Fuckin' Bay area bastards are making me sad about my lack of arcade-ness.

And yeah, we need more pics. I'd join in, but I simply cannot do so before the packages arrive. Might need a new cabinet since I don't think I'll have enough room for all these components, but at least that'll enable me to have my SNES and Xbox hooked up again (meaning, I have to buy even more cables... joy.)

Here's a bunch of my crap minus a lot of older gen stuff that is packed away. Actually just moved it all into a crawlspace and it fit well but it's hell to take pics with all the pipes in the way. Plus I need to replace that DVD bookcase with some nicer stands that Chacrana recommended - THANKS!

Once I get my current gaming setup cleaned up a bit, I will post those as well!

Edit: Oh, and Galv, is there anywhere you can put shelves in a room without a giant pipe? :lol: If you've got some bare walls, cover 'em with shelves and use that pipe room for some crap you don't use. Maybe move shit from your gaming room to the pipe room and put the games out in the open? Or just get rid of Gundam Wing and save space.

Games? All my systems shown are modded (Except for the PS3, but still don't have any games for). I do have games, but they are packed away as I tend to play my backups more and keep actual copies in my closet. I have way too many Cube, 360, Wii, Xbox, DS, N64, NES, SNES etc. stuff packed away.

Wire- Its not long enough to run neatly and I don't feel like buying longer cords just so I don't have to see 4 feet of it behind my TV.

There isn't anything light in the stand and all the components have rubber feet. I haven't noticed any rattles, but the bass is loud/heavy as all hell since it does have the whole center around it. It feels like a theatre.

If I ever get enough space (read- when I move in a couple of years), I'll probably do the same thing. You should probably either throw away (or at least put in your closet) the Wii and PS2 boxes that are under the TV stand. Also, the game room... while you have less games now, it seems like the area is filled with more clutter (or maybe you just did a good job of cleaning before you took the old pic). Definitely a nice set-up though.:applause:

I don't know why you don't like them where they are though. :D

Unfortunately my game room has become the "storage for shower/wedding gifts that we don't have any use/room for in an apartment yet" room, which is okay, because that means I get to keep my PS2 out in the living room with nowhere to sit in the game room. Hence the clutter. Wasn't even room to back up as far away as I did for the original picture.

You're somewhat correct. I don't have three TV's; I have six (from 14" up to 60"). Although, to be fair, 2 of them aren't being used and are just taking up space because I haven't found anyone willing to buy them yet. I've also got a KDS-50A2000, but the only thing connected to it is a ViP211. I admire your taste in televisions, though. ;)

Now that is how next-gen games should be played. Poet - have you tried messing around with speaker placement at all? They look a little off to me, I think you would get a much better sound if you raised/angled the L/R to closer to ear level (I'm assuming those are the boxes on the floor) and gave the sub some breathing room.

True, I'm very happy with it. As far as moving the speakers around, the only other placements I've tried are moving the speakers up on top of the cabinet (I didn't want to bother with stands). From my limited experimentation, it didn't make enough of a difference for me to detect (if at all). Those aperion speakers pack a LOT of power, and considering that I'm in a _relatively_ enclosed space, it fills the room very easily.

Nope, I've never been in the military. I'm sort of a neat freak though. I take good care of my video game collection and my DVD collection (over 530 deep) is just as neat.

I usually play MVC2 on my current setup and I haven't noticed any sort of lag on my HD set. Either that or I haven't detected enough lag to seriously annoy me.

Yeah, most are new and sealed. I have a ton of games and am a bit embarrassed at how many I have. I play as much as I can, but I have a family and don't get much time to play. I got into the habit of "I will play this one day".

You buy games for the thrill of purchasing a new game. I was/am the same way. I'm too much of a CAG when I see a game for a good price it has to be mine even if I never am going to play it :)

Yeah there is definitely some of that going on :lol: . It was always hard for me to pass up a good, cheap game. I was really bad for my PS2, Xbox, and GBA eras. However, I have learned that I will not get to a lot of games and new systems will come out that I'll want to play. So I am going for quality over quantity for future generations. So far so good...;)

Can't you use a vga box if you're tv has it? Video processing lag varies between manufacturer and even models by the same manufacturer.

Ive never really ahd any major issues with anything out of proportion. tonight i will switch it over and try a few games out. But I am also in teh process of selecting a new tv (50+" 1080p DLP) and this will be banished to the bedroom. :-) My major issues is that i cannot adjust sat. or hue sicne my firmware is only 1.03. but i really dont have any complaints, as im fairly pleased. but ill try it out and see if its better or not.

seanr, congrats! How many games were you at before you scaled back?

Getting rid of the glut of games (which I blame CAG for mostly ;) ) is one of the best things I've ever done. My total collection for the Xbox, 360, GC, and Wii fit nicely on one shelf with plenty of room for more. And a few are just games I've not yet played. I'm sure we'll be clearing out more as I go through them. :)

A good disposable income always helps. Having kept every game and not gotten rid of them for over 2 decades is another. There's different types of people who game and at same time collect though. For me, I like quality games than anything else, try to keep as few clunkers as possible. I know quite a few people though who go to shops, thrifts and garage sales or whatever but they will buy whatever they see even if they had no interest in it to start just to have it, like this 1 guy who buys doubles and triples of every game he has and just keeps them sealed. He has no intention of ever playing them, a certified nut if I ever saw one.

metalstorm you desperately reminded me how much I need to bulk up on authentic video games from the 16bit era. Genesis and SNES were my childhood and I sold off 50% of my games mostly the good ones like Mario RPG.

