I was going to BB today they had a tv I needed (my picture tube died). so I go there be nice ask the guy for this tv
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1083537537895&skuId=6395073&product CategoryId=cat03003&type=product

He went got the forklift they were on a high shelf. He starts to get the one off of the end next to a giant pipe. I know the tv is heavy he starts pulling it off the shelf. (no prob so far) then he picks it up about 2 feet off the ground then drops its (medium prob). he begans trying to turn it to get it off the shelf I tell him I do not want that one no more. he gets mad and explains to me how he would have to take and move every tv down on the shelf. I tell him no prob I have time to wait, so the guy on the lift begins trying to turn the tv and starts ramming it againt the pipe(big prob) my sis asks me is that my (she took me)tv I say no the guy looks at me and says you wanted this tv did'nt you, I told my sis what has happend so far. I say not that one he has in his hands he gets mad walks over to another guy in the tv dep and points at me and starts laughing and making jokes. so I said hey shaq fu it I am going CC and as well you people need to learn how to treat products right. they start laughing at what I said. I told them shaq-fu this store and walked out.

sorry for the long rant I was about to punch someone still mad. it was 3 hours ago.

You should've asked if their PRP/PSP covers that...

Damn that sucks, TVs dont like being dropped! I would have told the manager, and written to corporate. I then would have bought the tv from CC, and scanned the receipt in and sent it to the BB manager and corporate.

I work at Best Buy, and I can say that it's very uncustomary for employees to act that way. You should have went to a manager immediately and you could have gotten both of those employees instantly fired.

yeah, if people treated me that crappy I would have gotten a manager. The least they would have done is give them a warning. But at least send an email to corporate, I'm sure they may send you coupon or maybe even some best buy bucks.

id have raised holy-hell. every customer in the store wouldve known what was going on. shoulda tried to get that douche to have to appologize to you in front of everyone on the sales floor, then told'em youre driving to cc to buy that product.

Damn straight. Next time stand up for your right to purchase a non-dropped TV.

You should have started yelling something like, " Hey Butterfingers, can you get me a TV without DROPPING it ? " Really loud so the manager can hear it.

Or maybe this, "You need to go to the gym more often because right now your a worthless bag of skin. By the way, why haven't they FIRED your ass yet for being incompetent."

Report it to corporate. I remember Cheapy having problems with BB and they sent him a gift card.

I am a quiet person unless you shaq-fu with me. I thought about it I did not raise hell I would do something to them the worst thing I could do to BB........ I went to CC early today and bought it. I tell you the man's name was jeff it was the CC by the dayton mall (in ohio) he was so helpful I mean this man was helping me like CC had his kids tied up in the back and would kill them if he did not give the best service ever. I wish now I would of found the manager and told him how good he was he had product knowledge down to a "T" was so helpful and nice. I think I will call tomorrow and tell the manager how helpful he was.

:D like his kids were tied up in back. ha

serious do that, it goes a long way. it would be even better if you could get that praise to his district/area manager.

If I know the exact model of something I want and the price is right, I'll shop at Best Buy. If there's something that I have questions about (like when we were buying a camcorder) I'll go the Circuit City. The sales reps there seem to be more willing to spend a little time and answer questions instead of "this is the one you need, how about an extra battery?".
I TRIED to buy a computer at Best Buy a few years ago, but the sales rep wouldn't help us. He was standing in the middle of the computer department screwing around with the screen saver on a little eMachine. When I told him that we were buying a computer for my wife, he said "sorry, I can't help you right now" and continued to fiddle.
We left in a huff and drove like 3 minutes to Circuit City. I cornered the first sales rep I could find in the computer department and asked if he wanted to sell a computer TODAY. He didn't start drooling and fangs didn't come out, he just said, "well, let's see if we have what you need". I knew the features we wanted and simply needed to know which brand would suit our needs. After we explained the configuration we were looking for, he actually moved all the displays around so two or three that met our needs were next to each other so we could compare them. After picking one that worked for us, he started ringing up the sale, and I actually had to ask him if an extended warranty was available. He laughed and said "oh yeah, I guess I should have asked huh?" He went over the details of the warranty (with paper in hand, and not the shuck and jive I get at Best Buy). We ended up getting that as well. After he loaded it in our car with us, I went back into the store and told the manager what a great experience we had. Later, when we bought our all-in-one printer and camcorder at the same store, I made an effort to find the same manager and let him know that his one associate made the difference when we made our choice of who was getting our business.

it all depends on that particular employee. Great people work at my BB an I'd never hesitate to go there for anything. On the other hand, there are some CC's that I will never walk into again (unless they have $4.99 games) because a particular employee is an asshole.

You should DEFINATELY give the salesperson some praise to the manager IN PERSON. Face to face means much more and will be remembered while a phone call gets lost in the shuffle because of it's effortleslsness.

No one ever hesitates to complain, but very rarly does anyone bother to dish out a compliment. We need more of these good people to be promoted into management positions who will deal fairly with customers.

And be sure to have CC put a replacement plan line item on your reciept, even if you don't buy it. That will burn BB up extra bad.

Corporate offices rule.

If you complain to them about anything they give you free stuff. Blockbuster offered me tons of free rentals when I complained about their employee calling me a "liar" to my face.

whats sad is that this tv that was dropped you know is just going to be put back in place and the next unsuspecting customer who wants that model will take it home use it, and it might not be broken out all... then again something could have loosened internally and a year down the line the video inputs will just stop working and HE WILL NEVER KNOW WHY

Nowhere in your rant did you indicate that you told the employee why you didn't want 'that' TV. Most people are assuming you told him, and you probably did, but without that assumption, it reads like this:

Employee moves heavy TV on top shelf.
You: "I don't want that one."
Employee: "I'll have to move every TV."
You: "I don't care how difficult I make your job for no apparent reason."
Employee gets another TV.
You: "I don't want that one either."

I'm sure that isn't how it happened, but if you did tell him something like "any TV you drop is a TV I'm not buying," that would be good information to include in your story. The only place in your story where you mentioned telling them that they need to treat the products better was the point at which you left the store.

The biggest problem with this is that people suddenly take such an idea to an extreme and complain about EVERYTHING in an attempt to get something free. I've seen it, and it's possibly one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. If you complain and get something free, hey, icing on the cake, but you should REALLY be complaining to increase the quality of service and not much more.

At my old position for the company I'm with, I had to read and resolve every complain letter we received. After a while within the first paragraph you got a feel for what the person wanted. They usually fell into three groups:

1) someone has a real problem and wanted help fixing it
2) someone has a real problem and wanted to bring it to our attention
3) someone wanted a handout

While we worked on resolving all of them, we were usually more inclined to give the "freebie" treatment to the people that actually deserved it and didn't ask for it.
