Is there any information on whether there is going to be a full fledged baseball game for the Wii this year? I can't find any info on 2k7 being for the Wii (if it will eventually be released) and the college baseball game is only for the PS2. That dissapoints me about the college game as I thought EA would be able to bring it to the Wii, since they did such a nice job with Madden.

The only baseball game I've heard about for the Wii is The Bigs from 2K Sports.

This over-the-top baseball action title puts an entirely new spin on Major League Baseball as it blends outrageous visuals and intuitive gameplay mechanics to bring fans a brand new MLB video game experience. Developed by Blue Castle Games, The Bigs brings blazing graphics to huge proportions with larger-than-life MLB player models and ballparks as gamers take advantage of spectacular power-ups with outrageous special effects.

I don't know too much about the game, but I hope it's not too over the top. Their was a short preview for the game in Tips and Tricks magazine that said you could make the game as casual or hardcore as you wanted, but that remains to be seen. I haven't heard any news about MLB 07: The Show coming to the Wii, so I'm not sure if that will be happening. One of the things I noticed while playing baseball on Wii Sports is that you can't check your swing. So that would take away some of the realism while playing a game like MLB 07: The Show, rather than an arcade type game like The Bigs.

Yeah, I noticed the checking your swing also. Only thing I could think of is maybe somehow implement a button press into checking, or releasing of a button.

Ok, I've seen several people in a few different places talking about MLB 07: The Show coming to either Wii or 360. I hate to break it to ya guys, but the game is MADE by Sony. That's a PS3/PS2/PSP exclusive. Unless Nintendo revives "Pennant Chase" or Microsoft brings back "High Heat", the ONLY chance for an MLB game on Wii or 360 is through 2K Sports. MLB 2K7 comes out for 360 on March 5th, but I've heard no plans (nor do I expect to) about it coming to Wii. 2K's arcade title "The Bigs" is supposed to be out in late summer from what I've read and should be on both Wii and 360.

Yeah. I guess I got MLB 07: The Show confused with Major League Baseball 2K7.

Well, in this thread only 1 person said MLB 07 The Show. It was fairly obvious he made a mistake and meant 2k7

Well whatever baseball games do come out for the Wii, I hope theirs options for the ways you can pitch. It might sound kind of lame, but I would prefer to press buttons to pitch, then actually have to "throw" them myself. I got really sick of that quickly on Wii Sports. I enjoyed batting, but pitching was a complete drag.

Christ you kids are fucking morons! Fine, I'll play English teacher. Today's lesson: comprehension. In the following sentence: "I've seen several people in a few different places talking about MLB 07: The Show coming to Wii or 360.", the phrase "several people in a few different places" indicates that this kind of comment has been made outside of this thread, possibly even on other websites (Gamespot is just one I can remember).

Also, schuerm26, how the fuck was it obvious he meant MLB 2K7? Those are two completely different games. You can't just assume that he didn't know what he was talking about. I figured it was just an honest mistake and the guy didn't know.

I'd love to see MVP 07 or 08 get released on the Wii. With the jump to analog controls for pitching, swinging, and fielding, it seems like a no-brainer to upgrade to the Wii for more intuitive controls.

Okay, it was a simple mistake on my part, so I apologize for that. So let's try to get back on topic about baseball games on the Wii.

Yeah same here. Im really wondering why EA didn't do a quick port of MVP. It worked fine for Madden.

They're taking it easy with Wii games right now. They have a few set for the Spring, so their Wii studio has been busy.

I haven't played MVP since the last MLB game was released for it, but I'd love to see it on the Wii. By the way, when does the exclusive rights for MLB games expire? It would be great to see an MLB MVP game on the Wii sometime in the near future.

I'll gladly get back on topic. I think the exclusive licenses are the dumbest things to ever happen. As a few other people I've talked to have pointed out, there's not even a baseball game for PC anymore. I was actually a fan of the 2K series even before the exclusive license, but there's nothing wrong with competition.

And I'm still longing for another 2K football game. ESPN NFL 2K5 was so close to the most perfect sports game ever. It played amazingly, had great integration with ESPN...even having a CG Chris Berman and Sportscenter weekly wrap-up. EA seems to hardly even make use of the ESPN deal...not like that anyway. Really, the best thing we could hope for from here on out is crappy Maddens and crappy MLB 2Ks. If that happened, both leagues would be reluctant to sign an exclusive deal again. We would just suffer in the meantime (not that we haven't been already).

It's supposed to last another five years or so, probably too long for a proper MVP MLB game to appear on the Wii.

Actually, the pitching on Wii Sports is one of the few Wii Sports activities that I've figured out how to do without actually copying the exact motion (though I would imagine it would be pretty easy with tennis too). I wish I could figure it out for hitting - would put WAY less stress on my elbows ;).

For pitching I sit down (after standing for hitting), press the appropriate button (curveball, screwball, fastball, splitter) and just push the remote towards whatever corner I choose to paint. It works quite well and is a nice cross between actually "throwing" (which would get tedious) and just simple old-style button presses (which is boring).

I hadn't heard about the "arcadey" baseball game coming out for the Wii. That sounds good to me - I'm not really interested in a realistic sim.
