6/22 Update 2: Phoenix Cypher confirmed that the Action Replay code works; it unlocks all of the the EBA in single player, and Agent J and Neko in multiplayer. Neko also makes a special appearance in the final song in single-player mode. I'll let Phoenix explain:
I've done some testing with the code. It works both with R4 and the actual Action Replay :D
I'll repost what I have stated over at GameFAQs.
Regarding the part where Chieftain and Divas replacing their respective counterparts in the Hard and Cheer Girl difficulty, it is confirmed. Again, they replace BOTH red and blue teams.
However, in SSAY (the final song), where both team leaders are on screen, this changes. On the Red team, it will be the EBA (the leader of that difficulty). On the blue team, it is the Cat. What's rather hilarious is the cat comes with some of the features of that difficulty's Blue Ouendan. Which means in Hard mode, it has the Bluendan leader's hair, and in Insane, it has Rin (cheergirl leader for Bluendan)'s hairstyle.
Multiplayer
I tested multiplayer (I have both original and the ROM). Agent J takes up the final slot of the Red team, and the Cat takes up the final slot of the blue team. There appears to be no way to choose any of the other Agents unfortunately as far as I know.
That's my report for now.
6/22: I was doing research on AR codes when I stumbled upon this code topic over at the ever-useful 2chan:
http://game12.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/gameurawaza/1179399284/
I was scrolling down when I hit it, post #98, the answer to our problem.
Translated:
The EBA characters can be enabled with this code:
@EBA MODE (Action Replay DS)
220D7397 00000001
*Game ID: AO2J-B9A91626 (Might be needed to add an Ouendan 2 entry to the AR list.
I have done some limited testing with this code on a clean save, and even now, I'm surprised. I started up the game, and found the EBA Badge icon on the single player difficulty select menu. As expected, I went into normal mode, went into the first song, and found that the EBA are in fact just new dancing skins for the Ouendan; they don't appear in any cutscenes, they still use the Ouendan voice clips and animations, and even the cutaways still feature the Ouendan leader. Oh, and it looks like the Agents replace both teams. As for the Cat, it looks like he is selectable in multiplayer. [He also appears in the final song in each difficulty]
But that's not all... Curious, I went into easy mode, where the leader was, instead of J, Agent Spin. This means that Agent J may just be the tip of the iceberg. [CONFIRMED] Agent Chieftain and the Divas should be available in their respective difficulties.

