Does anyone know why online retailers aren't allowing you to purchase the wii even if it isn't in stock? Usually you're allowed to order even if not in stock, and they'll fill your order in the order in which it was received..

Does it make sense to not allow this? If they did, they would lock in a sale from a customer, and the customer would not have to check every freaking day for availability for a hot item..

well everyone would do it at every online retailer. so is there actually any benefit? isn't it better knowning when u order one u'll get one? rather be on an infinite waiting list?

plus the hassel of people canceling orders when they get their wii's from other places. plus you wouldnt' have to deal with customers complaining about having to wait so long.

If you go to www.Techbargains.com there is a find a Wii link that you can keep on your desktop. It polls a number of sites and will alert you when one is in stock.
