Whipsmart Banky should do the avatar. And welcome~you're a brave lass to jump in with the likes of us CAGs....
My question is what are you here to answer again? Questions about Wombat, or yourself? Even Cheapy doesn't have a spokeswoman/mouthpiece doing his PR. Mr. 'bat must be some kind of bigwig to have a "community liason" now... :P

OK.. lets see.. Wombat likes whatever soda, Coke or Pepsi, that I like. We tend to switch it up (hehe).. Wombat does not wear silky underwear.. but I do.. I'm still learning the proper place to post things.. so I didnt realize I should of posted in the off topic forum.. I apologize... and Im here to answer anything the community wants to ask.. to the best of my ability... about me or about the ways of the wombat.. but I will not tell Wombat's real first name.. his real name is his ONE secret I will leave to him to reveal.. and our new couch is a slate blue microfiber one and very comfy.. we fall asleep on it all the time.. and I love the idea of my avatar being the wombat with the pink bow.. really retro.. I love it!! Ok and people.. I am not easily offended or anything.. I have a great sense of humor.. but I'm not an expert on gaming and stuff.. so bare with me.. anyway, hope to hear more from you all soon..

How do you feel about Deconstructivism?
Do you feel the recent mainstream success by Gehry and Liebeskind is a natural progression that started with the rise (and fall) of the Post-Modernism of the New York Five and DeCon pioneers like Eisenman or Zaha Hadid? Do you agree Mies is an awesome name for a son (or a cat?)
Okay, I just made all that stuff up. I do have a son named Mies though.
Welcome aboard (pun intended), and architects UNITE!

Do you ever wake up and find the 'Bat snuggling a new, plastic-smelling (you know what I'm talking about, CAGs!) game console under the covers in his sleep? Yeah, that's all I got.
Now CAG really is becoming a family. If we organized our cheap game hunts, we would be like the mafia.
I heard that the size of a man's signature correlates to the size of his wee-wee. Wombat has a huge fucking sig. Care to comment?

Welcome Mrs. Wombat. A few questions:
How sick of Oblivion are you?
What do you typically do when Wombat is doing the CAGcast? I imagine your apartment in NYC is pretty small (since they all are and everyone I know in the city lives in a 15' x 15' room). Has there ever been a time where you wished Wombat wasn't busy talking out loud in the apartment for an hour?
Does nutrisystem really work? I need to drop 15 and I'm thinking about doing it and I remember Wombat mentioning it on the CAGcast.
What's your favorite restaurant in NYC? I've been to a ton of them (I worked there for 3 years until last November) but when the wifey and I trek in we are always looking for something new.
Could God microwave a burrito so hot, that He himself could not eat it?

Ms Wombat, my question is are you as cheap as Wombat ? Most couples one is cheap and the other is usually a spender. It is a nice balance, so I was wondering how cheap you are compaired to Wombat.
mrswombat
02-11-2007, 05:59 PM
OK..first of all , to novocain, I havent been in architecture school in 8 years..and the real world has caused me to put architectural history as just that ...history... but I can comment to the fact that Mies is a very cool name for your son (or a cat) and that Im thrilled to hear from my fellow architects..
Moving on..Wombat does dream of video games alot.. but snuggling with a console?? maybe when I am away.. he doesnt like to sleep by himself.. but Zelda (our dog)is usually here to keep him company..
Next, has anyone told you men that women really don't care about size?. its about quality not quantity.. ok.. well at least for me thats how it is.. so to comment on Wombat.. well Im still married to him aint I?
I actually dont mind Oblivion really.. although it is starting to get old now.. different characters.. same story and really same missions.. luckily Wombat is pretty bored of it as well..
As for what I do while Wombat is recording the show.. sometimes Ill sit on our couch and listen to him for a little bit.. but usually its my job to take the dog in the other room and keep her entertained (as you've all heard.. I dont do a great job of that.. Zelda loves her daddy!!) Reality is I watch Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars in the other room and let Zelda do whatever she wants..
Nutrisystem does work.. if you stick to it and can get over the fact that the food isnt phenomenal.. what we learned from Nutrisystem was "portion control" which I believe to be the best diet anyone can do..
Fav restaurant in NYC.. ok... fancy wise.. Wombat took me to Del Posto for my 30th birthday and it was "to die for".. yum.. other than that.. really too many to list.. I love steak so any steak place is good.. like Smith and Wollensky, Bull and Bear, etc.. our newest fav place is The York Grill.. cheapwise.. Anything Italian.. Tony De Napoli's.. Lasagna (local mid town east side place in our old neck of the woods), etc..
I think I got all the new questions in there.. if I didnt.. call me on it.. keep them coming CAGers.. and I really would love that avatar!!
mrswombat
02-11-2007, 06:03 PM
OOPs.. just noticed I missed one.. and a good one at that..
No I am not as cheap as Wombat.. in fact I would be the opposite of Wombat.. lets put it this way.. I just got back from a Sunday worth of shopping.. my winnings (ok I didnt win them.. but damn it... I earned it all) were 4 pairs of shoes.. but I did get Wombat his Valentine's Day gift.. so it evens out.. but yes.. I am a big spender.. .. although I do look for good deals.. shop off the sales rack and stuff... but I believe you only live once.. so you might as well enjoy it..

another question what is your favorite console and why?

Have you passed the ARE? Are you LEED certified? What kind os projects does your firm design?
(I'm an architect as well)
mrswombat
02-12-2007, 11:18 AM
Check out my new avatar.. cool huh? I like it..
Anyway, mooching is what makes Wombat.. well Wombat.. but yes it can get annoying.. but sometimes its well worth it.. just to see his eyes light up when he gets something free in the mail.. he doesnt EXPECT it.. he works for it.. he really does.. You all should cut him some slack.. Im sure if you guys could get the free stuff you would try to get it too..
I think Wombat sort of looks up to Cheapy a little.. I mean he seeked him out when he discovered CAG.. but I think its a mutual respect more than anything else now.. They do talk alot, but its sort of like finding that friend that you have so much in common with that its just natural that you talk alot. I do joke with Wombat though that CheapyD is his "mistress".. but Cheapy is just as guilty as Wombat.. They enjoy talkign about video game stuff and playing games together.. but its not in a creepy stalker way..
My favorite console to play is Xbox 360.. I dont like how huge the controller is.. but I like the overall features of it.. I can play co op gmaes with Wombat and I really enjoy the Arcade area on the Xbox Live.. old school though I loved the Gamecube.. cause it was easy to use and play and I love the games on nintendo.
And to usickenme, I am done with my IDP (and have been for years) but I havent decided to take the ARE yet.. My speciality is really more design oriented and I havent decided if I really want to pursue the ARE license.. Instead I may take the NCIDQ.. I also am not LEED certified but may do that in the future. My firm does mostly corporate interiors but we also have a retail studio, base building studio and a broadcast/technology studio that does very well. If any architects out there are in NYC or want to move to NYC and wants a job.. we are hiring!!
Anyway, thanks for making me feel so welcome CAGers!!

Wow! Mrs. Wombat and Mrs. Shipwreck in the same thread? All we need now is Mrs. Cheapy to make her triumphant return. Brave women indeed.
As for Wombat keeping his name a secret... Well... I'm thinking of an adjective (also used as a noun) that is slang for female genitalia... Come on man! How do you expect people to spread the word of "Wombat" without people knowing who you really are? I mean, come on... It's not like your real name is Bruce Wayne. Or is it??? :P
EDIT: Seems I forgot to ask a question. Describe what you believe your husband's state of mind would be if he lived in a country where video games were virtually non-existant. His only exposure to video games would be those that he brought with him. In this scenario, access to the internet is EXTREMELY limited so Xbox Live wouldn't really work well. What do you think would be the long term effects? Do you think he would he adapt to a life without video games?

Oh and Mrs.Wombat, could you tell Wombat to lay off his harping of HD, especially HD DVD and Blu-Ray? If HD is done right you'll notice extra details and crispness you don't see in Standard Definition.
To anyone taking issue with Nutrisystem there is always another, most likely to encourage more ravenous behavior diet which is Vegetarian or Veganism. Also I'm sure it's cheaper overall on the Organic front. If you want another suggestion there's Spiru-Tein whose shakes don't taste bad, I bought one of the cans for energy.