Ouendan Info
This time around, you are going to be able to play as two rival Ouendan teams, the team from the original game and a new team clad in blue/white outfits. You play as one team in some levels, and the other team in other levels.
[Official Name: 夕日町応援団 (Yuuhi-cho Ouendan/Evening Sun Town Ouendan)] Superior Ouendan/Red Team
[Mode: Name - New feature (If any)]
Backups:Saitou Atsushi- Different Sideburns; Suzuki Ittetsu- Small beard
Easy Mode: Tanaka Hajime - Sports a spiffy hat, now during cutscenes and dance sequences
Normal Mode: Ippongi Ryuuta - His hair is longer and spikier.
Hard Mode: Doumeki Kai - Hair now lethally spiky, wears wooden sandals instead of shoes
Insane Mode Cheer Girls: Kanda Aoi, Amemiya Sayaka (Leader), Anna Lindhearst
[Official Name: 朝日町応援団 (Asahi-cho Ouendan/Morning Sun Town Ouendan)] Noble Ouendan/Blue Team
[Mode: Name - Distinguishing feature]
Backups: Moriyama Tsuyoshi- Bald, Glasses; Sugita Kenshin- Orange hair with a long braided ponytail
Easy Mode: Kikuchi Shinta - Kid with the short brown hair
Normal Mode: Saionji Hayato - The guy with the long blond hair
Hard Mode: Kiryuuin Kaoru - White hair, wears a cape during cutscenes
Insane Mode Cheer Girls: Kawai Honoka, Shirosaki Rin (Leader), Minazuki Reika
[Others]
Elite Beat Agents
Backups, Agent Morris, Agent Derek
Easy: Agent Spin
Normal: Agent J
Hard: Agent Chieftain
Insane: Elite Beat Divas
Special: Neko (Cat) - Primarily used in multiplayer, but he makes a special appearance as the Blue team leader in the final song, with a hairstyle that changes depending on the difficulty level.
Interesting factoid about both teams: The Yuuhi-cho Ouendan logo uses the Kanji for "Ouen" (Cheer). The Asahi-cho Ouendan logo, upon closer examination, has a similar idea behind it. Instead of Kanji, it spells Ouen using English characters. Just put all of the letters in order by going from the top letter to the bottom letter.
Some Stage Info
I'll only go over a few things, and I'll probably only update the Returning Characters section.
- The first stage has the Zenryoku Shonen song. It features Hanada Tsuyoshi, the student from the first stage of the original game, and his family. Now out of college, Tsuyoshi is looking for a job, sending out 100 applications, but getting 99 rejection notices. It is the job of the Superior Ouendan to once again help Tsuyoshi, only this time, it is to cheer him through an interview, which he hopes would give him a job at the company's New York branch.
- The Ramen Stand Owner's Cat will have a mini scenario at the end of the Training sequence. In this short stage, which has the same Ouendan training song (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/aosj/bgm/ouen.swf) from the first game, you must help the Cat outrun a very angry looking dog.
- Returning characters: Hanada Tsuyoshi, The Hanada Family, the News Announcer,Neko (Cat), Shin and Shizu (Couple from the Matsuri stage), Meowzilla ("Nyaragon"), Joe and Dan, Kazebayashi Shizuyama (Pottery Master), and Tanaka Yasushi/"Tan Yao" (Ramen Shop owner).
Graphical Changes
- More detailed characters, better animation. For example, the Ouendan now run onto the lower screen when a stage begins, instead of just sliding into the scene. The Cheer Girls enter the scene by doing cartwheels.
- Spinner now has a flame design.
Gameplay Elements returning from EBA...
-Easier Spinners, DS Download Play, Ghost Vs., Replay Save (See Next Section), Intro Skip, Hidden Stages.
-Download Play songs: Rirura Riruha, Okuru Kotoba, VISTA, Shounen Heart, and Bambina
5 songs, one for each multiplayer stage, and you can only play in vs. mode.
New Gameplay Elements
-Replay Save has changed somewhat. Instead of having 1 replay for each stage like in EBA, you have 20 replay save slots. You can save multiple replays for one stage if you want to.
-You can skip the final song's ending after seeing it once (EBA fans should be happy about this one).
-The Map is in 3D, but unlike EBA, this is a 3D map of the town. It is split up into two sections: The Superior Ouendan have the left half of town, the Noble Ouendan have the right half of town.
Final Stage/Secret Stage
First, I'll go over the Final Stage Song
Much Like EBA, the final stage has two parts.
The first part of the stage uses the song COUNTDOWN by hyde. The second part uses Sekai wa Sore wo Ai to yobundaze by Sambomaster.
Now it's time for the secret stage information:
There are three secret stages, they use the songs (Along with the total points/rank required to unlock them):
1) Monkey Magic by Orange Range (6 million points/4th rank)
2) Glamorous Sky by NANA starring Mika Nakashima (10 million points/6th rank)
3) Samurai Blue by ZZ (25 million points/9th rank)
So, ya' gonna order this or what?

