Possibly according to this Joystiq article (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/17/rumor-alien-hominid-hd-on-xbla-next-week/):

Rumor: Alien Hominid HD on XBLA next week

Earlier this week somebody over at Xbox.com flipped the wrong switch and activated what looked to be the next set of games for Xbox Live Arcade. Although they quickly course corrected and pulled the page, the URL for Alien Hominid HD is still active (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/a/alienhominidxboxlivearcade/default.htm). They've also updated a few bits of information to the page since accidentally posting and used a spell -check. The earlier new and "imprived" graphics are a sure sign the page was activated too early. The only thing that's a little sad is Alien Hominid looks to be only two player co-op locally, which means no blasting away with your buddy on the other side of our third rock from the sun. So, we don't know if Alien Hominid HD is ready to roll, but it sure looks like Xbox.com is locked, loaded, spell-checked and ready to go.

Game Info:

They've got your spaceship, so blow up anything in your path to get it back. Completely hand-drawn high-definition graphics coupled with old-school game play results in ultimate mayhem. This addictive, side-scrolling shooter features cute, quirky humor and adjustable cartoon gore.
Alien Hominid HD features jump-in-anytime multiplayer action, immersive environments, award-winning bosses, and over 30 fashionable hats. This 2-D console experience comes jam-packed with seven mini-games, including several four-player party games. All You Can Eat, Neutron Ball, and PDA Games will keep the party going for hours on end.

Game Features

Full-blown console title: Alien Hominid is the first full-size console title on Xbox Live Arcade.

Would be nice. So many great games announced for the XBLA, yet we are left to wait. After Christmas EVERY release should have been a home run. Leave games like rootbeer tapper and paperboy as filler for big release weeks. When Halo 3 comes out nobody will care about that weeks XBLA release. That's what Ms. Pacman is for...

This game was alright but I hated the flying parts of the game. I think I'll skip and wait for Castlevania or Double Dragon.

I thought we'd finally have a decent game, but no. They fuck it up by having no online co op. I'll be passing now.

After two weeks of coin-op classics ripped from Midway Arcade Treasures, I think we're due for a Viva Pinata deck of Uno cards. Can't be fun over there with the messy leadership transition, either.

Again, Symphony of the Night as a late-October 'Halloween treat'. I'm just getting you ready for the disappointment now.

I highly doubt SotN won't come out until October.

But this is great if Alien Hominid comes out this week.

As much as I love Alien Hominid, I've already got it. Unless there's something new and exciting about it (which it doesn't really look like there is), I'll probably have to pass.

The logical part of me agrees, but it's hard not to feel anything but extreme pessimism and cynicism when it comes to Live Arcade.

P.S. My 'logical side' still maintains a 1-in-40 chance of the October release coming to pass.

Hopefully it won't exceed 800 points or else it's a no-go for me.

Either way though, much better this than say, I don't know, the original arcade Rampage.

It's amazing everyone actually embraces this crap and pays for it when you could get them all FREE through roms.

playing this game isn't as simple as downloading a ROM and playing it on MAME.
Alien Homind was a PS2/Gamecube game. Unless you're talking about the flash version, which sucks compared to the full featured version, it's not that easily accessible (though finding isos is not exactly a daunting situation.)

if this is 1200 points, I'll still get it, if only for the Yeti scene alone and the PDA games, which are a blast. That'll be a few bucks more than the PS2 version, but convenience is a factor.

A) Questionable legailty is an issue for many people.
B) Live integration such as multiplayer and leaderboards/achievements is a big selling point.
C) Playing on a TV in your living room while sitting on the couch is a big selling point (people with modded Xboxes or PC's with emulators are a tiny, tiny niche of gamers).
D) Many XBLA games aren't available anywhere else (Like one of my favorites, Outpost Kaloki X) or are significantly different (my wife's favorite, Zuma, has a completely different feel on a PC).

Unless it has online play of some sort, I'm not paying more than 800 M$ points for it.

Where did you get "no online co-op" from?

The orange section displays XBOX Live features and it clearly states 2-4 players and its got co-op

EDIT: I see...the game features section is not to descriptive. I hope the picture above tells the real story though.

sounds like it's just for the mini-games. hope that's not the case.

Well, the MSRP of the PS2 and GC version is $19.99* so I'm sure this version (even though it's supposed to have more features) will be cheaper since there is no cost of packaging. I'm willing to go to $10 for sure.

*i know it can be found cheaper

Isn't Alien Hominid a flash game that one can play for free on the net?

There is a flash game, but the console version is completely remade to be a normal console game.

I'm not sure if I liked Alien Hominid enough to buy it again, for 1,000+ Microsoft Points...

Well I haven't played this game yet. So if it's 800 points I will give it a try. If it's more than 800 points forget it. Other than Castlevania being maybe 1200 points I can't see paying more than 800 points for a Live arcade download. Most of the 800 point games should really be 400 points.

Will MS ever lower the price on arcade games to increase sales? I enjoy many of the free demos but see the 800 point price and decide it's not worth it.

Well some of the DLC has been lowered so I'd imagine if it's similar to that, then it's the developer's choice whether or not to lower it. So maybe if you sent a bunch of letters about a specific game, they'd lower it?