Doh, I guess I should've read this first. That's pretty cool, I've done some corporate interiors as well, but I doubt we crossed paths at all. I'm actually thinking of taking the LEED exam pretty soon too just to have it on the resume. Here's my question for you: With all of the snow in NYC lately, how in the heck is poor Zelda doing? I can't imagine she's very big, so the snow must make going outside a real problem.
Thanks in advance for answering! If you stick around we might have to start up the MWLA (Mrs. Wombat Liberation Army). :)

02-14-2007, 09:58 PM
ok wow..sorry ive been offline for so long.. busy day!!!
OK let me get started answering some questions..
They were mice not rats and I handled it better than Wombat did.. I think they are cute.. just pooping machines..
I am NOT a redhead.. dark brown.. almost black.. Im latino.. Colombian to be specific.. but dont ask me to speak Spanish cause I was adopted at 3 weeks old..
I hope Wombat "grow up" not "out" of video games.. one day he will need to teach our little wombats to play.. great hand eye coordination skills...
Wombat could sort of survive with a limited amount of games in a video game country.. depending on the game and the console.. Internet is a different story.. he would die without contact with the outside VG world.. especially CheapyD and Shipwreck..
Wombat and I met at a wedding (my sister in law's brother is one of Wombat's closest high school friends) We do plan on having little ones but just not now.. we re still young..
I do chime in during CAGcasts but you all can't hear me due to the high quality mic and the fact that Im restricted to another room.. maybe next week Ill steal the mic..
HD stuff.. believe me I dont like listening to it either.. chalk it up to a rant.. one thing about Wombat.. if he is "passionate" about something.. he wont shut up.. believe me.. I live with him.. I know..
I got the Blackberry 8303e.. I like it ALOT.. IM addicted already..
I actually really LOVE Logan.. and I LOVE LoVe.. I think they are great.. Logan is on my "list".. you all know about the "list" right.. ?? But he could use more hugs.. he's a little "unemotional".. still.. I think he's hot..
The Wonder Woman pic.. I have been told by Wombat that I dont want that kind of attention so I have been forbidden to share it.. sorry guys.. ask him
I have worked in what seems like every building in NYC.. I dont deal with base building.. just tenant fits outs.. etc..
I do look at the architecture in VG.. I love graphics in general.. so I wish it was better sometimes.. but I think video games should be more about how it plays and how fun it is.. more than if the architecture looks awesome and real..
Wombat can be an asshole (oops sorry for the profanity.. really guys.. Im not a wuss.. I can handle pretty much anything) but a pirate.. hmmm.. shiver me timbers.. I dont think so... but very interesting concept for a dream..
And Zelda absolutely HATES this wintry mix that has befallen NYC.. she gets outside and walks for two minutes.. and then feigns a hurt paw.. I think her paws just freeze up too fast.. so it has not only made walking her difficult.. it has made sleeping at night.. not so much of an option.. which sucks..
HAPPY VALENTINE's DAY CAGers.. oh and V-day is a nice day and all.. and Wombat has always been nothing but generous on the day.. but best/ worst thing he has done... come on.. Wombat is FANTASTIC everyday!!!
Keep the questions coming..

HD stuff.. believe me I dont like listening to it either.. chalk it up to a rant.. one thing about Wombat.. if he is "passionate" about something.. he wont shut up.. believe me.. I live with him.. I know.
Oh yeah, after many CAGcasts, we've figured that out, too. ;)
So is there anything (besides Mrs. Wombat, of course) that Mr. Wombat actually has positive things to say about, passionately? Seems like this week was a particularly trying one for the 'Bat as he really went off on a bunch of things, not the least of which was customer service in the gaming industry.

Mrs.Wombat the reason I bitch is because of what I said before and Wombat's comments potentially HURT HD DVD and BR adoption.
Once Wombat sees product like "The Aviator" he'll really see a movie in HD, "Dark City" and potentially"The Matrix" as well.

I just started being a Veronica Mars fan just this year. Bought both DVD season sets, and saw them in no more than 3 sittings. Yes, loved the first 2 seasons....but I'm hurting through this 3rd season on the CW. Are you enjoying the 3rd season? It's still good enough to find time to watch, but I'm starting to feel as if VM is showing her age. And what's with all the Logan loving. Piz is the man.

Mrs. Wombat. I must agree w/ lurk. Piz is much more worthy of Veronica's "love". On to my question: Have you lived in NY for a long time? What is your favorite part of living in a huge city? What is the worst part? Oh, and (to loosely quote eminem) why is Mr. Wombat so mad?

I've been in and out of this thread since it's debut and while nothing too interesting had happened for some reason it seemed to work. But, Mrs. Wombat, after your last post I think you have helped me turn a corner and have become a fan of yours. You seem patient, understanding, honest and open minded which makes a for a person most would like to know. Your husband on the other hand still strikes me as odd and confused in some of his statements. To be honest I find him kind of irritating, but that is from very minimal interaction and Cagcasts mostly so my impressions of him could be wrong. So this brings me to my question(s)
On a normal basis, what impression do people walk away with after meeting Wombat for the first time?
Of people you have known for a while, what do they think him after time?
I leave you with a warm welcome to the boards and to your husband I send him a playful "Lucky Bastard!!" for finding his significant other.

Is this true about him when you first met him, Mrs. Wombat?
Whenever he gives his opinion, he has this way of stating it as if he's the only one that's right and everyone else is wrong. He almost seems to have an abrasive personality when a topic comes up that he has some strong opinions about. It's a trait that's starkly different from the persona he gives off otherwise of being joking and light-hearted with a bit of tongue-in-cheek ribbing of Cheapy.

Mrs. Wombat,
I have been trying for years to get my wife into games. Most of the time she shakes her head and laughs at my game habits/collection. However, I had a small breakthrough the other day when I finally bought Guitar Hero; she played it for an hour straight! Do you have any suggestions to get her to enjoy games more? I would really like for us to be able to play games together.
Mrs. Wombat,
I work with a curtain wall company and I must say, architects make my life harder. They love to change the the look of the buildings and sometime are uncompromising. One of the project in Cleveland is delay due to constant changes made by the architect firm. What type buildings have you or your firm work on?

OK.. well first everyone.. Thank you all for the kind remarks about me and this thread.. Its been an absolute pleasure for me to hear from the CAGs and to be able to give you all a little insight into me and the man we all call Wombat.. ok on to the new bunch of questions..
I was born in Bogota, Colombia.. but like I said I was adopted by a non latino family in New York when I was only 3 weeks old.. so I do not have an accent nor do I speak Spanish fluently..(even the 4+plus years of Spanish in High school didnt help..)
I grew up on Long Island and only moved into NYC 3 years ago..the best part of living in a big city is the ease of getting around to anything you want(food, drink, culture, etc) ..the worst part is the expense..sooo freakin expensive..
My favorite movie of all time is Say Anything.. I love John Cusack (he is on the top of my "list") and I'm a sucker for a good love story.. sue me.. Im a girl ok!!
The 3rd season of VM is alright.. not as good as the first two but I still enjoy it.. I will agree that Piz is pretty awesome as well.. and I do think the writers of the show are "poking" at the concept of Veronica and Piz eventually getting together.. which could be cool.. we will all have to wait and see...
As for getting the girls into the video games.. you have to start small.. and there has to be a little spark to start.. I loved Atari and Nintendo as a child.. so if there was something out there now that was similar.. then I was drawn to it.. I also like games that I can't "die" in.. I get frustrated easily.. and games like Animal Crossing fits that for me.. you cant force them to like it.. you got to try to get them to enjoy watching you play.. get her to help you solve puzzles or look out for "gun toting baddies"..
OK and Ive saved the best for last.. and some of you may not like what I am about to say.. but just stick with me.. please!! Wombat and my husband are two different people (not really TWO people.. just two personlties).. yes..he has strong opinions and can certainly come off as a "know it all".. but Wombat is the yin to Cheapy's yang.. come on you guys have to admit that you listen to the CAGcast to see what that idiot Wombat is going to "rant" on about this week.. I will admit that he doesnt like to be wrong.. and that has certainly been a point of contention between us many a time.. but he truly means well and is just trying to get one side out there.. so whether it be HD DVD or BR.. or a gaming companies policies.. etc.. Wombat just wants to rile some feathers.. but RE--E--EALLy guys (said in Scrubs' Dr Cox fashion) if you think what Wombat says really effects anything (beyond his own ego).. then you all are giving him way too much credit and I'm sure he appreciates you thinking he has that much ability to sway others.. so to summarize.. Wombat's not mad.. he just doesnt have any better of a forum than the CAGcast to rant and rave where noone is their to tell him to shut the hell up... cause I usually just tune him out..
As for first impressions and lasting impressions.. lets put it this way.. I fell in love with him after one meeting and his closest friends have been his friends since childhood.. and his college buddies treat him like a god.. nuff said..
Mrs Wombat OUT!!! Keep em coming, boys and girls..ciao