6/22: I was doing research on potential methods to unlock EBA mode, my interest piqued by the point made on other forums that EBA mode was already on the DS Cart, with the Download Station acting as the key to unlock it, similar to the Animal Crossing and Nintendogs items. Anyways, I was doing research when I stumbled upon this code topic over at the ever-useful 2chan:
http://game12.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/gameurawaza/1179399284/
I was scrolling down when I hit it, post #98, the answer to our problem:
98 :23:2007/06/21(木) 20:57:17 ID:hIHvkfHo
EBAのキャラクターが使用可能になるコードできました。
@EBAモード解禁(ARDS用)
220D7397 00000001
or perhaps this would be better translated:
The EBA characters can be enabled with this code:
@EBA MODE (Action Replay DS)
220D7397 00000001
I have done some limited testing with this code on a clean save, and even now, I'm surprised. I started up the game, and found the EBA Badge icon on the single player difficulty select menu. As expected, I went into normal mode, went into the first song, and found that the EBA are in fact just new dancing skins for the Ouendan; they don't appear in any cutscenes, they still use the Ouendan voice clips, and even the cutaways are still feature the Ouendan leader. Oh, and it looks like Agents J, Derek, and Morris replace both teams. As for the Cat, it looks like he might only be available in multiplayer.
But that's not all... Curious, I went into easy mode, where the leader was, instead of J, Agent Spin. This means that Agent J may just be the tip of the iceberg. Theoretically, Agent Chieftain and the Divas should be available in their respective difficulties.
How to help: I don't have an actual Action Replay. I tested this out using the AR cheat function of the R4 on a clean ROM. Thus, this code is largely untested, and I will need some volunteers to test out this code on an actual Action Replay. It should work, since it looks like this code just sets off the correct flag for the EBA mode. Right now I'm interested in finding out about the new multiplayer characters and if my theories about Chieftain and the Divas are correct.
Touch-DS: Official Gameplay Videos (http://touch-ds.jp/mfs/ouendan2/)
6/21: A few weeks ago, over at GameFAQs, Asho posted some interesting things that he found while rummaging through the sound files of the game: Voices for Agent J and the Cat, as playable multiplayer characters. At the time, everyone just wrote it off as an intended feature that was axed during development.
Well, recently, Nintendo confirmed the purpose of these strange voice clips by updating the official Ouendan 2 web site with a new link:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/ao2j/omake/index.html (Translation (http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nintendo.co.jp%2Fds%2 Fao2j%2Fomake%2Findex.html&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8))
Yes, with the touch of an icon at the character select screen or the multiplayer screen, the Elite Beat Agents and the Cat are playable characters. The EBA in Ouendan 2 can be played in any difficulty, and they are effectively new skins for the characters they are replacing, so they use the Ouendan/Cheerleader dance moves.
But...
It's Japan-only. Yes, as the official web site says, the EBA and the Cat can only be attained by downloading them from a DS Station. In Japan. Between June 26th and July 11th.
5/30: Just some minor housekeeping. I suggest checking out Sleepmix's Ouendan & EBA fansite above, even though it is entirely in Japanese, it still has useful info in the form of beat counts, rank prizes, 2chan thread archives, etc.
5/17: Today is the game's official release date, so any stores that did not break the release date should be shipping it out today. The Official Website was updated, some new sections were added for some of the single-player scenarios, and it also has some multiplayer information. Also, I updated the Ouendan info section with Nintendo's official names for the rival cheer teams.
I've decided to reorganize the topic post, now only the most recent update will be in this post, above the dotted line. The previous update messages will be stored in Post #4.
5/16: Some interesting info went up on GameFAQs recently. A user by the name of Asho posted a link to a 2Chan thread (http://game11.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/handygame/1179214005/). This discussion topic started with an Ouendan/EBA FAQ, and went into Ouendan 2 (Apparently, quite a few stores in Japan broke the release date). At the end of the FAQ, the user posted an Ouendan 2 song list, which seems to include the 3 remaining songs. If this topic is to be believed, then the only songs left to reveal are:
族 (Zoku) - Kishidan - MySpace (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=947013704)
Samurai Blue - ZZ - Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Byv56kFMJ8)
COUNTDOWN - hyde - Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCTrSL9i1EM)
Since the release date has been broken, some folks already have it. Over at GameFAQs, Magus12000 is answering questions, and it seems that these songs are in the game.
5/14: Over at GameFAQs, Yabun_no_Indou noticed that a new commercial was added at the TouchDS site: http://touch-ds.jp/mediagallery/st68.html (Just click その2 below the video to access the new commercial). In this commercial, four more songs were revealed:
Monkey Magic - Orange Range
Glamorous Sky - Mika Nakashima (NANA)
世界はそれを愛と呼ぶんだぜ (The Thing that the World Calls Love) - Sambomaster
Music Hour - Porno Graffiti
5/11: Website is above, and though it's under construction, it still features the character bios for both teams (Except for the cheer girls, who have been revealed in a scan from a few days ago). There are also some videos of OTO2's tutorial, which ends with a small scenario involving a returning character ;).
What also came out recently was the OTO2 demo at the DS Download Stations in Japan. Tankbeat has his play session up at Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fdLZ_aykfI
It seems to be similar to the EBA demo in America; uses only the first two segments of a song, normal mode characters with the easy mode patterns. Unlike the EBA demo, it doesn't use the first stage, which is presumably the stage with the mangaka, using Sukima Switch's "Zenryoku Shonen." Instead, the demo uses checkers' "Oh, My Julia" as a song, and the level takes place inside a hair salon.
5/9: New gameplay videos have been added! The first box is the TV commercial, the second box is some gameplay info, and the links below the boxes are various game play clips of people playing different levels on different difficulty settings.
http://touch-ds.jp/mfs/ouendan2/
4/11: Minor update today. Famitsu posted their Ouendan 2 article online, which is the source of the song list. Also revealed was Doumeki Kai's return to being the hard mode red team leader , along with the corresponding hard mode Blue team leader, a tall guy with silver hair. A new scenario is also revealed in this article, you play as the blue team and help a struggling school chorus practice for an upcoming event. Finally, the article has some screens of Ouendan 2's multiplayer mode, with the hard mode cheerleaders helping rival soccer players. Check it out here:

4/10 UPDATE: First, the release date was finally announced. Mark your calendars, because it's pretty close.
Second:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150378
12 of the 19 songs have been confirmed in the neogaf topic:

少年ハート (Shounen Heart) - Homemade Kazoku
BANG!BANG!バカンス (Bang! Bang! Vacation) - smap
Believe - AI
リルラ リルハ (Rirura Riruha/Real Life, Real Heart) - Kaela Kimura
贈る言葉 (Okuru Kotoba) - Flow
バンビーナ (Bambina) - Hotei Tomoyasu
全力少年 (Zenryoku Shonen) - Sukima Switch
ジュリアに傷心 (Oh, My Julia) - checkers
Go my way - Hitomi Yaida
POP STAR - Ken Hirai
3/27:
New scans from the Japanese magazine "Nintendo Dream" were posted up at Kotaku.
Link: http://kotaku.com/gaming/gallery/snazzy-ouendan-2-scans-246982.php
Here's the info that I could glean from the scans:
- The Student from the first game is now an aspiring mangaka who is trying to find a publisher.
- Judging by the screenshots and the big headline reading "Rival Dojos!" on scan 2. Each team will have a unique dance style, which seem to be described by the titles that are next to the Squad Leaders.
- Here are the titles:
Red Ouendan (From the first game): Kokou no Ouendan - According to JWPCE's dictionary, kokou means aloofness. "Reserved Ouendan" might be appropriate, seeing as how their dance style is rather straightforward.
Blue Ouendan: Kouketsu no Ouendan - Kouketsu means Noble or Pure. "Noble Ouendan" would be an appropriate name considering their logo.
- The lead cheerleaders for easy mode will be:
Red Ouendan: Tanaka Hajime (Sporting a spiffy new hat)
Blue Ouendan: Kikuchi Shinta (The kid with the short brown hair)
- For normal mode:
Red Ouendan: Ippongi Ryuta
Blue Ouendan: Saionji Hayato
- "Zenryoku Shonen" and "VISTA" are once again confirmed to be songs in the game.
Also, there are plenty of new screenshots over at Jeux-France:
http://www.jeux-france.com/images_5672.html?Nbr_images_pages=128
3/08:
First up is a new scan appeared in Famitsu. The original scans were pretty blurry, but at NeoGAF, neo2046 uploaded a clean scan into imagevenue:
EDIT: The original link's dead, sorry.
Someone over at 2ch is translating the article, and it contains some interesting new details:
- The biggie: this time, there will be a rival Ouendan, which is the squad that's dressed in blue. Not much is known about them, except that their squad leader's name is Saionji, and he's the one with the long blonde hair.
- Two stages are confirmed so far:
1) A sequel to the first scenario of the original game, the one with "Loop & Loop." This time, it seems that the student has graduated and is either at a job or trying to find a job (I can't tell from the screenshots), and his family is distracting him.
2) A shoe salesman is trying to sell his surplus of shoes on an alien planet.
- Two songs have been confirmed in the article:
1) Former Student's stage: "ZENRYOKU-SHONEN" by SUKIMA-SWITCH
2) Shoe Salesman's stage: "VISTA" by Going Under Ground
- There will be some graphical changes:
1) The spinner has a flame design now.
2) It looks like the flames of encouragement have a new cel-shaded design.
3) Suzuki (The squad member with the Mohawk) now sports a small beard.
Another recent event was Keiichi Yano's "From "Ouendan!" to "Help!": Inside the Elite Beat Agents" presentation. He presented concept art from OTO and EBA, made a few jokes, took in a few questions, and showed some art and screenshots of Saionji's Squad.

