Ok just for the heck i went to best buy to see if they would price match some of the CC games and they did. I just told her CC had them for $5 and she didn't even call them, she just adjusted the prices.
Funny thing is almost every game that CC had for $4.99 wasn't on best buy's shelf.
These are the games i pick up at BB for $4.99.

Most of the stuff in CC's sale was also in BB's sale not too long ago. That's probably why they didn't have any of the games on the list. Sucks, but hey, you did get them to a do an insane PM without a call! Bravo!

Actually this is a HUGE deal for me & anyone who can get it to work. Thing is i didn'g have a updated $4.99 list so i past on alot of game BB had.
I remember seeing a whole stack of viewtiful joe & dynasty warriors 4.

They don't even ask you for an ad? I have to bring in an ad to pricematch anything.

if that worked with a call or ad, I am suprised you didn't try and grab titles that weren't on clearance at CC.

where do you guys get the list of games that are 4.99 at CC so you can pricematch
JAMMR
07-04-2004, 10:25 PM
N777 - The list is at the front of the "Official?..." thread.
Also, I recant my previous post... this will be a good deal because if CCs are pulling inventory that means titles will most likely still be in stock All week, meaning they can call and you will still get the deal... Now for the whole calling thing - I've been to BBs that have said they need an ad, so it really is a YMMV.

I was going to try a price match with my reciept but like you said they didn't have any of the games that CC did it was kinda surreal lol
You should try to get them to do the 110% then you'll end up with the game for about 50 cents

On the CC website it shows some games as $4.99 so if you show them the games that are on the CC website maybe they will PM them. Just an idea.
yeahokthenfu
07-05-2004, 03:35 AM
So has anyone confirmed this deal yet??
Also, another side note, I called CC.com's circuit city customer service and the guy said you can get online and then take the receipt to the store and theyll give you the difference its a shame that none of the games I want are on there anymore. If you do decide to do this you might want to call and make sure theyll do this and how you actually go about doing this, since all workers have a different idea about store policy.

i always thought your mileage may vary means that to get the deal you may have to drive to that particular store that is pricematching without an ad or a call.
My bb will only pm if i bring in the print ad, they REFUSE to call another store, even if there are 10 cust service reps not helping anyone.

The Best Buy clerk is giving you a load of BULL. Since this $4.99 price drop is permanent, the Best Buy clerk is obligated to a pricematch, even if it involves calling the nearest Circuit City and asking them the price of that game on their database.
CharAznable
07-05-2004, 09:03 PM
The only ways the BB nearest to me will Price-Match Circuit City:
1. An Ad
2. A Reciept
They won't call a nearby store and ask, and a picture of a reciept won't work.

Best Buy doesn't give me 110 percent when I PM hobbit, but CC does. The games that you're looking for are most likely out of stock anyway. Even if you argue with them, they can still call and ask if those games are in stock or not.

Ditto, the bb clecks always give me some double talk, they will say they cant call the store, but then they say that to get the game at that price the game MUST be in stock at that price at another local store. I tried to reason with them but whoever said that most of these games will not be in stock anyways was right, most of these got clearanced out at the $5 bb sale

Best Buy let me pricematch a DOA: BV and a SWAT. I had the original receipt from my CC purchase. There was a manager that had to come in since the price was so low. They also asked me questions about the deal and photcopied my receipt I showed them (my guess is to pull their games off the shelf). Anyway I feel kind of bad now, since I told them the deal ended 7/11 and I just found out this deal hasn't even officially started and really ends on 7/18. I'm all up for great deals, but you shouldn't have to lie. :(

Can someone help me out with the specifics? How exactly do I get BB to price match? I have reciepts from CC with a few games I want on them that I'm pretty sure BB has. I'm 100% sure the CC I bought them at is sold out though, does that make a difference? Do I just get the games at BB take them up with my reciept and tell them to pricematch? Or do I have to buy them at full price at BB then take them back for an adjustment? Please let me know how to do this, thanks.

07-06-2004, 05:59 PM
Yeah, same question as Jimbodan, but how does it work with an add. All the CC's I went to today said there would be an add in the Sunday paper. So if I just bring that to Best Buy on Sunday, what are the chances I can pick up a game at best buy with the CC ad? How often will they go to the extent to call Circuit City.

For those of you who aren't sure about how to do the Best Buy Pricematch read this:
Goto Best Buy and bring your receipt from CC. Pick up the games you want, any of the games on the receipt that you have. When you goto the cashier let them scan in the games and after the total comes up show them the receipt and tell them you want to price match the games. They'll let you do it, but they will most likely call down a manager to approve it. Then tada you have $5 games, great for trading.
I did it today and picked up some Sword of Mana's for trading purposes (yes CC DID have $4.99 SoMs but that was for a very short time). Instead of charging me $4.99 they charged me $2.99 for some odd reason, which was even better!
If your local Best Buy is out of games you can also pricematch at Walmart and at some Targets.
Maybe we should set up another post for receipt trading.

They charged you $2.99 for Sword of Mana because their pricematch policy 100% plus the 10% difference. So you can actually get games for like under $2 for the full $50 games. Crazy, ain't it?

problem is if the best buy cashier/manager is smart, they are only supposed to price match LOCAL competitor's prices. which means if you bring a CC receipt from texas to pricematch in Florida, they shouldn't do it.