Well, that's not all true, for me anyway. I hadn't heard any CagCast up until recently, the last 3 actually are the only ones I've heard.
While I don't agree with everything Cheapy has to say or what he considers to be exciting I find him to be his own guy with decent opinions. Cheapy seems to take some kind of time to do some sort of research before stating his opinion while Wombat is more like one who talks out of his ass. So if that is what you mean by being the Yin then yes I guess you are right. Now I don't have an issue with any single topic in particular like HD, Blu Ray or his views on the videogame industry but it is just more of a gut feeling that comes to me while listening to him.

Santurio.. I think everyone is entitled to their opinions.. and I do understand the "gut" feeling you get from listening to him. And please keep trying to "figure" Wombat out.. Im still learning.. and Ive known him for 6 years (2.5 in marriage) Wombat has a wealth of knowledge on alot of things (not just VGs) and you are correct to say that he doesnt do NEARLY the same amount of reasearch that Cheapy does for each week's show.. but he does read up on what is current and stuff and alot of what he doesnt do research on is for the "spontaneous" thought on the air. There is method to the madness that is Wombat.. but hate him or love him.. Wombat will not change... not even a little.. Happy Friday everyone!!

Im am feeling much better now.. thank gawd for a three day weekend... So Im back..
There arent a ton of questions but I will answer the ones that have been pending..
I have not head of My Sassy Girl. When I looked it up it came up as a Korean film from 2001 and a new release this year with Jesse Bradford and Elisha Cuthbert.. I read the plot and it looks right up my alley so I will look out for the English version this year...
Ive also never heard of Candlelight Cafe.. and I cant find it anywhere on any of my typical NYC food sites.. so sorry.. let me know where it is and why we should go there and maybe we will..
As for Rez .. Ive never played it and probably wont.. not really my thing.. I have watched Wombat play Viva Pinate but I just never really got into it.. I though it was cute and all.. but just couldnt get into it. To be honest with you all.. Im not a huge Video Gamer.. I am an old school girl when it comes to those.. I DO like puzzle games.. you know like Sudoku, Crossword puzzles, etc.. thats what I like and it actually helps me get into the right frame of mind for my job..
Music wise... Wombat is the old with the "old school" taste.. i would say he has the more classic rock vibe and I tend to enjoy whatever is on the Top 40 that week.. So I would say Im the one who likes "Crap" and he sticks to what he knows..But my favorite music band is BNL (Barenaked Ladies) LOVE THEM!! Been to every NYC concert except one.. have all there albums.. etc.. but I do like what is hot and new.. Right now I am really enjoying bands like The Fray, Snow Patrol, etc.. I tend to like Alternative music.. so no we do not have the same taste in music.. not even a little..
And I dont think I m prettier than Shakira.. by any means.. but my husband is very sweet to think so.. as long as he thinks im prettier than Shakira then its ALL GOOD!!!
Anyway, come on people.. I know your looking at this thread.. ask some questions.. I guess i couldnt expect it last forever.. anyway, back to the TV watching on my day off..

They need a White version to make it all right for Americans since most are too lazy to read during movies and don't want to see a movie with a full minority cast unless it's Black or sometimes Latino.
It also has to do with the fact Hollywood doesn't want to stretch themselves and do something original, it wouldn't be quick enough. Personally I think they should try the minimalist approach that Japan has to do and perhaps South Korea, be on a VERY limited budget.
Btw "Vanilla Sky" is ripped off a flick from Spain and "Criminal" was remade off "Nine Queens".
Even "Battle Royale" is being remade by New Line Cinema sadly.

You hit the nail on the head with the reading comment. Most people do not want to "read" their movies. As I was expressing interest in Pans Labyrinth, a friend told me "why would you want to see that? it is all words. If you want to read, why dont you read a book" It was probably one of the most ignorant and stupid statements I have heard in awhile but a sentiment that is echoed by many.
Then again alot of people dont like video games either - something else I cant understand.

Yeah, it's rather sad. I've noticed that for a while.
Another thing, is that movies that are originally from another country, are dumbed down and are apparently less confusing. I wish they would just bring the original films to our theaters.

Just wondering; has Mr. Wombats gaming addictions ever driven you to plain old choking the life out of him?
mrswombat
02-20-2007, 09:01 PM
ok.. Im going to be honest here.. I guess Im ignorant and stupid .. because I dont like to read my movies either.. hate it.. and to me it has everything to do with being able to enjoy my 2 hours of movie watching...I dont like to think beyond pictures when it coes to movies.. I'm a BOOK reader.. not a MOVIE reader.. I dont mind the occasional subtitle.. but a whole movie in subtitles just doesnt appeal to me. Sorry..
Sophie's is all the way downtown and Wombat and I live on the Upper East Side.. so we rarely if ever go all the way downtown to eat unless we are down there for some reason (we are just that lazy).. Chipolte is a chain and I have eaten there.. i really like the ame your own bowls they have.. but chains in general we tend to not go to all the time.. I guess we figure we live in mahattan where you dont need to go to a chain unless you get a cravin..
I do have Sudoku on the DS.. well through Brainage that is... its pretty cool.. I usually just go online..
I am about 5'-7" tall..
I love Mac and Wallace and have been bummed that they havent done more with them on VM.. I really like when Wallace or Mac aid Veronica in the solving of that weeks case.. At least Mac has been in a few episodes but Wallace hasnt been in nearly as many episodes this season..
My best physical features.. hmm.. I love my hair.. and Ive been told my other best feature are my "boobs" .. My worst physical feature... I would say are all my scars.. I was an athelete when i was younger and I tend to scratch alot so I have alot of scars on my legs.. which I hate..
My best personality trait is that Im a great listener and am always really generous.. and my worst personality trait is that I get jealous really easily and Im way too generous sometimes.. :)
My favorite cereal is ...hmm.. I have a top three.. too hard to single out.. they are.. Raisin Bran, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Honey Nut Cheerios
And yes I have almost choked Wombat with his video game addiction.. but more so I just get emotionally hurt when he yells at me for stupid things like stepping in front of the TV while he is playing and stuff like that.. other than that I have learned to let him have some time and then speak up when I think he has had enough... and therefore I have had enough
And lastly as for a pic of Zelda I would totally post one.. if I knew how to.. so if someone could write out how I do it then I will.. (and I may be in the pic as well.. we have some cute ones from last weekend of her and me sleeping on the couch).. oh and she is a shih tzu..
Keep em coming.. I got to go hide in the other room.. the boys are recording this weeks show.. Ciao for now..

Even with it having subs and your dislike of them I highly suggest you see the original given it's eccenticity. I doubt the American version would have the same punch, quite literally and figuratively. Elisha's character won't beat the shit out of the guy for one, a must to be faithful to the original. Also another part of this movie's strength is based on cultural standards, that and it has a strange, sweet heart.

That's about the nasal spray that the makers of Cold-Eeze losanges used to make. There's a few others on the market, most notably Zicam. They've been suspected of causing loss of smell for a few years. The throat losanges, however, have never had any complaints about them that I'm aware of.
Edit: To stay on topic -- Mrs. Wombat, don't post your pic on here! Wombat is totally right about this one. Not posting preserves the mystery and also saves the inevitable snide remarks from the ocks on here. A pic of Zelda would be hilarious good times, though.