I hope the spinners are more like the EBA ones instead of the original Ouendan ones. Not that I can't do the spinners, but the ones in EBA seem to be just right, compared to the ones in Ouendan where 95%+ of my misses are the spinners, and I feel like I'm going to damage the screen or myself doing them half the time.
All I'm saying is, I prefer the music in Ouendan, but lately I find myself playing EBA more, mostly because the spinners in Ouendan annoy me too much. The worst one was when I missed the final spinner on hard on Ready Steady Go.... and if I hadn't, I would've S Ranked that level. :bomb:

I was certainly surprised to learn that Homemade Kazoku's song was the second opening theme for Eureka Seven, that one was my favorite opening for the show.

I can't get an S rank even on the easiest setting.i would have to say the HARDEST song to S was the very first one on EASY, simply because the there were only 50 beats and the beats themselves were so slow i almost ALWAYS got 100 instead of 300, that was when i wanted to throw my DS out the door, on another note i easily clocked in over 50 hours of my time on this game, rocking my friend on insane RSG was just uber fun :D

All the S Ranks I have on both Elite Beat Agents & Ouendan are on the two hardest difficulties. I'm sure part of it is that those are really the only ones I play, but I've tried going back to the slower levels several times, and it's just too slow to get the timing right.
Anyway, May 17th is way earlier than I was expecting. The only import game I've bought before was Ouendan, and I got that after it had been out for awhile, so how's this work? Do I pretty much have to preorder to get it anywhere near the release date?

19 is actually what I was expecting, cosidering that's how many songs EBA has. More songs would be better of course, but considering how much time I've spent on the original with just 15 songs, it'll still be more than worth the price.

Not sure what you are talking about....under the "Play-Asia.com Order #"? at the top?
I do have a checkmark next to "Preparing Order". On the details (Product Name) it shows that I have a QTY of 1.
Here's what I'm talking about. Under the "Order Value" section in the Order number page, you'll see something like this (except in columns):Product name
Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 (Japan, No Region Protection)
Release date May 16, 2007
Qty.
1
Price/Unit

For the folks who have already had their cards charged -- inbetween the Product name and Qty. columns, is there a circled checkmark there? (That's the checkmark that means "Available/Reserved for your order/Ready for dispatch.")

I'm sorry, I forgot about the part of this board where I wasn't allowed to say I enjoy one iteration of a game more than another for the sake of conversation.
It's not about being able to express your opinion on the board, rather it's about this happening over and over again unnecessarily, whenever EBA or Ouendan are mentioned. There's already at least one thread dedicated entirely to the subject. No need to clutter other threads with more argument provocation, in my opinion.
Besides, I forgot the part of this board where I wasn't allowed to comment on another's post for the sake of conversation. We're all just expressing opinions, it seems.

