible.
Now, if MS was REALLY smart, they'd throw in Banjo Kazooie and Tooie on the XBLA the week (or a week before) Banjo-Threeie is going to come out... kind of like if they were to release the old Shadowrun games on XBLA before the new one hits.
I wish companies, Nintendo included, would start promoting their series in this way, and using the VC as a clever marketing tool. I'd love to see them throw some old Mario Party's on the VC in March to hype up Mario Party 8, and maybe some more Mario platformers in April (like SMB 3) to hype up Super Paper Mario.

The thing is though that Symphony of the Night was on the Saturn too. It's never been a Playstation exclusive. The difference is that Banjo Kazooie and Tooie might be tied up as Nintendo only games. I seriously doubt that Nintendo is not forward thinking enough to sign some type of exclusive contract with Rare for their Rare games on the SNES and N64 before they were bought out by Microsoft.

It's just a platform it's on, nothing more. Part of MS buying Rare from Nintendo was that they also bought the rights to Banjo Kazooie, Conker, I think Killer Instinct and can do with them what they please. MS owns the characters, the worlds, the source code, everything.
If such a contract was as you described, we'd be seeing Conker and Banjo Kazooie as part of Diddy Kong Racing, but we're not.
Nintendo kept the rights to everything created within the DKC universe but sold all of Rare's properties with Rare.
Here is proof from the Wiki... the "he" is Matt Cassimiania or whatver his name is, from IGN:
He stated that he had "met with some Rare/Microsoft staff" while attending the 2006 Game Developers Conference, who confirmed once and for all that the Virtual Console will not see any Rare-owned licenses. This means that classic Rare titles such as Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, and Banjo-Kazooie (to name a few) may be absent from the download service; GoldenEye 007 may be a possibility as the James Bond video game license is held by Activision and would require Activision's, not Rare's, permission to be released on the system. The Donkey Kong games that were developed by Rare remain unaffected, since Nintendo retain the rights to the Donkey Kong series.
The trademarks of the characters from the games that Rare made for Nintendo consoles (such as Conker of Conker's Bad Fur Day) were retained by Rare (apart from IP originally developed by Nintendo, i.e. Donkey Kong and Star Fox

Anyone else have a problem trying to get the Master Sword from that area on the top left of the map? I've never played this game before, but the text is coming out all scrambled and it won't let me take the sword. Is this a bug?

Anyone know if the gamecube zelda collector's disc works on the wii? If it does, then with the VC LttP download we can finally play every console Zelda on one system. (well, not counting the CDi ones.)

Square is smart enough. They released Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth on PSP and two months later they released Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria

Is it for Cube? The answer is Yes, so Yes, it will work.

Thanks, it sure looked like a bug.
Yep, already bought it, and played it through the first mini dungeon.
It looks great in 480p.
So the game is really optimized in 480p in the software, or is it some kind of upscaling the Wii does (not true 480p)?
A stupid question, I know, because the game is so freaking old, but I'm just nerd-curious...
Not that I'm sure anyone here needs to read this, but here's IGN's review of the VC release of LttP:

I never played it, all you are chumps for paying more then 8 bucks for this.
No not really, but I thought it would be cool to flip the argument that 8 bucks is too much for this game. I'll get it but not tonight, I have too many games to play. And I can always DL this game, it's not going to become rare like a game you buy at a B&M.

I'm tempted to pick one of those up, but I have a Wavebird and I don't mind the console looking ugly for a while. There's just way too many things that I need to get for the Wii before I start buying extra accesories I don't really need.

You could have every Zelda on the GC with the GB Player. And the Wii has a GC built into it, so it will play all GC discs.

You can spend $20 for it, on the GBA.