The originals usually trump the American dumbed down remakes by a mile, so you might want to try getting used to subtitles. I used to hate them myself but being an avid anime watcher, I had to either go with the subtitle flow or miss out on some series that were not dubbed at the time (Cardcaptor Sakura, Skaura Diaries). Plus would have missed out on movies that i like such as Wasabi and Amelie.
Sorry just the anti subtitle people irritate me kinda like the ones that complain about black bars on their tvs..... didnt mean the comment to be an insulting one, was just a side observation that was in no way meant to be a direct derogatory remark.
I wonder why people on CAG are so brutal especialloy in regards to pictures. Very few of us are going to be winning beauty contests anytime soon, and it seems so childish to see people tear each other apart over a few photos. Those that have been brave enough to post them and suffer the backlash anyway.

It's scary how similar your tastes are to mrs. shipwreck's. But she has similar gaming tastes as Wombat.
We do have similar tastes, except for the video games. Sudoku reminds me too much of math class with all the numbers and I'd much rather just blow something up after a long day of class. I'm going to see Music and Lyrics this weekend, looks like a true mindless chick flick. And I'm not even going to make Shipwreck go see it. :) Glad you're feeling better. Next time Shipwreck and I are in New York, we'll need to get together for some good food ... we only have chains here in Ohio!

CAGS.. let me know if I did it right or not..
I am originally from Long Island.. I grew up on the North Shore.. Wombat the South Shore..
No habla espanol bien (bueno).. see Im no good.. Took it in high school.. but never really got the hang of it..
I will try to get my hands on the Korean version of My Sassy Girl.. but I wont make any promises that I will make it through it.. nuff said about that..
Wombat does not look or act like John Lovitz.. I can see where you get that idea though.. He isnt quite as annoying.. ok.. maybe he is..
My favorite sport to watch is FOOTBALL.. my favorite player is Donovan McNabb of the Eagles (although this season it was hard to be since he was injured pretty much all season).. but I have to support my fellow Cuse grads..
Three things I beat Wombat in:
1. spending money
2. salary
3. finding lost items
Thats the best I can do.. for now.
Mrs Shipwreck.. when you and the mister are in town.. we are TOTALLY hanging out.. just tell us when and we will set it up!!!
Thanks all.. Ciao for now..

I was shocked to see the pic of Zelda at first, but I've warmed up to her. Isn't it funny how when you just hear someone's voice you come up with a mental image that's totally different from how they really look? I pictured Zelda as being a little less of a fluff ball. :)
Here's another question for you, Mrs. Wombat -- do you guys expect to always live in NYC? I think I'd get exhausted living in such a big city. In the few times I've been through there I've been amazed and oddly depressed by the crush of the population, many of whom appeared to live in squalid buildings being held up only by the hundreds of coats of paint. Ever think of living some place warmer with more open space?

Is Wombat jealous that this thread has inexplicably become more popular than The Wombat Jornal or WLA threads?
PS McNabb will be league MVP this upcoming season as the Eagles go on to lose the Superbowl. I've accepted the fact we (Philly) will never win another sports championship...

I totally pegged Zelda as a beagle! Very cute...
As a fellow Video Game wife, I am glad you have started this thread so you can share your point of view!
As for the Mrs. Wombat Liberation Army...where do we sign up???
Now for the Question:
Have you ever bought Wombat a video game as a present and it totally backfired? I always try buying games for my husband but don't really know what I am buying and end up spoiling the gift by asking too many questions. I also got him a game he already had (while we were dating)

Ok, so somebody has already asked about Veronica Mars (which sometimes films at my school, SDSU!), but Gilmore Girls happens to be my guilty pleasure (I'm a sucker for Alexis Bledel). So here are some Gilmore Girls related questions...
Relationships are a big deal this season. Who was your favorite Rori boyfriend (Dean, Jess, Logan, etc...) and do you think Rori and Logan will last for the long run?
Also what about Lorelai, will she go back to Luke, and would Luke even let her back in his life? As well, is this the last we will see or hear from Chris?
Can't wait for next tuesday! And Welcome Mrs. Wombat!

How's having a dog in an apartment? Do you take it out every day? I've recently been thinking about getting a dog but we live in an apartment, so it'd have to be a small one. We've been thinking about getting a small terrier or a bichon frise or something similar.

My favorite sport to watch is FOOTBALL.. my favorite player is Donovan McNabb of the Eagles (although this season it was hard to be since he was injured pretty much all season).. but I have to support my fellow Cuse grads.. Mrs. Wombat - A few questions for you -
Is Wombat as big a sports fan as you are? If so, what sports does he watch? Who does he root for?
Also, you graduated from SU? Thats awesome, I live about 2 and a half / 3 hours east in a town called Gloversville - I really love SU as well as the city - I too hope to go to college there some day, maybe even live there.
How did you pick Syracuse as your college? Was it an easy desicion? What other colleges were you looking at?
Do you follow SU Basketball at all? Their having a tough go at it this year, but i'll never forget that '03 team.. its unfortunate that everyone has come and gone since then, but what a great year for them.
Welcome to the site!

ok.. Yes.. Zelda is a fluff ball.. and she gets brushed out every other day it seems.. she gets groomed once every 6 weeks and she can be really annoying to live with.. but we love her.. she's my baby!!
Wombat and I will not be in NYC forever.. in fact I would say we are already pretty sick of the city in general. I mean it has its benefits in regard to being a subway ride away from work and the closeness to everything without having to get into a car.. but I am more than ready to buy a house in the suburbs and be domestic. I would love to "keep a home".. but right now our rent still doesnt equal or exceed a mortgage.. we are getting there though.. but just not quite yet. As for moving.. I would move somewhere warmer in a sec if I could be guaranteed the same salary I make here in NY.. which probably wont happen.. So we probably will stay here in NY.. just would move to Long island or Westchester
Wombat thinks its great that this thread has become so popular.. maybe a little jealous.. but he will get over it.. as long as I dont say something Im not supposed to.. he is fine..
I try my best NOT to buy Wombat any video games as gifts.. especially now.. when we were dating I still wasnt familar with the types of games he liked.. so I stayed away from that. I have bought him hardware for his platforms.. back in the day I had found the network adapter thing (?) for the PS2 that was so hard to find at the time and bought him that.. which he loved.. but i stick to his other hobbies when buying gifts.. I leave the VGs up to him to purchase or mooch for.. ;)
Now onto my fav question of the batch.. GILMORE GIRLS!!!
My fav Rory boyfriend is probably Jess.. although Logan is a hottie so he has just this season moved up on the list.. As for LORO (Logan and Rory).. I think Logan has been too good to be true lately and I'm waiting for the "other shoe to drop".. and they break up.. I like him so I want them to last but then the show is over really (or a new show will emerge).. same thing with Lorelei.. I think she will bounce back and forth between what she wants (Luke or Chris).. cause when she settles.. the show is over.. now a question for you.. how do you like the writing this season so far.. since Amy Palladino left the show after last season..??
As for having Zelda and living in an apartment.. we did alot of research on what type of dogs would thrive in a small NYC apartment. Its a huge responsilbility and not one to take lightly.. I would not recommend any terrier (they need a ton of room to run around.. even small ones) A bichon is probably a good choice.. and I highly recommend shih tzus.. although they are a little needy.. they are the definition of a lap dog.. we walk Zelda three times a day for about 15-20 minutes each time.. and occasionally we take her out with us during errands on weekends to give her more exercise.. but she tires quickly.. she is weewee pad trained and stays home alone all day..(if I could afford doggy daycare.. I would do it).. so do your research.. go to the AKC webpage (i think its www.akc.org (http://www.akc.org)) and read up on the breeds you are interested in.. for an apartment you want a low energy dog who doesnt need a ton of room.. good luck.. Id love to know what you decide on!!!
Wombat is a BIGGER sports fan than I.. I really only like Football.. wombat likes football too.. but also likes baseball and others.. he roots for the NY teams.. Giants and Jets.. Yankees & Mets.. I forget which one he prefers..
As for Syracuse.. yeah.. I got my Bachelor of Architecture (its a 5 year professional degree) there... a while back.. I picked Cuse because of a few things.. I got a chancellor's scholarship to go.. and its one of the top rated architecure schools in the nation plus it had a great arts and science program in case architecture didnt work out for me.. I also had looked at Cornell, RPI, Roger Williams, Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, Pratt and NYIT.. but Cuse won out in the end.. and I think it was the best choice.. I would highly recommend Syracuse to anyone..
I think thats it for this round.. This has been an awesome experience for me so keep em coming.. Ciao for now CAGS!!!