I'm sorry you took it as an argumentative comment, but it definitely wasn't. I just like Ouendan more. In fact, I didn't even say Ouendan was better, I say I enjoyed its charm more. It'd be different I had just right out declared Ouendan the better version as flame bait.
I better stop now, lest I get this thread too cluttered!

Some interesting info went up on GameFAQs recently.
族 (Zoku) - Kishidan
Samurai Blue - ZZ - Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Byv56kFMJ8)
COUNTDOWN - hyde - Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCTrSL9i1EM)
But as Asho pointed out, these songs should still be under scrutiny since there's been no official confirmation.
As for the replies in the 2ch topic, they provide some interesting information about EBA features that are returning in this sequel:
-Easier to recover from mistakes
-Intro Skip
-Ghost Vs. (And I'm assuming that replay save is included with this)
-DS Download Play (Though not many details were given)
The topic also has quite a bit of fluff (Monkey Magic? Monkeys are cute!; Ouendan 3 should be a anime/tv show compilation!). Though, there's still something that bothers me... but I'll check it out later.

Yeah, I chose the cheapest- economy box. The past times I've dealt with Playasia, I get orders in about a week. For example, I just ordered a NSMB DS pouch that shipped May 9, and I just got it today, a week later. I'm fine with a week for shipping, and since I'm already paying a pretty penny for a DS game, I'm not about to hike it to $70.
I noticed something on their site, though. They call the original game "Ouendan", while this new game has the full name. Why wouldn't they list the original as "Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan"? Just curious.

Seeing as how I get a lot more enjoyment out of my DS than my consoles these days, it's a no brainer. $15 isn't a very high price to pay to get a game months before anyone else can get the comparable US version, EBA 2.

$50 is expensive of course. But it's definitely worth it. As far as I'm concerned, Ouendan/EBA are the best reasons to own a DS. I mean I paid $50 for the first one, and I definitely don't regret that for a second. And this one has more songs, and all the improvments that were added for EBA as well(I would assume it would anyway). And I know I'll get more time out of this than almost any DS game that would cost $30 or so.
I checked play-asia today, and it says my order shipped on the 15th! So now I guess it's a race to finish Pokemon before Ouendan 2 gets here, because once it does I know every other game I have here will get ignored for quite some time.

I played through 4 songs last night. It's alright, basically has everything that separated EBA from Ouendan.* Song choice is still whatever. It's obviously not much of a sequel but more of an expansion. The one thing is that it looks like at some point you might be doing some dancing duels against some Fabio-esqe pretty boy, which could be pretty cool.
*Yes, that means it's easier than Ouendan, and it seems the spinners in this are even easier than the ones in EBA.

It's kinda hard for me to tell because it's been a long time since I played the normal songs, I think this game's "normal" mode was easier than either EBA's our Ouendan 1's. Even on a replay through the normal to unlock the again on another cart, I had more problems beating the songs on the first two than on this one. I failed the last song twice on O2 before beating it with a B rank. On normal it doesn't compare to RSG or JJF.
On to the "real" mode in hard now, though. :)

I don't think I'll mind the spinners being easy, since they're really just there to annoy me anyway it seems(and I'm still bitter about not having an S rank on Insane mode Ready Steady Go because I missed the very last spinner).
It seems to me that it's hard to rank these games in difficulty. Aside from the spinners, I thought EBA was just as hard if not harder than Ouendan. On Ouendan, I can just pick it up and play through RSG anytime, with only the spinners messing me up. On EBA, JJF always gives me trouble with the spinners & the long beat patterns in the third section.
From what I've seen though, Ouendan 2 looks like it'll be harder than either the first one or EBA, except for the spinners. Which is pretty much what I wanted them to do anyway.

