I hadn't seen this really mentioned anywhere when I searched, forgive me if it has.

"Band of Bugs" has just been recently announced as an original XBLA title. It's a tactical strategy game made by NinjaBee (Cloning Clyde, Outpost Kaloki X).

The lanscape reminds me a bit of Final Fantasy Tactics.

Anyone remember those short-lived Army Ants figures from, oh, fifteen years or so ago? This kinda reminds me of those, so this looks weirdly appealing to me.

Kind of short and once you beat it you will *never* play it again.

It was fun while it lasted, but it took me about two days to beat 100% and I have never touched it since and I don't ever see myself going back to it - it's not worth 800 points. 400, sure, but not 800.

Were those the ones that you could tear the rubber abdomens off?

That's exactly the type of game it is. But more accessible and simplified.

Yup. That's them. They were blue and ... red? Green?

God, I love all-out insect warfare, especially with all the bizarre defensive capabilities have in real life. If it's even remotely like what I'm imagining, this could be awesome.

I was immediately reminded of Disgaea. That's a good thing if you like the strat-rpgs.

A good portion of the XBLA games priced at 800 points aren't worth it :|

This always leads to an interesting discussion. Like they have been discussing on cag-cast, how much gameplay do you expect for $10?

If cloning clyde lasts 2 hours, that's roughly the same amount of entertainment for less than people are paying for a movie ticket these days. But I guess, most people, seem to expect far more entertainment mileage from games vs other forms of entertainment.

BTW, I have a feeling this is next weeks XBLA title.

The original figures were blue and orange. I'm not sure if they ever expanded to a 'purple' army or whatever, but knowing toymakers... they probably eventually did. First sets were orange vs. blue, though.

Hmmm... Now THIS may be the first game I'll get since Worms if the strategy element is semi-decent...