Hey there Mrs. Wombat
I think it's pretty cool you've gotten your own thread. Couple of questions:
1. Does Wombat have a problem with you making more money than him? (even though his new job seems to be a step up in pay for him) My wife is about to graduate and become a pharmacist. While my parents seem to be threatened by her being the main bread-winner, I have no problem with it. He doesn't seem liket the guy to be threatened by that sort of thing, but you never know!
2. Do you really like Piz? The wife and I think he's really the worst character on the show this year and is completely devoid of any depth because of both bad writing and the wrong actor for the part. Also, do you think Dick has gotten nicer this season or is he the same old guy he was before? Let's hope it gets renewed for another season!

Hi Mrs Wombat,
What advice would you give to a gamer such as I who's better half is not as patient as you are with their's hubby's gamer habit? We've had major disagreements and I'm trying to meet her halfway but unlike your situation where it seems you have reached an understanding I am still struggling in my own relationship. Things are improving but I hope you could help shed some light from a lady's perspective.
Nice to know you're representing latinas! I myself come from Queens, NYC and am 50/50 Argentinan/Puerto Rican. Just out of curiosity are you a fan of an Latin music or have you given the music a try? I enjoy mostly Salsa & Merengue.
Thanks for your time!

Go Mets! It's funny because I'm originally from the BX, so people automatically assume I'm a Yankee fan. Now that I'm in New England, I'm "accepted" because I'm a Mets fan instead.
And Mrs. W, I've heard a couple of other people tell me terriers were tough too, so I might have to change my mind. My fiance seems to really want a Yorkie, but I wonder if they're ok since they're in the toy group. It's definitely a tough choice, and we're really doing our research to find the perfect pup.

OK.. I never stated that I knew which team Wombat actually rooted for.. I believe I just said New York Teams.. I even said I didnt remember which one he preferred.. so SUCK IT!!!;)
As for making more money than Wombat, Wombat is all for it.. he doesnt care if Im the bread winner.. in fact he would love for me to make more.. When we have little wombats, Wombat would love to be a stay at home wombat and me be the career mom.. which Im all for if we could do it.. so no.. no jealousy there.. not even a little.. he knows Im good at what I do..
Veronica Mars talk.. OK I have to confess something.. I have been confusing Piz and Weevil in my mind.. I actually like Weevil alot more that Piz.. I dont think the writers have really developed the Piz character.. I think he is hot.. but not a good addition to the cast.. none of the new characters are really anything to write home about.. I still love Mac though.. She's my girl.. Weevil is awesome.. so I take back my comments about Piz.. or just replace Piz with Weevil..
And lastly, how do you get the women on board with video games...?? you got to find the right girl to begin with.. I know ...lame response.. but hear this.. I KNEW WHAT I WAS GETTING MYSELF INTO WHEN I STARTED DATING WOMBAT!!! PERIOD.. I knew he loved his video games and yes we fight about it alot.. mostly about him spending more quality with the video games than with me.. his wife.. but I knew it was something I would need to learn to balance out.. and just over time.. and the fact that he loves me.. and doesnt want to lose me to something as lame as playing too much video games... we have come to a happy compromise. We have learned to spend the majority of our time doing the things we like to do together.. and then (and only then) does Wombat play his video games for a few hours.. either I stay and watch and read a book, a magazine or play on my laptop and at least we are together or I go and do something for myself.. the key is compromise.. dont be selfish with your playing and dont force it on her.. baby steps man.. if she loves you.. she will come around..

Hi Mrs. Wombat,
I was just wondering how you and Wombat were going to address video gaming when you start having little wombats in the house. Do you forsee video games being a major part of their lives and is that something you want or are concerned about? Or do you think videogames will be something your other half will need to be curtail, especially with M rated games. I just wonder since I'm getting married soon and while we're far away from little wombats in my life, it's something I've already started to think about.

02-25-2007, 03:29 PM
ok.. wombat does NOT look anything like Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch.. not even a little.. you guys were closer with the Jon Lovitz comment then Cousin Oliver...
When we start having little wombats.. video gaming will be Wombat's charge.. and I think Wombat will be a good father enough to know what our littles ones will be allowed to play and what he will keep for himself. I think video game playing is actually great for hand eye coordination.. and as long as Wombat and the kids dont get addicted to it all the time and we limit the playing to after schoolwork is done or similar rules then I will be ok with video gaming in the household..
As for the porn.. YES I WILL ANSWER THIS QUESTION...I think Im more of a fan of it then the Wombat sometimes.. well Im a girl.. I dont like hard core porn.. I like "Skin-a-max porn.". but sadly we got rid of our movie channels because the real movies were always crap..we now have Netflix.. but Im really very ok with that sort of stuff.. porn.. strip clubs.. etc.. I know Wombat knows that the good stuff is at home.. ;)
You people really havent realized yet that there isnt much that makes me cringe.. I'm very open, people.. I dont get offended easily.. I may just not answer some things due to not giving it all up.. keeping some stuff secret isnt a crime!!! Keep em coming!!! Keep the thread alive!!

Also, what are your most and least favorite things about NYC (multiple answers for both is cool)?
And finally, has post-9/11 security become a hassle for living in the city?

Hypothetical scenario: Wombat comes down with laryngitis on a particularly big 'news week' in gaming, two days before the CAGCast. Given that much time to prepare, plus his help producing an outline, would you feel comfortable for sitting in for him, even if only to do a truncated 30-45 minute show? In other words, do you feel like your gaming knowledge has hit 'CAGCast-worthy' through listening to him do the CAGCast?
Maybe that question was effectively already asked. If so, sorry for the laziness.

Sorry it took me forever to get back to you, but I decided to wait til last night's episode to write you back.
The new writer(s) seem to be getting the show down for the most part. I felt like there was a uniqueness to the characters as well as a certain "spark" to Star's Hallow that had been missing since Palladino left. However as I was watching last night's episode, all of those missing things seem to have come back. So to answer your question fully, I am enjoying the writing this season, however I desperately want to know where Palladino would have gone with the story. One thing that will always bother me once the show is over, is that Palladino said something along the lines of, "I have always known what I want the last two lines of the final show to be," and that now we will never hear Palladino's perfect ending.
Anyway, it looks like you called it with Logan, the "other shoe is dropping..." and fast! Can't wait to see how the future pans out for our girls!

hello folks... ok the new batch of questions are to be answered:
I love to travel.. but Mr Wombat does not like to go far.. mostly because we cant afford it.. I have had the pleasure of travelling through Europe and living in Italy for a semester during college.. but Wombat only left the country for the first time during our honeymoon.. if we had more vacation time and more money I think we would travel more.. Also, Zelda keeps us local for the most part.. I dont like to put her in a kennel..
I think Ive answered the question of what I like in NYC and what I dont.. but Ill say it again... maybe it will be a different reason this time.. I love the closeness of everything.. from food to culture to transportation.. etc.. what I hate is the cost and the lack of personal space..
As for life in NYC post 9/11.. the security is only a pain in the airports.. other than that the security in the buildings is status quo.. but I guess the scariest thing and the thing that puts me always on edge are the National Guardsman with semi automatic weapons that have been at the train stations (Penn adn Grand Central) and the cops in the subways since 9/11/01
As for taking over for Wombat if he had larangitis.. umm.. no.. that would not go over very well.. if the CAGcast was all about TV shows and the latest trends... then yes.. but even listening to the CAGcast.. I still have not absorbed nearly enough stuff.. PLEASE.. I barely listen to Wombat as it is now.. but I would do another show like what Mrs Cheapy and I did during CAGcast 52 (or whatever one it was..)
As for the keeping a small child away from wanting to open "daddy's toys".. my theory is to buy two of everything.. Wombat does that now for the things he reallys wants to see up close.. but in general.. Wombat keeps "his toys" out of sight and I have always said that when we finally "make it" financially in this world and have a big house and stuff that I would design a room just for him and his "toys".. figures, posters, and video game stuff.. the Wombat room..He cant wait for that...
Wombat is the greatest marsupial!!! DUH!! But I'm biased...
And no I have never considered designing a game level.. I wouldnt necessarily say video games is a hobby of mine.. its more of a support of my husband's love for video games.. but I do think it would be cool to have an idea become a level for a game.. I think I have to think about that idea more.. but I dont see myself doing anything like that.. or really wanting too.. honestly..
As for if a tree falls in an empty forest.. who can hear it? ... um.. for me.. um.. I dont have a clever answer for that.. all I can say is that if you lived close enough to the forest and the tree is big enough.. I would think you would at least feel the vibration of the tree hitting the ground.. hope thats a good enough answer...
Anyway, Im really glad to be entertaining you all who are regularly reading this thread.. keep the questions coming.. I"ll be back on tomorrow to see whats new.. Thanks

Wombat is the greatest marsupial!!! DUH!! But I'm biased...
Okay, I expected that. Now for the tough one:
You and Wombat are spending a warm summer day doing what only Wombats do (what is it that Wombats do, anyway?). Suddenly, a dingo attacks. What do you - and Wombat - do? Retreat deeper into your tunnel-complex and hope the predator can't follow, or attempt to crush it against the roof of the tunnel?