Now if I'm right about the Circuit City higher ups being greedy corporate pigs, I think that in their Sunday ad they will list most of the higher profile games like your Viewtiful Joes and Medal of Honors and Lord of the Rings. If they do this, Best Buy and other stores that price match will definitely take a hit as policy is policy. Let's face it, since the sale info was leaked out ealry, they've sold out most of their games and the purpose of the ad is probably to just attract regular ass gamers to their stores in order to get rid of the rest of the Havens. I'm positive Circuit City will of course have "titles may vary" printed in size one font on the bottom of the ad but here's hoping Circuit City hates competition enough to name some of the better games in their ads. My Best Buy is fully stocked and ready for price matching.

except you forget that these ads are printed weeks in advance. So the purpose of the ad is still the same, to draw EVERYONE into the sale. The sale was leaked only a week in advance so there really is nothing CC corporate can do about it.

There is no need to be an ass. I was agreeing with you.
Further, given the general terms of most companies for price matching, IE the store they are price matching has to be within a certain gepgraphic distance from where they are located I simply doubt this will work, and as such makes no sense to me.

I went to Best Buy today to Price Match a PS2 game: Spongebob Squarepants: Battle Bikini Bottom. It rang up $39.99 and I showed them my circuit city receipt that says it's $4.99. The clerk had to call the manager and even then the manager said NO, because:
1. The price difference is $35, which is huge
2. Your Circuit City receipt is a reprint of the customer copy, not the original receipt.
I was a little upset, so I asked the manager if she will honor other games (Wheel of Fortune and Max Payne) which had less price difference AND I have the original receipt for them.
She was thinking for a while looking for excuses not to honor the price match, but eventually gave up. So, I got Wheel of Fortune and Max Payne (GBA) for $4.99 each -- not 110% price guarantee.

my bb will not pm a receipt, only a print ad, i am hoping the weekly ad that says "4.99 gmaes" combined with a receipt will be enough, but i dunno.
I'm not sure about this but I don't think Best Buy and most other retail stores will PM an item that is on Cleareance. If that's true then the ad may not do much unless the key word is overlooked.

consider yourself lucky enough to get them down 15 dollars.
as for the spongebob, why not try to go to CC and ask someone to make a new receipt. Say something like my cousin sent me this game and forgot to send the receipt but he gave me the receipt number, could you print me one please? It's worth a shot.

The printed reciept can work. I tried it with one of the reciepts here and I ended up pricematching Mega Man X7 for $5. You only need a copy of the reciept and if they don't believe you tell them to call the store number from where the reciept was printed from.

Yeah, and good luck getting CC's crappy add price matched anywhere, it's just a stupid little bubble that says $4.99 video games. Not any pics or list, also at least at my CC theres a sign in the bin of $4.99 sports games, since they haven't had any of the listed games from last Saturday thru today :( that says Titles May Vary. Just wait til next Sunday when they all magically have multiples of these games we're looking for.

Wow, calling us assholes now. This should be grounds for a ban. And you can't really forsee anyone getting fired just because of a pricematch? The Best Buy in Savanah has to have the SADDEST GC section I've ever seen... (and BB's are notoriously understocked when it comes to GC games in my experience)... they had perhaps a dozen titles, nothing that wasn't a blockbuster, PC or a first party game... with the noted exception of the crap that is Road Trip... So I didn't even get the chance to PM anything I bought since they don't carry it!

A. I'm only calling out the "Lame Assholes"....are you one? You maybe.
B. If this is grounds for a ban, than that is just sad.
C. People do get fired for people like you praying on the new employee thinking maybe he doesnt know the rules well enough. Seen it happen before. Price matching as much as you probably do....you would know that Pricematching Clearanced items is against company policy. Pricematching is great...but dont let it get out of hand cause you want to screw some guy out of a job or get banned from a store because your too greedy. It was a great deal at Circuit City, but its pretty much over now...let it go.
D. Not to mention major stores only price match when the other store has it in stock...so in that case just go to the other store.
E. I never told anyone not to pricematch, you're putting words in my mouth...I just think its pretty lame that this thread was started to screw the system. It's cool when your screwing big corprate types Im sure....but the middleman always gets screwed as well.
F. As far as the coupons go...thats free game. It's not against company policy...

Yes, I paid $10 more, as MK:DD was marked @ $50, and yes, I guess that makes me a thief. Oh well, that's what I did.

The places usually always ask for ID if you don't have a receipt. My friend tried to exchange La Pucelle Tactics (he bought it for $20 at Target) for credit at Wal-Mart but he said it came up as "not found" and they wouldn't accept it. Despite the fact they have it online. I couldn't help but chuckle a little, but I'd never seen that happen.....

I tried to PM Mario Party 4 at BB today with no luck. I got up to the counter and the guy seemed like he would do it. Then he scanned the game and noticed there was a $45 price difference. The look on his face was great. Of course he then called CC, checked on the stock, and they were out. No PM. Are Walmart and TRU more flexible when it comes to PMing? I might try them just for fun.

The WalMarts I've dealt with have always been more flexible with pricematching. I don't think they've called once to check on stock. You could always go to a SuperCenter at night once CC closes though to make sure :) (or just a walmart open later than your CC). I checked both in town, but no Disgaea to be found. I don't think there's a copy in the whole damn town. And I don't think there was before the CC clearance, either.

I went to Walmart today and had some luck. They didn't have much of a selection of CC games on my reciepts. They did have Beach Spikers for $50. Lol. They also had Def Jam Vendetta for $20. So I went with that one. They didn't have Mario Party 4, which I had tried already at BB. I would suggest not trying to PM $50 games. It's tough to get the employees to do it. Anyways, I went up to check out with DJV, and I ended up going through two cashiers, a manager, and a customer service person before I finally got the price override. I finally got it to work somewhere. Good luck to everyone else.
