Yeah, I was trying to deal with some CAG, his offer was 1 9.99 game (Onimusha DOD) for my Rogue Galaxy. I know the game does have some average value around 29.99 new but financially I don't see how it works out. Now if it was a rare game like DDS 1 that would be another story! How do you guys usually deal when trading for the clearanced out games?

The clearance value is temporary and does NOT reflect the value of the actual product.
Your best way of calculating value is an average of the MSRP, ebay's completed item average, and an average of online retailers, not factoring in GCO
However, Rogue Galaxy is a brand new game, a brand new game for a somewhat older game [unless it's rare or maybe next gen] does not merit the trade.
well when I do a trade I dont look at how much the person pay for the product. However I could see RG reaching GH in the future. At the same time all of the Onimusha games are pretty easy to find. Value wise they are not even, but if you give up a game you dont want for a game you want than I wont worry too much. Now personally would I do this trade? Probably not.

what I love is when someone thinks they can offer you the lowest price on an item that it has ever been sold for... even if you actually paid more for it... I tell them to go to the store that had it for a few bucks and buy it there... it can get annoying sometimes when CAGs on here make crap offers
I had one CAG offer me 10 bucks AND a copy of Gun 360 for the XB of Metal Slug 4/5... being the nice person I was and not wanting to take advantage I told him and even swap on the games was fine.. the game only cost me 5 bucks

Yeah I can just see people saying 'OMG Its $1.99 at Best Buy!' no matter that not one Best Buy in the country had any in stock at that price.

I try to be fair and try to trade things of equal value, if its not equal value on my end I either throw in something else or offer to get the person something else so the other person doesn't feel like they are being ripped off. If i paid 1.99 for something I am not going to go and trade it for a 50$ game, that would be wrong, unless by some chance its some extremely rare game which is unlikely. If someone really wanted to trade a more expensive game for a cheaper one because they didn't like it then its fine as long as the other person agrees to the trade. If someone just wants to offer me something that they want to get rid of and the price is lower than ebay, most of the time the person knows that and does not want to be bothered with the ebay hassle so I just buy it and all is good. I conduct game trades all over the net, with people from my IRC channel and people from here (haven't done that in a while, not sure why lol) and wherever else I can find someone to trade. Never been screwed over yet, always get what I pay for.
Regardless of what anyone says, theyll look at what that person paid. Unless its one of the "hot titles" of said clearance. I had a few pm's for the one game I actually found and when I asked for something that was 9.99, and possibly adding more on my end, they pretty much passed because I paid 1.99 for mine and they paid 9.99 for theirs.
Alot of people will also do as stated before where if its 1.99 at the BB clearance, it should be that price everywhere.
I have a lot to say on this subject, but I will limit my comments for now.
Fair market value is what should be used when trading NOT how much someone paid for it. Period. I would never expect someone to trade away Mario Party 7 for a crappy game just because they only paid $2.
One thing I consider is how the value of a game will hold up. I hate trading for a new game (even if it is a fair trade NOW) when I know the new game's value will only drop and I will be able to find it cheap later on.

I see nothing wrong with fellow CAGs offering cost + shipping, and perhaps a little extra.
CAG is about getting games on the cheap, games that you're actually going to play or offer to friends and other members. It's not about making a quick profit.
All trades should be at market value. If youre looking to get clearance type of deals, go to a retail store, not a trading forum.

The value of a game is not what you paid for it, but what it would cost you to replace it if you decided later that you wanted it again.

You mean like the thousands of people that got Oblivion CE for $9.99???
The average eBay closing prices are the street value in my opinion. If you want to give the CAG a break by valuing it at the price you paid in a clearance that would be up to you and you'd be doing them a big favor in my book. A lot of CAGs act like if you don't do this you are a very very bad man. Just keep that in mind.

I dont' think people were talking about profit.
I see the value of the game as its market value, period. Everyone values their games differently, but to expect someone to trade away a good game for a crappy one just because they paid X dollars for it is unfair.

If I get a game on clearance thats commonly found at that price, I would value it at that price. But If I go to best buy and pick up some game for $2, that I got lucky with, and its impossible to find anywhere, I feel no compulsion to offer it to someone for that same $2, if in fact it goes for $40 everywhere else.
This thread reminds me that my lazy ass needs to set up a tradelist already. Its not like I signed up yesterday... lol

I don't expect that, and I'm really not referring to trading anyway. I just think it's unfair to pickup a clearance game on the sole purpose of flipping on eBay or CAG to make a profit. I guess I'm in the minority that buys games to actually play them. Like you said, people value their games differently so trading is much more different in my opinion.
It's the equivalent of buying a PS3/Wii/360 just to sell, just only in a smaller monetary scale.
