Well, cheap PS3s seem to be popping up on craigslist a lot these days and I'm strongly considering one. This is hilarious...I feel very bad for whoever bought one for $3000 in November.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if Sony plans to up their production a lot in the coming months (which would hopefully drive the prices even lower.)

Also, the PS3 has a 1-year warranty, right?

If I remember the console is 1yr and accessories is 3 months. I don't know if they meant as accessories that came w/the console or both (official items...controller, remote, etc..)

It's pretty scam proof. Don't have to worry about murderers and sketch-balls here too much and if it breaks, the warranty covers it.
The $350 ones are obviously gone by now, but the $400 ones remain...

I'm still waiting cause I have a PS2 warranty for $150 I can cash in towards a new one. Just going to bust that out once there are some games I want (in reality, I'll probably cave and get one with Ninja Gaiden Sigma as soon as that's out)

Remember, that warranty is useless without a proof of purchase. Try to get a copy of the receipt or something.

That is not 100% true, I bought a used one and had to send it in for repair. They ask you if you have the proof of purchase, I just told them it was a gift. Btw, for whoever asked earlier the warranty is 1 year and when I get mine back the warranty on the replacement will be 1 year from the day I recieve the new one.

Many of the ones that are going for under MSRP has to be people that bought it at launch and are pasts the return date on the receipts. Now they are desperate to sell it even it they lose $60 on it. Can't say that I feel sorry for them.

True. I've seen a couple where people just come out and state that. They're like bought it at launch but forgot to return it within the receipt date and just trying to get what I paid.

In San Francisco I've seen some a couple see under retail. There was a nice deal for 60gb, extra controller, and resistance for $600.

well, I hesitated and missed out on the cheap ones that were up. one guy literally had his up for almost a month. when I finally decided to get it, he had sold it a few hours earlier.

That's alright, CAG's own Dpatel gave me a pretty generous deal and sold me a 20gb new and sealed for less than retail shipped.

yeah, there are no games for it right now...but the future is bright. Enough great games are coming out this year to warrant the purchase for me.