So far, its like all the great features (keyword there is features, not music) of EBA combined with the awesomeness that is the original Ouendan. I'm liking all the songs. Although some of the covers aren't nearly are good as the originals (where as the original Ouendan had pretty much good covers all around).
I don't see the point of the rival group. One side of the map is entirely the rivals (blue), while the other side is our favorite heroes (red). The map markers hold up colored flags of the group that completed them, but I don't see the point of that either since you can't choose which group to play with. Either the song belongs to red, or the song belongs to blue.
Is it better than the original Ouendan? I think so. Coupled with the EBA improvements, and a bunch of songs that I like right off the bat, I'm enjoying it much more so.
Also, the story for the 'sad song' isn't as good as the original, but the song used for the 'sad song' is much better than Over The Distance (imo).
Those are my impressions thus far.

It's nice to see some Ouendan love from CAG! <3
I got my copy on the 17th (yeah, I went with the FedEx shipping, I just had to have my Ouendan right away). Everything about this game is just so polished, and is better than both Ouendan and EBA. The song list is excellent (last song is the best so far, in my opinion), the scenarios are funny and interesting, the beat patterns are all around better, and you can now skip both the intro AND end of the songs, which is great for when you're trying to get high scores. I guess my only complaint is that you can't pick any squad member you want to play the difficulty with, because Ryuuta and Hayato are so awesome. Oh well.
This game makes me so excited for EBA2, because I just know they're going to take all of the great things from this (rival Agents!) and expand on it even more. I just hope the song list is better than EBA1's... I got Ouendan after EBA, and spent much more time playing it because of the songs.
Also (cool feature you may not want to know)
The mode where the timer circles around the beat markers disappear is going to drive hardcore Ouendan freaks nuts!

Actually I had thought it would've been cool if this game would've had the Ouendan vs. Elite Beat Agents, instead of the rival blue ouendan. But then I guess they're saving that for later(we all know they'll go there eventually).
And yeah, Play-Asia is very fast at shipping. I wasn't expecting it, but my copy was in the mail today. I've already played through easy and most of normal, and unlocked the first bonus song(which is hilarious). So far, I think the game is definitely harder than the first one. It's easier to recover, but the beat patterns seem harder, which is what I like(that's one of the big things I preferred about EBA as well). Also the spinners are easy, which is a big plus. I don't like the soundtrack as much as the first one, but it's still good, and I know as I learn the beat patterns I'll like the songs better(since that's exactly what happened on both of the previous games).

I still haven't recieved mine yet, which means probably tomorrow since the mailman already came. Oh well not that it matters since I let my cousin borrow my DS a week and a half ago and he keeps forgetting to return it.
...Bastard better return it soon or I'm going to drive over to his house and slap him up.
I know I've read a lot of opinions that this game is too easy... yeah, I'm just not seeing it. I flew through the original Ouedan after finishing EBA. But this one... this one is giving me the kind of fight that EBA originally did. Some songs I'll get through on the first try, but others really mess me up.
In any case, I would say that this one is unquestionably the hardest one in the series so far.
I think that the difficulty depends on the person playing it. I've been playing Ouendan and EBA since the beginning of time, and because of that, I feel that Ouendan 2 was kinda easy. I think I'm quite good at the game.
Don't get me wrong though. Ouendan gameplay is priceless and absolute fun, and I love the soundtrack on this game more than the other ones. I did have trouble on more of the songs as the difficulty ramped up, but compared to Ouendan, I flew through this game fairly quickly.
Thankfully though, there is that new option where the enclosing circles disappear. That is absolutely hard, and I love it. :D
Great songs, with a similar difficulty, new options, and lots of improvements to the overall system, make this the absolute perfect Ouendan.
Now I have to work on getting S ranks.
Congrats to everyone who got their copies. Hope you guys are having as much fun as the rest of us, or more!

Beat it on Normal Mode pretty quickly. Only had to retry a few of the songs at all (and I think a max of three tries was needed), made Bs or As on pretty much all of them. I dunno, I thought it was pretty easy, but I guess having EBA/Ouendan experience under my belt made the difference. One thing I will say is that I think the patterns are more creative and sometimes trickier.

