Though this is early, I'm posting this since it'll eventually show up on youtube/joystiq/kotaku/whatever.
Serena (I think) Williams was a guest on Conan's Late Night show and he wanted to play tennis against her. (Un)Fortunately the sound stage was a bit too small, so they battled it out on Wii Tennis.
Amazingly, or not so, Conan defeats Serena.
:)
UPDATE:
02/03/07
wow.... tonights conan show notified people that during the Wii match, Serena lost a $75,000 earing that she was wearing and had it on loan... damn

grammatical errors fixed, and for those that said conan's outfit is silly, you should have seen him strip his clothes off for this thing
and yes, Conan is miles ahead of Leno and every other late night, I'm just scared NBC will force him to conform once he gets the 11:35 slot.

You guys who're dissing Carson Daly probably don't even know the half of it. I've actually attended tapings of his shows --solely for the music performances-- and the man appears to have even less comedic talent in person. I don't think Carson is a douche or anything like that, but he clearly shouldn't be a talk show host. Every laugh you hear on the show is completely forced. Everytime it's the hype men who start the laughing and clapping as they furiously motion to the crowd to join in. I know that every show has an APPLAUSE sign to coerce audiences but I've never seen such listless responses anywhere else.

To further comment on carson, my friend got paid money to go see his show. its that sad. They need to put that guy out of his misery.
Just saw this clip on conan and i think its funny how serena grunted like she does when she plays real tennis and of course conan tearing away his pants.

I think their mainstreamitizing is working, at least with wii sports and their controls. People wouldn't be playing an xbox or playstation on mainstream TV since it wouldn't be very entertaining to watch, aside from the complication of controls.
The only problem is that the people that buy it because of its more mainstream appeal may not buy too many games later, but Nintendo has that covered with the fact that they actually make profits on the system. Hopefully the third parties will see that the system is selling well and (even though the mainstream may not buy too many other games) they'll make more games for the system and the people that will buy more games actually have the chance to get more third party ones.
Haha , That was awesome thanks for sharing.

Let's not forget that Nintendo will specifically target some of these gamers. Think the Touch Generation games on the DS. So the purchases may not overlap much, but if Nintendo is successful, they will make sales.

Companies do pay for spots like these all the time, but I'm actually guessing that Conan's writers approached Nintendo first for this one. I'm sure it was all comped at the very least, though.

Serena underestimated the Wii. You'd figure a tennis player would know that when the ball is approaching your left side, a backhand is appropriate.
And, yes, Conan is by far the best late night talk show host today. Letterman is also great but he occasionally has his "Carson" moments where it sounds like the crowd is applauding because they are told to. Leno is good but gets a little repetitive. How many times have I heard him say "How fat are Americans getting when...?" Ferguson is a funny guy but he is doomed since he comes out at the same time as Conan. And Carson is just a no-talent loser. I only saw his show one time but those previews they show during Conan commercials are pathetic.

That much is true, at least for the television broadcasts where you can tune in just as the performances start.
Just don't attend an actual show taping. The hour and a half you spend before the musical guest comes out will sap you of all enthusiasm.
Funnily enough, I think that Leno --who films right across the NBC lot from Carson-- is just the opposite: he doesn't come across as all that funny to me on television but he's quite good in person.

How can she lose an ear ring ?
The show is shot in HD right ?
And they must have had a camera on her at all times she was on. They should be able to look at the HD footage and see at what point in time the ear ring is lost.
EDIT:
On the youtube video at about -2:13 it looks like something falls on her right side and tries to grab it.
Come on, I can spot it in a shitty Youtube clip the NBC staff must be able to see it in the HD footage they have recorded.

Ok I read through almost 4 pages of this topic and no one has brought up the issues. First off you are supposed to use simple motions with the Wii which they clearly were not doing, and they were not wearing their wrist straps, now that Conan is too cool for the wrist strap, people might get the wrong idea, lol...
Although good stuff, Conan is the man.

I'm pretty sure that was all a set-up for the joke. The camera kept going to Max when he was saying "What kind of sleazeball would steal this earring?"
Plus Conan's floor is flat and plain so let's all stop looking for Serena's earring and get back to playing Wii!

I dont get it, so did she lose the earing or not?
In the video at one point, it does seem like she is feeling her ear as if she dropped something. And for those that are saying she's bad, real tennis movements dont exactly translate to Wii movements. It's safe to say you can play Wii Tennis and get good at it in one hour, but in one hour nobody will be playing the French Open with skill.
