Several years ago, Rockstar Games reached out to would-be DJs everywhere with Beaterator (http://beaterator.rockstargames.com/index2.html). Offered for free on its Web site, the flash-based application allowed users to create their own tracks using various drum loops and samples crafted by major club DJs such as Juan Atkins and King Britt.

Soon, gamers will be able to mix music on their PlayStation Portables. Today, Rockstar announced its Leeds studio, which developed the two Grand Theft Auto PSP games, is readying a version of Beaterator for Sony's handheld. Set for release this summer, the game will feature new sounds created by famed hip-hop producer Timbaland, who has worked with such artists as Nas, Jay-Z, and Missy Elliot.

Though it contained effusive statements of excitement from Timbaland and Rockstar founder Sam Houser, the Beaterator announcement was short on details about the PSP title's gameplay. All it said was that Beaterator is a "powerful music mixer with robust beatmaking features" and will sport an "addictive collection of original music and rhythm games and challenge modes."
Even though I'm not into hip hop, this could be interesting if it's more than just an MTV Music Generator clone.

I have my apprehensions considering it's from the WASP's at Rockstar. I will admit they've put good music for Hip-Hop/Rap on their previous shit but for something like this I DON'T want Timbaland because most of what mainstream "Hip-Hop" people are putting out right now is shit.
Afrika Bambatta should slap them, Foxy Brown should slap herself for "Broken Silence", KRS One should bitchslap himself, etc.

It's a Sony game, not Rockstar, and it's only a Europe release. If you want it on the PSP, just import it since their no region-locking for PSP games.

Hmm I had heard Rockstar was gonna publish it here.. Where's a good place to get it? The only import site I've bought at is Play Asia, and they only have Europe games.

I'm not sure about it's status in coming to the US, but Play Asia (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-bj-47-froogle-70-1x3s.html) does have it available for purchase. While it seems to be the Korean, it looks to be mostly in English anyway. The only downpoints seem to the high price and a delay in shipping. If you're interested in the game, this might be one of the few chances to get it.
