I noticed you really messed up on the hatch of the day. Most people
were unable to even connect to your server before your item sold out.
Out of at least 20 people I know who attempted to purchase your Hatch
item, the Nintendo Wii, none of them were able to place an order in time.
Instead, they were faced with riddiculous loading times, "server is too busy"
errors, HTTP 403.1 errors, a suppossed "site upgrade", and unnecessary
stress and dissapointment.

Overall it did not create confidence in your site, or a pleasent
purchasing experience.

This isn't the first time this has happened to an online merchant. On
Thanksgiving day Amazon.com sold Xbox 360's for $100 ($200 off
retail). After seeing the overwhelming demand, bogging down of
servers, and the near crashing of their site, Amazon.com implemented a
new system for their "Customer Choice Deal of the Week". Rather than having
a mad rush on the servers, Amazon allowed their users to sign up for
the deal ahead of time, then they randomly selected the number of
people who could buy the item at the advertised price, and notified them through the site.

I suggest that, for your next Wii hatch (which your site says is
coming within 5 days), you randomly select however many users that
have stock to cover, who sign up ahead of time for the deal, and notify them that they have
been selected to purchase the Wii at the advertised price.