Mrs. Wombat, what did you dream of doing when you were younger, job-wise? Being an architect, it seems like you may have been one of the lucky ones who got to follow their dream into a job that pays. For me, I was into broadcasting and audio production but ended up in a random desk job because it paid more.
Also, you should prod Cheapy and Wombat to do another wives' show. That was a pretty great CAGcast.

OK.. for your info.. wombats eat and sleep and occasionally fornicate... and they are cute as a button!!!
So if a dingo attacked.. wombat would tame it and make it his pet. Nuff said!!
As for what I wanted to do when I was younger.. you could say I grew into what I became.. I always loved building with blocks and legos when I was a kid so becoming an architect was not a far stretch for me.. but its not what I always wanted to do.. I went through phases.. I wanted to be an artist, a fashion designer, an interior designer and eventually after taking some architectural drafting classes in high school an architect. I went to a summer program in Cornell between my jr and sr years in high school and that sealed the deal for me.. so yes.. I think I am one of those lucky ones that followed their dream.. but under no circumstances is architecture a career with money.. I know tv and movies glamorize the job so it seems like we make a ton of money and get to make cool things.. but unless you have a license and own your own firm.. the money isnt that great.. even in NYC.. the money isnt that great.. Its funny because me and my co workers always joke about how we are in the wrong field.. GCs (general contractors) and Client Reps.. thats where the money is in the building industry.. NOT ARCHITECTURE!! So dont let TV shows and movies like Sleepless in Seattle fool you into thinking architects are fantastically wealthy and have all this free time on their hands.. we dont.. but us architects do get to do what we love to do.. and I do love what I do so yeah I guess I did get to follow my dream..
As for another CAGcast with the wives.. maybe someone should start a petition thread for it to really see if there are people out there who want to hear it.. I think it may be a mixed bag.. not everyone wants us chicks on the airwaves.. but thanks for saying you liked that episode.. I would do it again..

MrsWombat...who are the "guys" on your list....you know your list. I'm sure we'd all like to get an idea of what kind of gal that you are.
Also, I'm off of the Veronica Mars wagon. I'm just not into it this year. I don't find the time to seek it out when it's on...maybe I'll just catch up on DVD, but it's just not as interesting. I need more Mac and Wallace.

Okay, I asked this question once, and people thought I crossed the line. But after some of the other questions on here, I must repeat:
Mrs. Wombat, if your husband was a pirate, what would be the first port he would plunder? And what would the rape:pillage ratio be?

Yep the lesser "crow" is on my list.. but as Daniel Mead.. not a bird who changes into a human and kicks ass.. or whatever the Crow plotline is..
I have seen before sunset and before sunrise and did enjoy them.. but ethan hawke does nothing for me.. but they are sweet movies.. I think one of them made me cry.. whichever one came out first..
As for celebrities I resemble.. I dont know.. Ive been told I have one of those faces that everyone knows.. if that makes any sense. You know like, "Gosh, you look like someone I knew when I was younger.." that sort of thing.. Now, like a few weeks ago at a friends bridal shower, her mother told me I looked like someone but couldnt place it.. she was like.. maybe Demi Moore??.. but I dont think I look like her.. but who knows? It was a nice compliment anyway..As for Wombat.. hmmm.. Jon Lovitz is sort of right.. but cuter.. and much younger.. Ill have to think about that one a little more.. sorry
As for me in other threads.. i have posted in the TV Cooler thread once or twice.. I just dont have a ton of time to read all the threads and comment.. unless they are about tv or trends or movies.. I cant really comment on vgs and the other stuff.. but I do peruse the threads and if there is something for me to comment on without sounding like an idiot I do.. but I will try to post more on the the other threads..

Hi, Mrs. Wombat! Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been listening to the CAGcast for about a year and a half and posting on the boards for about as long. I kind of identify with your husband, as I’m in my early 30’s and married to a lovely woman who makes more than I do (she’s an engineer and I work in publishing). We also have a precocious dog. I enjoy Wombat's perspective on things and yours, as it reminds me of a lot of the same discussions my wife and I have. Indeed, a lot of my attraction to CAG has to do with the fact that there seem to be a lot of guys here who have successfully integrated gaming into a well-rounded adult life involving a happy marriage and children.
I’m probably not as devoted to videogames as Wombat and some others here, as I only have a Wii and a DS, and most of my time is spent playing the latter while we watch TV or movies together. But video games are certainly something that need to be negotiated within a marriage. Maybe it’s this generation’s equivalent of the husband spending time at a bar or playing golf (neither of which appeal to me). My wife enjoys playing games occasionally (she loved the GameCube Animal Crossing, but quickly lost interest in the DS version), and will watch me play some games. But I probably play less than I would otherwise out of deference to her and a desire to keep our marriage on an even keel.
I was interested in what you said a while back about how you hope someday Wombat can stay home and raise the kids while you pursue your career. This was our plan too, for the first few years of our marriage, due to my wife’s greater earning potential. But as we’ve gotten closer to the time when we plan to start trying for kids, my wife has had a pretty serious change of heart and decided it is much more important to her to be able to raise our children full-time. And it's important to me that she has that. This has forced us to prepare for some pretty significant lifestyle changes and required me to become comfortable with the idea of being the sole breadwinner. Do you think Wombat could handle that responsibility? And do you think he’ll make a good stay-at-home dad?
BTW, thought you would be interested to know that my wife and I met because of John Mayer. This was back when he was a nobody playing listening room gigs down here in Atlanta, including one three blocks from our current house. I used to go see him back then and literally sat four feet away from him. The future Mrs. Tybee was searching a Yahoo group about him that I belonged to while I happened to be online. We started chatting and the rest, as they say, is history.
Anyway, keep up the good thread. My wife really enjoyed the episode with you and Mrs. Cheapy (as did I)!

OK CAGS.. Im back from vacation and ready to get back into my thread.. so BRING IT ON!!!
To MrDemonicAngel: I wish I could explain the "more masterbation" thing.. but I really can't.. Wombat probably shouldnt of brought it up at all.. but it was "funny" Im sure for everyone.. Let's just leave it at it was the "therapist's recommendation"
To lurknomore: a bit of a "mean" question... not in a bad way but just sort of forcing me to think about such a "not so nice" topic... I would have to say I would be the one to cheat or stray.. I have, in my past, been known for doing that sort of thing. Its not something I am proud of and I would like to think I have matured since then. Neither one of us could be "abusive".. physically or mentally.. but like all married couples we have fights that hurt each of our feelings but we always work things out. I can not keep mad at Wombat for very long so we usually move past things quickly. But if I ever EVER cheated... Wombat would never let that go and would probably leave the marriage.. I hope to NEVER let that happen. We are both commited to each other and to our marriage..
To Tybee: Thanks for the nice sentiments.. Wombat and I are "real people" with the same "issues" as everyone else on this website.. and we really enjoy being sounding boards for all those couples out there that have that same fight regarding the balance between VGs and relationships.. so thanks!!
Anyway, Im back.. sunburnt and relaxed and ready to be back in the game.. so bring it on... and I still say if you all want another CAGcast with the wives.. let Wombat and CheapyD know it.. I only have so much power!!! Let them know what you want to hear.. Ciao for now!!!

