From the man who brought us Elebits, we have Dewy's Adventure. Trailer, screenshots, interview at the link.

The game certainly looks pretty darn good. Gameplay looks like a standard platformer, though I'm sure that the controls will be something interesting.

Original IPs, the reason why Wii will rock.

I saw the thread title and for a quick second thought it said Denny's Adventure.

From the video the game looks kinda "meh" at the moment, but that could change with time.

Is this that elusive "Action Game #2"?

Is this that elusive "Action Game #2"?Most likely.

What, no excitement over the buzz word being thrown around in the interview? Bump mapping on the Wii!

I think this looks really cool. I love the animatic style (reminiscient of Elebits without the Precious Moments characters) and the game itself looks pretty. Hard to tell what it will be like to play, but I agree with the early assessment that it falls into that Monkey Ball/Korinpa category of "move the world, not the character."

E3 playtest report. Casamassina gives it a thumbs up.

Incidentally, in case you missed it, there's a cool psychadelic Dewy's Adventure poster in this month's Nintendo Power (with a Contra 4 poster on the flip side....tough call).

No way, the Wii can do bump mapping? Whoa, eat my dust PS3. We gots bloom in Metroid 3 and bump mapping in Dewey's adventure! Wii graphics just revolutionized the industry.

On a serious note, I'm 50% sold on this. 25% to go until I buy it. MarioColbert's percentage system is so hard, not even a PS3 processor could run it. But you could slap the shit out of it with a Wii-mote.

The official site is pretty cool. You can play with the temp bar on the side. The music is odd because of the lyrics but fitting nonetheless.

September 4th.. I think I'll have to bite. I liked that Elebits had a relatively short playthrough time and something like this would compliment Metroid nicely.

I have this preordered at GS already with the trade 2 deal a few weeks back. If the reviews come out positive (80+ range) I'll definitely stick with it. Otherwise I may wait on it a bit. I've got too much other stuff to play anyway. I'll be well immersed in Metroid at the time, and, probably, Blue Dragon on the 360. This looks like one the kids will enjoy as well though, so that's always a positive.

Ha, just realized that's the Halo date. So Konami sent this out to die in Japan the same day Mario Party and Hot Shots Golf released, and now they move it to Halo day in the US. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how you put together a self-fulfilling prophecy about poor games sales on a Nintendo platform.

Impressions from neogaf user who has played through the entire game:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=175637#post7232209

I'm playing it.

In fact, I've reached the final boss, but I'm not sure I can be bothered trying Story mode again, because it's the most ludicrous difficulty spike right at the end.

Otherwise, it's great - super level design, lovely graphics, and it's utterly charming. It's a real shame the last boss ruins it, as up to there it'd been great. I didn't even mind the boss rush because you got to recharge your energy inbetween. But there's nothing worse than a final boss that you take ages to defeat, and only then realise he has a second form, and you've virtually no life left to take him on with. And the first form takes about ten minutes to beat as it is, even when you know what you're doing.

I'm going to have a go of multiplayer and the level creator later on, both of which look interesting to say the least.

Still no shipping email, but in my account at Gamestop.com my order now says shipped as opposed to processing, so I'm assuming it did ship.

Since it's with a plush I'm thinking it may go UPS or at least better than Media Mail. So I should have it by Monday. Can't wait! So excited, since I didn't expect this to ship for at least a week.

Yeah, same here (except I do have a Wii backlog - just don't want more of one). I really wish Nintendo stuck with the earlier release for Battalion Wars. I'm looking at the end of October and I see 3-4 games I want day one. Battalion Wars would have given me something to play through October until all those others come out. Now it is likely to get buried. And then a few more come not long after in November (like, oh, Mario Galaxy). Not good...

All with 10/30 or 10/31 release dates: Simpsons, Beautiful Katamari (though EB says 10/15 which would be nice if true), Battalion Wars 2, and Viva Pinata Party Animals. I thought there were more - maybe I'm not seeing them all. I have high hopes for the Simpsons game, anyway. Jury is way out on the Viva Pinata Mario Party clone. The kids might like it though. Anyway, my point is Dewy will get lost in the shuffle, though I could get it and play it ASAP (though I'm spending all my time on Blue Dragon now).

You should be able to breeze through the main story mode in about 10 hours. There is greater replayability if you decide to save all of the other guys and mess with the level creation and multiplayer. Looks like it would be a good rental, but I hope people buy this game (it is tanking in Japan) and support new IP on the Wii.

I'm going to try to get my in-laws to buy it. They have mooched my Zelda and SPM purchases so it is time for them to repay the favor ;)

It just looks kind of Meh to me. And I have a strict policy of only buying the blockbuster AAA games (or at least what I consider to be AAA games).

Not much time for gaming these days, so I try to just play the cream of the crop and not waste time and money on B or lower titles.

If it was getting stellar reviews I definitely would have kept it. But $50 for a "sixer" just ain't gonna cut it. I already bought Elebits at full price (and enjoyed it, though perhaps it wasn't worth the $50) so I've done my bit to support Konami's Wii efforts. Should they put out an EXCELLENT game I'll be sure to buy it.

I rented it tonight. It is OK so far (just through one world). I find the control frustrating though - in particular trying to jump on the little bumpers to get up to high places. The graphics are average. Yet the game is fun. My kids had fun with the level creator and the multiplayer, actually. I'm definitely glad I returned my preordered copy and rented it (for free). It's good enough that I'll likely put in the time before Friday to finish it. Hopefully that unlocks more of the level creation items (most are locked now) and my kids can have some more fun with that part. If they continue to enjoy that then I'll pick it up again later when I can find it for less than $20.

I played through 3 worlds (I.E. longer than 30 minutes ) and I think it's a great game. Yeah, I played it for 3-4 hours, but just didn't feel like putting in any more to beat it before I had to return the rental. I'll definitely pick it up when it's cheap though. My kids loved the level creation aspect of it. The game itself is good but not great. I liked Elebits much more as it is definitely a more solid use of the Wii controls. By the way, try not to be offput by the style of the game... I'm 21, with no kids, and I think the style of this & elebits is adorable and imaginative. This is seriously one of the better wii games and it's worth checking out AT LEAST, so sad to see it getting such little press.

Well, I don't know what to tell YOU, but I thought Elebits was excellent (minus the crippling framerate issues at times), but Dewy was just OK. It all comes down to the control for me. Tilty Wiimote control is just not something I enjoy. I've heard it is implemented fairly well in Kororpina and Mercury. I have the latter coming from the Buy.com GCO deal, so I'll see how it works there soon enough. I think Dewy's a solid game, just not worth $50. I strongly disagree. If I had only played Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime 3 for 30 minutes, I would have had a very poor understanding of how the bulk of the game plays. The majority of games start you off with over-simplified gameplay to ease you in. After only 30 minutes of play, I doubt you'd be much past that training period.