When I mentioned the difficulty, I didn't mean this one was particularly that difficult, just compared to the other 2 it is harder. I mean, I still basically flew through the game, given that I haven't even had it for 48 hours yet and I'm already on the last song on hard(or whatever it's called... the one with Kai & the guy with the blue dreadlocks).
But for someone who had never played one of these before, Ouendan 2 would be harder to start with than either of the previous two.
One thing I'm very happy about is the use of beats on top of slides. They used it once in EBA, and you could just tell that was where they wanted to go next.
Once you get to the higher difficulties, as usual the game gets a lot more fun. The last two levels in particular are crazy, and while I was originally not sold on the last song, playing it on hard really makes it shine.
After giving the game a bit of time, I'm liking the soundtrack a lot better also. Believe is way better than Over the Distance and You're the Inspiration(and I liked both of those anyway). I definitely like at least half the songs in here, and more importantly, I don't dislike any of them.

Yes, those darn beats on top of slides caused me quite a bit of trouble in this game. Once I got used to them though, it just got more fun to play. :D

I've beat Easy, and an working on Medium. It's okay, but I can't wait to unlock hard. Then it'll get fun. I've unlocked the first bonus song, too. I like the bonus song mechanic.
Once I get throguh hard I might go back and try to A-rank everything- S is too hard for me :P. I think I only have 2 S's thus far.
Through medium now, on to hard...
If anyone knows of a place to, uh, obtain the music from this game (originals, not covers, and preferrably all in one swoop) I'd appreciate it.

I'm still working on the last song on hard. I can get through the first 3 sections easily now... but that last section is crazy. I love it though! :D
Also, I've unlocked all the bonus songs. Samurai Blue is definitely one of the best levels in the game. The song's good, the story is good, and the beat pattern is fun & tricky. I think that one, the werewolf level(I don't know the song's name), and Bambina(the bed-wetting kid level) are my favorites so far, but there are plenty of other good levels.
The weakest ones IMO are Pop Star(which is still ok) and the level with the giant robot fighting Meowzilla(which is a weird cameo anyway), mainly because I still don't really know what the beat of that song is(if it even has one) for the fast sections. I think I've only managed to make it through that one twice on hard so far, but then again that's also due to me not really playing that level very much.

I've done the first four stages so far. I'm not digging the songs as much as the first Ouendan or EBA, but they're still alright, and it's still early. And I'm also finding the scenarios less obvious to understand this time, but that's probably just me.

I very much agree with you. The stories either have way more text than previous games, or they are just sooo crazy, that it makes it that much harder to figure out what's going on. Kinda makes me want to play more just to figure it out though.

The only story that really confused me initially was the one with the old man, but then I read an explanation for it over at gamefaqs(it's a funny twist on a Japanese children's story).
It took a bit for the music to fell right for me as well. But after giving it some time, I like the songs in this one even better than the first one.
I beat hard today... and the girls' levels really are insane this time. I'm working on it, and I've finished about 5-6 songs on there so far, but I really don't want to even think about trying to get by Samurai Blue or the last two songs with the bar draining that fast.

Countdown is a tough one on hard, but you'll get it eventually. The end part is mostly hard because of beat markers on top of slides. They throw that at you because you need to be ready- the last song is filled with them, and they mix the pattern up a bunch of times to try to mess with you. :D
And yeah, I think Samurai Blue is my favorite level in the game. Several others are competing for that spot though. And actually, I kind of like Countdown- it's a much better song than Without a Fight in EBA at the least, and it's got a harder beat map as well- the only thing they really share is that they're both really fast and short.
I've got 2 S ranks on hard so far(the very first song, and the one with the sumo). I should have 3, but I was just a few points shy of an A rank I already have(this was on the second bonus song) so it didn't get saved as the top score. It's there in the top 3 if you look in options though of course, so does it count? Not to me it doesn't! :)

Hooray! I finally beat hard mode this morning. On normal, I thought the final 2 songs were easy compared to EBA and Ouendan 1. Because of this, I was expecting an easier ride on hard. Didn't happen, though. Countdown I got through relatively quickly, but the final song took 2 or 3 hours of replaying to get it, and I'd say it's the toughest hard mode final of all of them.
