Alrighty CAGs, I have a question: I'm interested in picking up a PS3. I have the means wherewithal, I simply am dragging my feet. My main hesitant is that there aren't any games coming out for a while that I'd like to buy. However, I would like to utilize the $100 trade for my PS2. Hell, with that, and the scratch I'd get on eBay for the Sony hard drive that's in it, I have around $130 for it. Not really a bad deal, and Sony doesn't have a financial reason to back down on price for at least twelve more months. I'd say I'd get it used, but I have no desire for that, and I don't care if it's first gen hardware.

I'm looking to get reasons to buy/not to buy, that I might have overlooked. Please no fanboy responses- I already have a 360, and no need for a Wii as yet. I have the PSP, DS, all that jazz. Hell, I probably use this mostly to upscale PS2 games on me television more than anything else. And the Blue-ray (forgot about that).

Well, if you have a 360 at the moment, I honestly don't see a reason to get the PS3 anytime soon. The PS3 does have a somewhat decent line up, but a lot of those games are on the 360. Then again, with that deal, it may be worth it to pick one up, seeing as how I don't forsee a price drop in the near future either.

I would say go for it mainly for that deal that GS has going. Although, I don't imagine you will be gaming too much on it until Fall of this year.

The deal will no longer be available in fall 2007, and I don't forsee a price drop then.

I'm anticipating my desire for it this holiday season in an effort to purchase it while I have a good deal. You're right, though; in the short term I am only capitalizing on the short term gain. If I had plans to buy it either way though, wouldn't that merit a reason to purchase one now while I can save rather than later - when I have a strong want for the system - without the savings?

Maybe I'm answering myself here...

Yeah, I think you did. If your going to buy one anyways, why not take advantage of the free 100$?
