yeah if I didnt have one already, I would order from amazon. Reliable and saves you about $40-$50 in taxes and free shipping on top of that. Deal to me.

I don't see any reason why anyone should be ripped apart for posting a deal. Unless it's a fake deal which this is not.

Though we may be slightly segmented in the war of the consoles, we each are brothers (and sisters) in trying to find the best fucking deal.

Thanks for posting this OP. I'm tempted to buy a PS3 after coming upon some birthday money, but I think I'll hold off until I get my tax return (at the very least).

It seems to be selling pretty well right now. I wonder how long they'll be in stock.

Tempted, but must wait till there is more than just Resistance.

Several hours so far. Goes to show how much more demand there is for Wiis than PS3s.

Damn just got one the other day. I would have jumped on this deal. It would of saved me around $42 tax.

If you value the opinion of the president of SCEA and you want a PS3 then you had better jump on this one because this is as good a deal as you're going to get for a long time.

Damn! Free shipping AND no tax? This deal arrived just in time. Thanks OP.

what about warranty though? I mean- what's Sony's standard warranty for the ps3? 1 year?

Come visit Oregon and go to any Target - you'll get the same deal ;). I was at 4 Targets tonight and all were well stocked with PS3's. Still, if you live in a sales tax state this isn't a bad deal I suppose.

Ditto for those of us in tax-free NH :D. Thanx anyway to OP, for posting for those in less tax-privileged states.

STILL no 20GBs. Those things are incredibly rare.

I wonder if it's because they're selling a lot better, or because Sony's making fewer to lose less on the PS3, or both?

This deal is especially nice for those with an Amazon CC as it gets you close to another $25 gift certificate.

Just because Amazon doesn't collect the sales tax for your state doesn't mean you aren't liable for it.

That is technically true, although I think VERY few people actually go to the trouble of declaring purchases like this on their taxes, and the chances of getting into trouble are miniscule.

Yay, i can't wait PS3 drop down $400. I seen PS3 at every stores i go, but WII is another stories .. very hard to see on the floor. My buddy work at BB & they have 25 wii's instock and it sold out less than 5 mins (It's Impossible to belived but it's true).

this is a good deal. if you have to have one right now. but what are you going to play on it? nba?
I forsee this system being pretty darn cheap soon and then 360 will drop to crush sony and We all will win.
I literally have seen about 10 ps3s in stores since november and o wii's actually on the shelf since then.
it's crazy.

At least, that's how it's priced. What the heck, I bought one with a copy of Resistance. I'm an Amazon Prime member, so I get free 2-Day shipping. $654.98 for a PS3+Resistance to my door in two days? FINE.

Damn you CAG, damn you and your awesomeness.

To people surprised it's still in stock, hasn't Amazon had it out of stock for the past month? In that time, I'd imagine they've accumulated a lot of PS3 shipments in their wherehouse and were waiting to reach a high enough stock before they put it online. Hopefully, these remain in stock for a while as they continue to get new shipments as these sell out.

Now here's hoping the Wii gets in stock at Amazon soon. Don't wanna pay tax if I don't have to.

Thanks OP. Hopefully, they''l have these in stock when I get my tax return.

I've been having a pretty hard time finding PS3s where I live for some reason. Been sold out for about two weeks at Target, Circuit City, and TRU. I'm sure if I really search then maybe I can find some but I don't really consider them readily available like the 360 yet.

Great deal though if you want a PS3 right now.

can amazon sell this for 100 like they did with the core 360s? :) then i would probably get one

I'd rather pay the $30 tax here and buy locally.

#1 - easy to return

#2 - my credit card has 60 day price protection (online purchases do not qualify for the price protection with my Citi card), doubles the warranty to 2 years, and provides 90 day accidental/theft loss coverage.

I want a 20gb system. It's in stock, but I won't be buying it right now.. that would be horrible of me after buying a 360 w/ hd-dvd player, building a computer, dental work, and other stuff all in the past two months. I've spent around $1,500 in that span..

grimlock49
01-30-2007, 02:33 PM
wow...still in stock...If it was Wii, would've been gone in five minutes max probably!

CA sales tax is 8.something % its harsh.. $50+ this actually is a deal... but not a lot of PS3 games I want to buy right now and backwards compat is still "blurred up" despite the line doubling fix..

tayaf69
01-30-2007, 03:41 PM
There are plenty of opportunities to save tax from the console (*cough* Target or CC). This is not really a deal regardless of what people think. I will wait for a $200-$300 price drop anyways.

chpscot
01-30-2007, 10:47 PM
Sold out. They had 20gb units for about an hour and a half today earlier too. LOL @ $200-300 price drop. That might happen around the time the PS5 is released.

sonicbooom
01-30-2007, 11:57 PM
Yeah, I don't know about a $200-$300 price drop anytime at all. $50 or $100 in the next year or so will happen, and that's probably when I'll buy mine.

No games I want right now. I'll buy the 20gb PS3 once Final Fantasy XII and Metal Gear Solid 4 are out. I'm sure there will be modifications figured out by then also..

I figure $449.99 (with the $150 credit from the Sony Card) is low enough for me. Plus, no tax with my state, so it's straight $449.99 for me. Got one.

I kinda wonder if Sony is actually testing the (price) waters by offering these ridiculous credits with their credit card. I mean, is this something they offer regularly?

ppl sell them for like 550 on craigslist.com fyi.
