View Full Version : 360 Strange Freezing Problems

I got Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires used from an EB. Game looked fine, no real deep scratches or marks on it. I played it for about a week with no problems at all. Then I got to a point where the game froze in the middle of a mission. No problem, I restart try again and it freezes again. Not in the same place, but after maybe 10 minutues. I turn it off and try again another day, this time fighting in a different location in the game but it freezes yet again after 10 or 15 minutes.

Could it be my 360 or the disc? If the disc, why would it read it fine and let me play the game perfectly for many hours then all of a sudden not like the game?

I had a similar problem where my 360 was freezing on any disc based game after anywhere from 5 min to 1 hour after starting up the game. Turned the 360 off, back on, and no freezing for hours on end. Another day, same problem, same response to a restart.

After 4 months of this crap, called and got my coffin sent, left the system fully unhooked (hard drive, wireless adapter, and camera all unplugged) while I awaited UPS. Hooked it up this weekend to play Gears, no freezing after an hour and a half of play. Tried again Tuesday night, no freezing after two hours of play. Now I have a coffin I don't need...

So, from my experience, check and see if it does it for other games. If so, try unhooking and disconnecting everything for a while and see if the problem stops. If it's just the game, see if they might let you exchange it past the seven days or try the copy on someone else's 360.

Well it hasn't happened for other games as far as I've noticed. This is the second 360 I've tried it on and same problem both times. My first 360 died, due to an unrelated ring of death. The strange thing is that I've played the game for hours at a time before and now it won't let me play the same game for more than 20 min or so.

Maybe a part of the game disc has errors. Is it happening anywhere in the game or just at certain points?

Well since it's Dynasty Warriors, I don't think you could recreate an exact moment in the game. It just kind of freezes mid mission. It's not necessarily during an attack or something like that.

Have you tried another game?

Yes, everything else works fine. And DW did work fine and now no dice.

That is weird. My 360 just started freezing today. I was playing Fable: TLC and it just freezes. I restart it and a little later it freezes again....but this time i get the 3 red lights and freak out. I restart it again and it freezes as the system is booting up. I call microsoft and troubleshoot it...take off the hard drive, etc. and so far no more problems....I think that I will be calling for a coffin soon though.

I have similar problems with Viva Pinata during the autosaves. Everytime I play, approximately 15minutes in, the game will freeze. After I restart the system, it will play indefinitely - very frustrating.

The only other game I have noticed this with is Gears - same solution applies.

Good luck!

I had a copy of Tiger 07 that would only freeze in the Tiger Challenge against Luke Donald. The entire rest of the game was fine, but I could never get past hole 8 with donald. Wouldn't even freeze on the same hole each time either. So, basically, yeah, it could just be that specific part of the game that the disc has a problem with.

Sounds like my issues. Try disconnecting everything for a while and see if that solves the problem. It worked for me the second time I tried it.

Is funny, yesterday I started playing Tiger Woods 07 against Luke Donald in the Tiger Challenge and my system froze after teeing off for the first time. After restarting the system, it keep freezing while playing the Tiger Challenge. It also froze once at the 360 opening screen.

It was late and I haven't tried another game, will see tonight if the problem is only with Tiger Woods or any other game. I did try some demos on the hard drive and everything was working fine.

I am having this EXACT same problem with my 360. I have about 40 360 games, and it does it on all of them. I can almost time it. It will freeze up around 20-40 minutes in to play. I turn the system off, turn it right back on immediately and the system will not lock up again for the rest of the night. I can literally play the system for 6 hours straight after that first lockup without a hitch.

It's a pain in the fucking ass, man. Try the disconnecting thing. I've only used the 360 twice since then, but no freezes on Gears thus far. Hell, I wish I'd tried this thoroughly before having to repeatedly redo stages in Lost Planet while collecting all the tokens.

Urgh, I feel like "Max," the automated voice retard on the xbox helpline... or whatever his name was, I can't remember right now...

i had the same problem with both need for speeds and rainbow six splitscreen terrorist hunt. it has been fixed after i cleared the cache. only download online updates for the games you know you will play online or it will back up again. try that and see what happens, i am playing rainbow six and need for speed: most wanted fine now (took carbon back cause i thought it was defective).

Yeah I've been having problems with the Rainbow Six terrorist hunt split screen games as well. It only happens right as the mission is starting (right after the screen fades from black) and then only every once in a while. Thought it was just overheating or something but I guess not. Guess I'll have to try clearing the cache then. Thanks

Well, after more testing with my 360, a coffin is on my way to send it for repair to Microsoft. It sucks, this will be my 3rd console. :bomb:

Mine kept freezing during NBA 2k7 and Madden 07. then one day the red lights just came on and it hasn't even worked since.

when the 360 starts freezing, expect death anytime soon

Well my first 360 froze on this game and soon others and did die. I got a brand new one and it is freezing at the same time while playing the same game. I don't think it is the system.

Fuck, I guess I spoke too soon. Still freezing (took an hour of Gears, but it happened). Disregard any previous helpful comments I may have made.

Well, guess I'll see if it keeps up. Glad I have a coffin sitting around.
