Which game has the better single player mode? Time splitters 2 or Future Perfect?

I liked 2 a heck of a lot better than Future Perfect.

I loved timesplitters 2, clocked in countless hours just playing the assualt modes alone.

Future perfect was a let down, it was like they were trying to push their campy story over the gameplay and level design that took the center stage in the previous games.

So, yeah definetly Timesplitters 2 or even 1 over Future Perfect.

I liked the second game over Future Perfect, but what this thread is really about to me, is that we need another entry in this series for the 360/PS3 generation. I'm sure the sales of all three games don't make a great case for it, but cross my fingers I will.

There's got to be the goofier side of FPSes (that runs at 60 FPS) for us to enjoy. I can only take so much of the levity-free settings that just about every entry in this genre is set in these days. And no, Team Fortress 2 alone ain't cuttin' it.

2 was the best in the series. 3 was decent at best. I blame EA for numero 3

Neither, just buy a different FPS all together.

I liked them all. Such fun games. Probably like Future Perfect the best since it was online.

I rented Future Perfect and really liked it. Then I got TimeSplitters 2 and I could not even finish it. It was a pre-Halo console FPS and the controls felt really wonky.

FT was a very solid shooter.

I didn't like 2. Never played FP.

I didn't like 2 very much, but I enjoyed the hell out of Future Perfect, especially on co-op.

2 was my favorite. FP gave me motion sickness so I had to stop.

If you are a framerate whore, only 2 had 60fps. FP was 30 at best.

Personally I think 2 was a better game all around.

I'd say FP had the better Story mode, but that's by a slim margin. The tradeoff is basically coherency for the Wild West level, or less variety for a non-crappy endgame.

Which is to say that TS2 had a downright unplayable endgame but better level variety.

Whereas TS3 had more cohesion and design, but less variety.

The botplay is competent in each.

I'd say get whichever you can get cheaper. I'd rather have the Halo-style grenades, myself, but TS2's Notre Dame, Chicago, and Wild West levels make it not too shabby.

2 easily. It's one of my favorite games. FP was great too, just not as good as 2 IMO.

TS2. Taking out the challenge and the crazy unlockables was a big mistake in FP. (online play is nice though).

I felt that TS2 was really loose feeling in the controls.

TS2's version of challenge: "Enemies with pistols take off 75% hp with one hit. And they don't miss, either!"

Not sure what u mean.

TS2 is the "mostly" fave among fans, but many folks prefer the more cohesive story found in TSFP. Trophies and unlockables are much harder to earn in TS2, increasing the level of time and effort players must invest.

Not sure what u mean.

That the final two levels represented a step down and a long fall off a steep cliff respectively in quality.

Its very hard to choose

I love both of em

Probably go with Future Perfect though.

You guys never cease to surprise me. ;)

Umm... The last level does seem something of a throw away, but I would in no means let that bias me against TS2. I would think its weakness falls more with the fixed gun sequences being weak. Considering the quality of many games, esp FPS games, I think the standout qualities of TS2 allow it to exceed many, many other console FPS' released in the last gen.

As far as controls, there are 2 major control schemes used, one that keeps the crosshairs centered, and one that allows the crosshairs to move more fluidly across the screen -- I can't remember what the styles are called (but it is likely someone here will know).

Considering how cheap each title is these days, I would say it is a good investment to pick up both TS2 and TS:FP.

I really liked TimeSplitters 2 better than the others.

I played Future Perfect and beat it. I loved the story and the way they had the main characters past, present, and future selves play together to solve puzzles. (Computer Puzzle) I thought that was brilliant. However, I liked 2 as well, except it is hard as hell! I never finished 2, but I did indeed like it.

Ok, hopefully you guys can answer a question I've had for a while.

In TS2 multi (I have it for XBox), there are fixed gun emplacements in the training ground.

In TS:FP multi (I have for GC), the gun emplacements are gone.

... so, my question is, were they simply taken out completely for TS:FP or was it just the GC version? I've really been wondering about that for years.

RollingSkull

Well, I can vouch from experience that those gun emplacements were in TS2 (GC)'s Training Ground.

BUT FP has some connection to EA, THE DEVIL!!!1!!

So naturally it must be not very good compared to the others.

FP has 100% less 1920s Chicago and Wild West.

As much as I love FP's story mode, those omissions cannot go unnoticed.

Timesplitters 2 is the better single-player game.

Personally I think TS2 and TSFP complement each other nicely. I personally prefer TS2 and enjoyed the more random nature of the single player game. I did not need the stronger story thread found in TSFP, but, that being said, TSFP is the perfect sequel, bringing together the many loose concepts from TS2 into a cohesive story. Some things could only have been done in TSFP -- the Resident Evil level satire, the Terminator level. the "steam technology" levels, the mulitplayer disco -- all just perfect.
