Does anybody know anything about the GBMs EXT port pinout? It has to serve the dual function of charging and linking, so it must be more complicated than the EXT/EXT1 ports found on GBAs and SPs.

Recall that the GBA SP actually had 2 ports... One of them was for power/headphones, and the other was the link port. If you look at a GBA SP charger, you'll see that it's actually pretty simple; i.e., there are only 2 metal pins (most likely for power/ground) and no other connections. It's probably trivially more complex to add in that functionality into the link port.

If you're at all technically inclined, take a look at these links:

The first link has the GBA link cable pinouts. The 2nd link is Troz1820's instructions on how to build a GC to GBM cable. Between the two, I think you should be able to deduce the pinout. If not, try sending him a PM? He may have some insight.

Thanks! I remember that thread about the GC->GBM cable, but forgot it had anything related to the pinout. I'm not heavily into the technical side of things, I was just curious because it was a combined port.

On a side note, isn't the EXT2 port on SPs also the audio output? I never picked up the headphone dongle becuase it was so hard to come by in the UK.

Pins 1 and 8 are the ones used for charging. Pins 2-7 are the link pins. Can't remember off the top of my head what each specific pin is.

Thanks - but I have another question. Is the GBMs EXT port still capable of outputting audio like the EXT2 on SPs? Or was this removed in the link/charging combining (it's no longer necessary because the GBM has a 3.5mm jack?
