Tommorow (Feb 20th 2007) is National Pancake Day. IHOP is celebrating by offering a free short stack for it's customers. Here's the link explaining in more detail.

The website seems to imply that it is Tuesday (Feb. 20th) not today. Did anyone get free pancakes today (Monday - Feb. 19th)

Most of them are going to pressure you to donate quite hard. So unless you are comfortable saying no to it, be careful. It was hell when I went to the one in Fargo last year...:bomb:

I just went it was good. There wasn't too much pressure to donate... just a box by the door when u left. There was a 20 min wait to sit.

Part of me wants to be a typical CAG and visit every IHOP I can find.. but I'm a bit too lazy these days, unfortunately.
Free pancakes FTW! This is the best made-up holiday ever!

you can't do that, when you walk in, you have to press your thumb on a little screen and it takes your finger print down.. distributing it to every other iHop out there and if your print comes up at a diff iHop, the authorities come.. and kill you.

Me and 11 of my friends got on in some free stacks. It was so worth. Only one other person and myself left a tip. Feel a little bad for the waitress.

Not really worth the hassle, as I have readily available pancake mix in the kitchen.
For those who do attend, donate a couple of bucks for crying out loud.

Man, I thought the charity was Children's Miracle Network. I went to IHOP which was packed, line out the door, so I went to a different IHOP where my friend and I got seated immediately. We eat, leave a couple bucks for tip, and a couple bucks each for the children's hospital to the guys wearing funny hats. Wait, funny hats? Hmm, whatever.
Okay, so later my wife and I go to another IHOP, this time for dinner, in true CAG fashion. This one we're waiting for another friend so I get the literature from the dude in the funny hat. Turns out the hospital is called "Shriner's Hospital" for kids. Okay, sure. So they have this pamphlet called the "Shriner Primer." Turns out these Shriners are a sect of Freemasons and all that jazz with their secret society and all that. Weird stuff. I don't know what that's all about. I guess no one really does, since they're secret and all.
So then I come back to CAG and check out the link and apparently only our area IHOPS have these guys wearing funny fezes that have a sword and the s3kr1t word "HELLA" on them.

I complained to my girlfriend that we were missing out on free pancakes...so she fired up the frying pan and made me some fresh chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream. They were great!
That's my girl :)

Man, worst Pancake Day ever.
First, we sit down... and wait. And wait. And wait. They weren't crowded at all. But we waited ten minutes before we even ordered. The waitress was a complete bitch. In fact, I think I only saw her twice, and both times she was totally attitudinal. My dad orders something and a free small stack, I order only a free small stack, my sister gets some chicken sandwich, and her boyfriend gets chicken tenders.
Then we wait some more. We finally get our food, and, for some reason, one stack of pancakes is slightly larger than the other. Well, no biggie, since they're all free, right? Wrong.
I have no idea how this happened since I left before everyone else was finished, but my dad ended up having to pay for one of the short stacks. The justification was you apparently can only get a free small stack WITH the purchase of something else. I always leave a tip, but since the waitress sucked, I just left a dollar and donated a few more. My dad left a couple bucks and donated a few as well, and since the service sucked, he also said he donated my tip dollar instead of leaving it for the sucky chick. Apparently, she decided to include gratuity in the bill, even though we were a small party and gave her zero trouble. He also claims that they must have overcharged somewhere else because it was five or six bucks more than it should have been.
So, all in all, I don't think I'll ever eat at an IHOP again, free pancakes or not. Sorry little kids dying with cancer who want to see Mickey before you die.

I got invited to go over there so I did. I got some orange juice and a side of hash browns to go with them. We donated a few bucks.
Our visit was around 7:30, and the place was busy, but there were always a few seats available. I was expecting to see a line, but I never did. Quite a few college kids there, unsurprisingly. We got served pretty fast and our waitress seemed to be in a good mood (and so did the other two there). The manager seemed a little stressed out, though (not surprised about that either).

On my second run for dinner at about 7:00 we were seated immediatley and served within about 10 minutes. I was able to "upgrade" to chocolate chip pancakes with whip cream for only a dollar. 8-) Left a tip to the nice waitress (who was our same waitress at 10:30 the same morning) and donated a few bucks to charity. Verry happy with IHOP's service today.
