Has there been any recent news about origins? i have been looking forward to this and it seems to have fallen off the map.

Not that I know of... Last I think I saw of it was at GDC (or somewhere around that time). They didn't show it at the Konami's Gamer's Day (nor MGS). There are SEVERAL dates that have been mentioned but nothing has been confirmed. The two I have seen the most are:
"Fall '07" and "Fall '07 in Europe, early '08 US."
So at least you can expect the earliest it would appear would be sometime during the end of the year.
