Hi all, relatively new to CAG (already saved around 160 bucks though :D ) and I was looking for a 500gig harddrive. Cheapest I have found so far was 136 bucks after tax and shipping. Anyone point me in the direction of something cheaper? Going up to oregon to visit my sister soon so I could ship it to her house and have no sales tax.

Hard Drives are weird......if you're looking for a drive for a USB spare kind of thing, any old one will do. But if you're building a system around the thing, better to buy a brand name with a nice long warranty, like Seagate.

Also, if noise or vibration is a factor, stick to the big names.

try www.pricewatch.com for low priced hard drives, just make sure they dont rape you on shipping wherever you shop.

Also, HD coupons from Staples and such are aslo worth looking into.

the 136 from FW or Hardforums Hot Deals is the best price around right now.
