Usually in the business of banning games, these details posted on USK suggest that Rare's side-on shooter Jetpac is scheduled for a Marketplace debut. (http://www.usk.de/64_Pruefdatenbank.htm?s=search&title=jetpac+refuelled&s.x=33&s.y=12)

Entitled Jetpac Refuelled, this could well be a sequel to the popular original, a cult classic that made its name on the ZX Spectrum way back in 1983. The gameplay itself was simple; using your Hydrovac Jetpac you must collect 6 fuel rods to enable your movement to the next area, whilst simultaneously repelling any unwanted alien presence and looting the colourful 2D levels for precious items. And in taking this simple premise and loading it with the HD polish we have all come to expect, Rare may well have the recipe for download necessity!

So are they about to dip into their back catalogue for some nostalgia tinged re-imaging?

Wow, that one guy wasn't kidding when he said they were dipping way into their back catalogue.

I would have personally liked to have seen a remake/sequel to Blast Corps. I think that game would have been perfect for the XBLA. I wonder if Rare or Nintendo owns the IP.

I think Rare would own Blast Corps IP. I think Rare owns all the IP's that aren't from Nintendo properties (like DK, etc)

You are thinking of a different game. There is only one Blast Corps and it's for the N64 and it is a highly underrated and entertaining game. Especially once you get the A-Team van.

Yes. Blast Corps. was the Beyond Good & Evil/Psychonauts of the N64-Playstation generation. Praised by all, played by few.

Hell, I'd take a major pay to play model with Blast Corps.

As for Jetpac, I'd like to see some other Rare Old Timey Fun Timey stuff show up in the future. Imhotep would be good for me.

I wonder if Rare got the rights for Battletoads back? Last I recall, it was a dispute with Tradewest or some such nonsense.

Rare also made the Wizards and Warriors series... but same deal, with Acclaim publishing them.

Ugh. That budget Playstation Blaster Master sequel was horrible. I think it actually looked worse than the NES original (and it sure played worse).

I was hoping for a Solar Jetman remake.

So we get this instead of a port of Killer Instinct? Ridiculous.

I have to imagine this is just the first of many games they will start dipping into... it's probably a lot easier to make this then it is to port Killer Instinct.

Microsoft also formally confirmed the Xbox Live Arcade game Jetpac Refuelled from Rare Ltd. The game is a remake of the 1983 shooter Jetpac released on the UK ZX Spectrum computer. The XBLA version will feature enhanced graphics and more than 100 levels. Jetpac Refuelled will be shown off this week at GDC, along with the previously announced Pinball FX, Boom Boom Rocket, 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures, and Eets: Chowdown.

It reminds me of the Bomberman to Bomberman: Act Zero transition, but not quite so shitty.

Looks kind of cool. I was under the impression for some reason that the Rare developed the Killer instict IP, but wasn't it Nintendo's? I could be confusing it with something else, but worth a question.

I wanna see another Jet Force Gemini personally.

Nope. Rare received the majority of their original IPs when they switched over to Camp Microsoft. The obvious Nintendo ones, or even Nintendo inspired ones such as Diddy Kong, were retained by Nintendo.