The second part was just a joke of course. ;)

03-31-2007, 05:52 PM
The meatspin thing was hysterical if you ask me. Wombat truly had no idea what it was when CheapyD asked him to go to it.. The honest reaction was awesome I thought!! He got me with it too BTW!!! I almost puked up my lunch.. Wombat had a good laugh at my response to it..
My fav TMNT is Donatello because he wears purple and thats ny favorite color..yeah!! Turtle Power!!!!
As for my vacation.. well first it involved two weddings (pretty much in a row).. first we had a friends' wedding on LI .. during that noreaster that NY got.. we were both in the bridal party.. then we had to fly out on Saturday (we lucked out and didnt get cancelled or delayed.. and we went JetBlue) to go down to Fort Lauderdale for the second wedding which was a family wedding and was on Sunday night.. that wedding was Wombat's cousin's wedding.. both weddings were fabulous (and yes.. the ones Wombat mentioned on the show).. but the travelling was a bit stressful with the weather situation and all.. Wombat had to be back at work the next week so he flew home on Monday morning and I flew up to Orlando to go see my parents (they are snow birds and have a home in FL for Oct thru May). Now the funny thing is that my parents live in one of those "over 55 retirement communities".. this place is UNBELIEVEABLE.. it is TRULY Disneyworld for retired people.. It has its on zip code, two town squares, over 22 gold courses, clubs of every variety, free concerts, 2 pools per "village".. it has its own assisted living facility, its own hospital, etc... the best part is that everyone drives around in golf carts (there are regular streets for cars too but they actually have specific "golf cart" paths and tunnels and parking spaces) Its really funny yet I think it is a "oasis" for everyone who lives there. And for me it is the ultimate vacation because my parents pay for everything and I get to do whatever I want.. so I hit some balls at the driving range, went shopping, sat by the pool, ate out for every meal, got to see a free concert(broadway tunes.. hey it was free) and went to something that would be the equivalent of a high school talent show.. but with all retired people.. (pretty hysterical.. but surprisingly good.. those oldtimers know how to put on a show :) Anyway, the only downfall to the trip was dealing wiht my mother for longer than two days and missing my 2 loves at home.. Wombat and Zelda.. but I did need the break and I got a little bit of a tan.. so it was all good..
As for everyone discussing my intimacies on the air.. Ill be honest with you.. Im usually the one who gives Wombat the go ahead to mention it.. and EVERYTIME.. I regret saying it was ok for him to air.. this last one really got to me.. the masterbation thing.. but I know that things like that tend to go by the wayside in due time.. The CAGcast is not about the intimacies of WOmbat and I.. it has to do with video games and those who follow and love to play them.. so I tend to not care about out details being out there.. cause usually there is some game that really is more important to be discussed.. and to be really honest.. I kind of enjoy being talked about on the air or on the interwebs... as long as it is nice things.. and wombat knows that..
but anyway, no I do not have a myspace page.. joke or no joke.. wouldnt be able to keep it up to date.. the best I have is this thread.. cause I do actually enjoying finding no posts here.. and its easy to get Wombat to look at it too.. its a family affair!!!

mrswombat
04-06-2007, 11:57 PM
Hey y'all.. Im back to answer the few questions that have been added..
Wombat have never bought a game just to buy the game.. he will at least play it once.. give it a shot.. he has bought games and only played them once or twice and then sold them back.. I can not get mad at Wombat for his purchases because he has the "trade in" down to a science.. we always joke that I spend more money on clothes then he does on VGs in a year.. so therefore I have nothing to complain about.. he is very good at getting VGs for next to nothing..
Wombat: semi-hard-working marsupial by day, HARD-ly working but playful marsupial by night.
For the record.. Wombat would be AMAZING with kids.. I know that one person said that having a dog doesnt mean a thing.. but I strongly disagree.. if how Wombat reacts and acts with Zelda now is any indication on what kind of father Wombat will be.. then he will be extremely caring.. overly cautious.. and ALOT of fun. Wombat will be stern but aware.. a friend and a disciplinarian.. When he is ready to have kids.. he will embrace it wholeheartedly..
As for Wombat's arch enemy... hmmm.. there are MANY CAGs that I can tell do not like him very much.. and I guess that comes with the territory.. to me.. its a sign of success.. to be successful you must be hated by some portion of the community.. I honestly dont know all the names of these people.. but no one is ever liked entirely.. and thats ok with me.. and I think Wombat is ok with that too.. I would like to think alot of it is partially jealousy and I also think that Wombat can come off as a know-it-all.. believe me... I Know.. Im married to him. there are days that I would say I AM HIS ARCH ENEMY...
Anyway, I am now up to date with answering your questions.. Thanks for playing.. Have a great Easter weekend!!!

Hey y'all.. you all must be getting bored of me cause the thread has dropped down the list.. oh well.. if you keep asking questions.. I will keeping answering them..
My favorite console to play is/was Gamecube.. I like the games on it in general.. I have ease of use of the controller and I can play it with my nephews (if they ever asked me).. I like the Wii now too.. but the games on it bore me after a few playings.. Although the new Paper Mario on it is AWESOME!! I watched Wombat play it last night and it seemed really easy and fun to play. As for console I like to watch.. I think the Xbox 360 is the best thing out there.. I just like the way it is all set up.. its too complex for me to play with but I will from time to time play a little Hexic.. I just can't get the controller down.. but thats just me..
And I have tried playing a few RPGs and first person shooters.. they just arent for me.. I tried playing co-op with Wombat on one of those WWII first person shooters(I forget the title) and just got lost with all the controllers and cameras and the like..and from time to time I do play Oblivion for Wombat when he is in the bathroom and I can just run through the towns and investigate.. The less buttons there are to know the better off I am.. And sport games.. meh.. just dont care for them..
And as for Wombat and his guitar.. do you mean his real one or the guitar hero one?? He is really into the guitar hero right now... and for his real guitar.. he really hasnt had time to play it for real.. plus it sort of freaks Zelda out when he does.. she barks at him until he stops.. As for what he plays on his guitar.. alot of classic rock.. although he does like to go to sheet music websites and play things at random (top 40 and old classics) and he also has original songs that he and his friend have done in the past that he will pluck at.. but mostly Classic rock stuff like AC/DC, Led Zepplin, etc..
OK.. for now

hey CAGS!! I guess the saying "ask and ye shall recieve" goes true for the forums.. thanks for the questions.. Let's get to answering them..
Wombat does have a DS AND a DS Lite.. so I will borrow whichever one he isnt using if I want to play it.. but usually when I want to play it is usally when Wombat is busy playing something else.. I much prefer the DS Lite... so I will play that.. I do want my own PINK DS Lite.. but I dont think I would play it enough to garner me asking for one..
As for Paper Mario.. I have not played it yet.. but I DO LOVE watching Wombat play it (I am watching him play right now as I type this out) It looks a "teeny bit" complicated for me.. but I would give it shot when I get some time.. I enjoy helping Wombat solve puzzles and I see things he doesnt sometimes.. it makes for a good "team work" game..
As for getting Me and Mrs Cheapy back on the show... you would have to throw that out to the "boys" as a suggestion with some backing.. maybe put it in the CAG Bag.. or start a "thread petition" to get us back on.. Its harder than you would imagine.. Mrs Cheapy is a very busy woman.. and finding time to do the show with all our schedules meshing is a tough thing to accomplish.. but anyone who is interested in having us back.. say something.. make yourself heard!!
Ok Lurknomore.. you are starting to freak me out a little with your questions.. either you really hate my husband or you are really just out to humiliate him as best you can.. either way... KUDOS!!! but I will not always play into that game.. ;)
Wombat doesnt have any "homosexual tendencies"...
As for embarassing moments... I would share.. If I could think of one.. that will have to be a "to be continued" question..
As for our friends.. I would say we have a pretty even split of my friends and his friends.. but his friends are closer (geographically) and we hang out with them alot more often than mine.. but now I would like to consider them all "our friends".. but overall.. I will have to say that Wombat has stayed in touch with alot more people than I have.. but thats my own fault!!
As for honeymoon locations.. Wombat and I went to the Mayan Riviera (south of Cancun, Mexico) It was a short flight.. cheap as balls.. and all inclusive (that means we could drink from 9am til whenever) and this meant more money in our pockets after we got back.. I have heard good things about DR and also about Costa Rica.. but have never been.. For us it was important to have activities to do.. as Wombat has the attention span of a 4 year old and doesnt do well just sitting around and doing nothing.. so Cancun was perfect for us. Specifically the resort we picked was perfect for us.. it had day trips we could go on (Tulum, Chixen Ixta) and on the property was many other things to do (snorkeling, kayaks, etc) Also it was on an eco reserve so it was like being a guest in a zoo.. we did have pools and beaches to go to.. and we did have downtime.. so that is why we did what we did.. But to each there own.. but I know a bunch of people who went to DR and Costa Rica and loved it.. do your research and do yourself a favor and book it through a travel agent.. less stress and they can get you the best deals..
OK.. thanks again for the questions.. Keep em coming.. Ciao for now!!

