hey CAGs, Im about to buy a 360 but i have some questions before i buy it.
Which bundle should i get? Core or Premium? Is there any third party hard drives that are bigger than the normal 20gb hard drive? i really dont care about the wireless but more about the hard drive. Also what games are worth buying besides the good ones like GOW....what are some of your guys personal favorites and reccomendations? Last question is...is there any truth to microsoft releasing a newer version called the 361?(i just heard it by mouth)
Thanks again in advance for the help and i await to hear your thoughts.

Which to get? Premium, granted you don't care about the wireless controllers, but for the price of the HDD you end up getting the wireless controller, the Hig Def cables, a network patch cable, and a headset. Not that the stuff aside from the HDD completely sells the deal, but it's all stuff that you may eventually need to get.
At this point there are no larger HDDs, 20GB is it. I'm sure we'll see something larger come out this year, but for now 20GB is all we have. Also MS is the only drive (though I'm sure there's hacks out there that'll let you use a different drive).
I'm sure others on here can tell you good games, but I really like Saint's Row, I've been playing that quite a bit, also Rainbow Six: Vegas is awesome. I have Oblivion but haven't had a chance to play it (along with Chromehounds). What's nice is that some games have demos that you can pull down to see if you'll like the game before picking it up.
As for the 361, I'm sure it's comming; but when is a good question. I have a feeling we won't see anything until late October or early November so that MS can hit the Christmas season hard again. I also have a feeling that at that time we'll see the Premium system drop to $300 to make way for the newer console to be sold at $400 - $450.

Prepare to spend ~$70-$100 for a wireless adapter or bridge. Those cheap usb adapters do not work.

Incorrect. The poster above has a link to a very cheap, very good solution to 360 wireless capability.

Definently get the Premium bundle. And for wireless Xbox Live,I got the official adapter used for $70, fortunately it was pretty much brand new, although I would bet that other adapters would work, I just wanted to easily connect.
And for games, since you already mentioned Gears, I would recommend Viva Pinata, Kameo, and Saint's Row. Those are the main games I have spent like 10+ hours playing. I haven't gotten Oblivion yet, but I am sure it is good, but I am waiting for the new platinum hits wave to hit, as it is one of those titles.

The hard drive is 20 GB? Mine has hardly anything on it, and it says I have under 9 GB of free space.
Go with the Premium.
I got Project Gotham Racing 3 when I bought my 360. It was really cheap and is a great arcade racing game. Rainbow Six is awesome if you like playing online.

Oshi-
My friend recently got a 360 and has been unable to connect to the internets (ethernet cable isn't long enough) and is holding off on getting the official adapter. I'll have to show him this. Thanks!

dont get dead rising for over $20... the game just gets way too boring after a couple of hours. it is just killing zombie's over and over, and while that may seem fun, it gets dull after using almost every object in the game. rainbow six: vegas and gears of war are my 2 personal favorites right now. it really all depends on your preference of games though.

Dead Rising is definitely worth more than $20. Not $60, but something like... $35-$40.

Rumble Roses? Yechh...
Gears of War is a must have... Rainbow Six Vegas, well, I'm pretty much forcing myself to like it. The online mode is for hardcore gamers, so for me it's frustrating play for half an hour and getting all of 2 kills. Gears is similar online as well... sometimes I'm pretty good, most of the time I suck something awful. I just keep going back to Halo 2 for some reason.
