Waiting for the Miyamoto keynote to start, I’m sitting three rows from the front. Close enough to see Nintendo’s resident BMOC, Reggie Fils-Aime at the front of the crowd, working it with his trademark smile and good will. He poses for pictures, he signs Wiimotes, he presses the flesh with a good natured ease that would make even the most seasoned politician weep with envy.

“Kick his ass and take his name!” someone shouted from a few rows behind me.

“Who?” answered Reggie in mid-autograph.

“Phil Harrison, front row!” Sure enough, there was Phil Harrison, seated dead center, front row. Looks like he could show up on time for Nintendo’s keynote, but not Sony’s.

With a grin and a chuckle, Reggie replies, “Some would say we’ve already done that.”

Touchdown. The crowd goes wild.

That's almost as amazingly cool yet nerdy as that kefka cosplayer yelling at the sephiroth cosplayer- "momma's boy!"

Kudos to Reggie, and I'm sure Phil was a good sport with it.

People are still slobbering over Reggie? Where was this guy from 1995-2005? Those awesome ideas he supposedly always has, and the rhetoric he constantly spouts, could have came in handy while the N64 and GameCube were getting their asses kicked by the PSOne and PS2.

He wasn't with Nintendo at the time, well not until 2003.

Edit: That's according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggie_Fils-Aime

Someone must have had their name taken by Reggie and is still bitter about it.

That is a pretty funny quote if it is true. I hope Reggie just couldn't restrain himself and that he cringed as he said it, though. Seeing as how Nintendo's console is ahead of Sony's for 4 months out of the last what.....decade?? Heh, if this exchange becomes well known, Reggie might live to regret it.

Reggie was also in attendance for Phil's keynote speech.

Pretty sure he was brought in to revamp the image of VH1 and another company before nintendo, with great results. I'm thinking it might have been Pizza Hut. Either way, Reggie is a far more liked and approachable company figurehead. Aggressive without having to resort to half truths, and all with a sense of humor and confidence.

Harrison just seems to make things up half the time. Not as bad as Kaz, though.

Frankly, Reggie is a breath of fresh air after dealing with Hiroshi Yamauchi for all those years.

God damn Reggie is awesome. Is there a reason why they might not put him in Super Smash Bros Brawl? Because I can't think of any.

Now knowing this, he has become my favorite person ever.

Never been a Reggie fan myself.
Seems like a loud oaf.

Hehe, I don't think I've ever described anyone as being a loud oaf before.

Reggie is a complete unprofessional loud guy with no class, this makes him stand out, this makes nintendo stand out. He talks to much shit and hot air 95% but i guess thats what makes a good sales man, makes you feel pumped up from nothing but emptyness of the time he has nothing new to say or anything worth hearing but people like his voice and his style. I hate him because of the way he answers questions. In an interview phil will give you an answer most of the time but with reggie not one solid answer. Talk to you for an hour and you take maybe 5 good sentences with you

Every time I agree with VanillaGorilla, the ghost of Francisco Franco sits down to a refreshing drink brewed from the souls of only the tiniest kittens and ducklings. Every time I agree with VanillaGorilla, countless extra-terrestrial lives are lost as their planets are sucked into newly formed black holes, ripping them apart molecule by molecule. Every time I agree with VanillaGorilla, a new form of cancer is born. Having said that...
So, he was with Pizza Hut? If it was his idea to discontinue the Insider/Triple Decker Pizza, I hope he falls down a well and gets eaten be gnomes.
... I agree.

Can we send them over a cliff, plummeting to their death together? That would be awesome. Hell, throw Peter Moore in there as well.

Panasonic, take the blinders off. They're all salesmen, and Harrison talks just as much crap if not more than Reggie.

Don't you remember, "rumble is not a next gen feature" weeks before they settled with immersion? Or touting their superior backwards compatability, and now removing the EE from consoles?