The Virtual Console, ROMs, and XBLA just don't match the feeling of having to blow into an SNES cartridge 10 times to get your copy of Super Mario World too work.

Yeah maybe, it would be quite close to the wall then. How does the air flow round the 360 work ? Does it intake at the bottom and output from the back, that's what I always thought.

I'd be worried about it having a decent airflow out of the back if it was so close to the wall.

Miller might I reccommend what I did to my room. Cleaned it all out. Tucked all the old gen stuff away because realisticly I don't play them much, but still have them available like in a closet. Get a nice refurbished 32" LCD HDTv if your on a budget and set up your consoles, wires everything neat. Get rid of stuff in your room you don't need anymore. Right now in my small-medium sized room I have my bed in the corner, a dresser with my Westinghouse 32" LCD HDTV(32w6 model), Creative I-Trigue L3500 2.1 speakers, and my PS3 and 360 on opposite sides of the TV. I have 6 dressers, 5 have clothes, the top lefts have all my game related stuff. So my room is pretty much empty and in the corner I have my router and cable modem. I want to get a small futon so when friends or whatever come over we can watch Blu-ray movies, play games, watch tv, etc.

Might I mention my model TV also displays standard stuff very, very nicely for an HDTV. If I had my TV and all those old school consoles I would get a composite switcher and hook em all up. My brother brought his Wii upstairs and with friends we played Mario Strikers Charged and through composite it looks good.

I always say that whomever gets pwn3d the hardest in a game night can take it home with them. I've had no takers.

As for having a ton of gamer friends, yes, I do. I also try to spread the gospel of gaming to my non-gamer friends, that's why I make sure there's hardcore and crossover stuff at the parties. It is cool to see people who have never gamed before pick up the Wii and roll. No, it's actually ok with the new Elite. Runs much cooler than the old ones.

There's a good six inches of space behind it, where the air gets dispelled. Left it on for a good couple of hours last night and it was still much cooler than the Wii gets after 20 minutes.

Finished college and got a job lol, i didnt always have this much believe me, im probably making up for that now somehow :lol:. And some of those are still probably sealed, but thanks to this site i buy more than i actually need, but at a fraction of the price of course, those crappy 15 are probably bargain bin or clearance finds, or b2g1 fillers from eb/gs, and theres still 89 PS2 (most rpgs) games and about 30 xbox and 30 gc games not even pictured. But many arent worth trading in or selling, and some crappy games can actually be enjoyable if you look past the flaws.

In the middle of the room, there's a center speaker, and the positioning makes sense based on where people sit in the room (it's not directly in front of the TV.) The two speakers you haven't seen are in the back, and taking a picture of those would be boring, so I won't do it. They're the same as the front L and R speakers. Of course, there's also the requisite PS3 and 360 (which doesn't see much use), and the Dreamcast is hidden behind the speaker. It doesn't get as much use as it used to, but whatever. Also, that's a fridge on the right.

Yeah, I looked at my collection like a week ago and just got rid of like 10 games or so... I'll keep a game if it's excellent and I really think it's worth playing again, but that's usually not the case. Hence why a lot of RPGs have gotten the boot semi-recently, even if they're good like Tales of Eternia.

well the question now, aside from all the DVDs and movies, how often do most people in this thread finish a game. I'm not saying 100% complete, but at least the end.With games I'm pretty OCC. (If I start it, I have to finish it, and if I don't get all the extra crap, I have to get pretty close, or at least everything I can get by not being on live or online.) So my backlog is pretty hefty. Shooters can be done in a couple days if I'm loving it. Other games take longer.

RPGs take me forever. I'm still importing all my pokemon into Diamond (six a day)... I started in September, and I've left the game on in sleep mode once or twice, and the other day I crossed the 200hour mark. But I spend a lot of time with pokemon trying to breed a perfect this or that.

I'm impressed with the condition of your older stuff.
I use to have way more, and tons of rare games on Saturn and PS1 (like Valkyrie Profile, Albert Odyssey, Burning Rangers, non GH FFVII, etc.). But, I eventually let some stuff go. Like I mentioned before, I might ditch all that old school stuff I have except my SNES and PS1 soon (only because I'll be moving and can't take everything with me, when I finish college and find a job somewhere).

I got around to taking pictures of my gaming collection. I am missing pictures of my NES and SNES games. The NES Games ar in the plastic bag at the bottom of the shelf. I'm still working on trying to tidy up my room. The boxes under my tv are only there untill I sell what's in them on eBay. I'm also thinking about selling my NES as most of the games I wanted to play were stolen from me years ago and I have them on the Wii or GC.

I am also mising pictures of my DVDs and my bookcase. I'll end up taking more pictures once I get the room in a more organized mess. :lol:

Whh... what's this? DVD player is from Oppo (981HD), the receiver is a Pioneer ELITE (because I'm classy) VSX80-TXV, and the speakers are from SVS!?!?! Only the TV is from SONY. WTF!?

In the middle of the room, there's a center speaker, and the positioning makes sense based on where people sit in the room (it's not directly in front of the TV.) The two speakers you haven't seen are in the back, and taking a picture of those would be boring, so I won't do it. They're the same as the front L and R speakers. Of course, there's also the requisite PS3 and 360 (which doesn't see much use), and the Dreamcast is hidden behind the speaker. It doesn't get as much use as it used to, but whatever. Also, that's a fridge on the right.

Very impressive collection but sweet jesus, get your parents (or grandparents?) to let you redo that friggin room! The furniture and wallpaper are a MAJOR detractor to that otherwise excellent collection.