Mrs. Wombat,
Since Cheapy's parents were on the show a couple weeks ago, some people have been encouraging the guys to have Wombat's parents on. Do you think your inlaws would make good guests on the CAGcast?

Hey Mrs.Wombat it sounds like to me "Rez" might be right down your alley. Have you played it yet?

Thanks for the Kudos. My job has now been done. I'll stop tacitly annoying. But seriously...
I don't really hate Wombat, I just hate the character that he portrays on the CagCast...rather that character really annoys me. But my questions were not to "expose" Wombat or yourself, I assure you. The fact that you welcomed any question and you opened yourself up to any and all challengers...I took that to heart. Nothing more, nothing less. Farewell thread.
Edit: I don't see anything malicious with the "homosexual tendency" question. Allow me to re-phrase, what effeminate qualities does he possess? i.e. does he sit on the toilet to pee, enjoy taking baths, is anally clean(no pun intended), skips down the sidewalk, prissy about how he takes his coffee, etc. Adieu.

Since April 17 is just around the corner, I was wondering if you have filed your tax returns. Are you getting a refund? If so, are you planning to allow Wombat to get a Playstation 3 with the refund since that is the only next-gen system not bought? Maybe you could get your pink DS :).

Hello Cags!!
Wombat's parents would be very good guests on the CAGcast.. but as Wombat said.. it may be more difficult to do.. His father would insult him.. his mom would praise him.. it would just be a good ole time.. maybe someday we can do something with them. I know his mom would really love to get "on the air"
Many CAGs have said that I would love Rez.. but sadly I have not played it.. It may be too fast paced for me.. the fact of the matter when it comes to playing video games.. if you can "die".. I dont like it. Im a real sore loser and if Im not good at something.. I tend to back away from it.. This includes video games ..
Wombat and I do our taxes way in advance.. As soon as we both have our
W-2s from our places of work we give them over to my brother (my accountant) and he does it over a weekend.. We got our refund about 3 weeks ago and it immediately went into our savings.. we will NOT be purchasing any PS3 or pink DS Lite.. we use the refund to get closer to my dream of buying a house.. Wombat may be getting the PS3 in another way.. he is having the big 3-0 birthday in a few weeks.. either he will get it from a "friend" or he will get the money to purchase it on his own.. we will have to wait and see..
Wombat does not speak French at random.. he barely knows the English language.. but he will jump into accents from time to time at random.. he will be British and then Australian and then something else.. Thats always fun..
OH lurknomore... don't go away!! your questions really get me thinking.. when I say "freaking me out".. I just dont know where you are going with these things.. I certainly dont want to set up my husband for some sort of anti-Wombat rant (arent there enough of that).. and I do believe I said I wouldnt "always" play into it.. if the question is something I can answer.. I will.. if its something I am not comfortable with answering or just honestly dont have something to say about.. I wont.. and believe me when I say I understand the malice you feel towards his "character portrayal" on the air. He can come off as a dick and know-it-all at times.. But this is not the Wombat I am married to.. just the one that likes to ruffle some feathers.. Yesterday while he was doing the show.. there was a point in the show where even I wanted to go over to him and slap him.. he can be very annoying.. That is why I was giving you KUDOS for being so honest about your feelings towards him.. As for any "womanly attributes" he may have.. the only thing I can come up with is that he can worry like a woman sometimes.. he gets very uppity and frantic when something isnt the way he expects it to be.. other than that.. Wombat is a man all the way.. right down to the farting, keeping the toilet seat up after taking a wiz, not cleaning up after himself sort of way...
I do hope you stick around the thread, lurknomore.. your questions are some of the most interesting.. although I love any and all questions.. so all you CAGS.. I'm around.. awaiting more questions..
Ciao for now!!

when Wombat goes out to buy a game or "look" for a deal...does he go by himself or do you go with him? does he ask you to go with him? do you enjoy going with him? was there ever a time when you saw a deal before him and told him to buy it?
the ideology of all my question is pretty much in reference to my girlfriend and i. she does enjoy a good game or two but is still not converted into a gamer's wife....not saying i want to change her to be one but it would be nice if she supported my hobby a bit more...for instance, she'll never sit there and watch me play any game...she goes with me to look for a game but as soon as we step inside the store she'll becoming magically tired...i tried taking her to her shopping places first so she wont mind going to my game stores but then those are the times where she really DOES get tired...
i want to make her MrsDemonicAngel...

Just one question for Mrs Wombat…
how do you put up with Wombat? I only have to listen to him for 1 hour a week and that’s enough.
Hello CAGcast community!!
I finally decided to take the plunge and register on CAG so that I could talk to the CAG listener-ship and field any questions about my hubby, Wombat... oh and read all the juicy stuff you all say about the CAGcast and my man..
I listen to every show and even read the podcast thread and realized that I could probably shed some light on the man that is Wombat, if asked..
Anyway, hope I am welcomed warmly and go ahead.. ask away..
hi Mrs. Wombat! tell Wombat to stop showing off his naked body in his secret youtube videos :P

Hey all
I'm gonna go straight into the few questions that were asked.
MrDemonic Angel: All I will say is thank god that Ann Taylor Loft is right next door to EB... Ok.. Seriously, I can handle being in the game stop with him for about 5 minutes.. I will go with him if he knows what he is getting or if he is trading in games (the games fit in my purse.. so I am the designated "carrier of the games") but if he is going to browse.. I usually can't stay with him. I get a headache in the store and my feet start to hurt from standing. So, I usually go shopping next door and we will meet outside at a designated time. And that goes visa versa.. if I want him to go shopping with me.. he will come but will go to EB instead of holding my purse while I try on clothes.. I do occasionally stick around EB and play whatever is on the kiosk game.. Like the last time I went with Wombat.. I played that silly Cloning Clyde game on the 360 while Wombat did his thing.. And magically I made it til he was ready to go.. but that is a rarity for me..In general though, when he brings home a new game.. I will sit and watch him play for a while to see if it is something I can get into or not.. if it is.. then great.. if not.. then we know that it is a game he should play when I say I will go do something else..
Hex Blade: How do I put up with Wombat? I just do.. I married him remember? I knew what I was getting myself into.. Yes.. he can be annoying.. yes.. he is a know it all.. and yes.. he can make me really mad and frustrated with his commentary but you really got to know him to love him. Wombat is a character that a bit bigger than the man I married and I do hope the CAG community realizes that. There are many of you that can't stand him.. and thats ok.. but do realize that he is still a man who outside of the weekly podcast makes a decent living, knows alot about things, and wants to get the most for his money.. AND may occasionally not realize that what he says "on air" can come off a little obnoxious.. Its a little like Howard Stern.. he plays a character.. but in real life.. he actually is a good guy.. so cut Wombat some slack.. and let him piss you off a little.. it just means he is doing his job..
LiK: you found those videos!! damn!! I knew I should of erased them off the hard drive when I could of!! ;) I'll let Wombat know.. thx :P

Q: Wombat has been taking some criticism concerning his peformance on the CAGcast. How does he handle this? Does he brood, gets angry, or does he brush it off?
He also seems to be a very polarizing figure. Some peole love him while others can't stand him. Does this accurately reflect his real life personality?
