Proof there.

This sort of crass, thinly-veiled big oil propaganda is completely unbecoming of the Grey Lady, and clearly proof that the anti-global warming extremists control a much larger portion of the media than we thought. I believe a boycott of the NYT is in order for printing this rank anti-GW propaganda. Clearly, the money they get to put out tripe like this is worth more to them than the basic human decency of cleaning the atmosphere.

Those bastards... how dare they disagree with your position! Boycott, no wait... Burn them! Yes! Burn them all at the stake!

Seriously the thing didn't seem all that inflammitory, they certainly do not show much love for the idea of global warming, but the whole thing seems more about a discussion on the accuracies of "An Inconvient Truth" and Al Gore's informational traveling presentations or whatever tehy're called. Just because they disagree with what he presents or even what you or I believe is correct should not send you around calling for their heads, that reaction only makes you seem reactionary than they are.

Lol. That's what I was thinking, did I miss a buyout or something. Might as well claim the same about the BBC since they recently ran a article saying that global warming needs to be study more clearly before jumping to conclusions.

Guys, you don't understand. This isn't just any position. This isn't some tax issue, some paltry disagreement over what is the government's domain etc etc. This is global warming, which is nothing short of scientific fact. That these people deny it is proof that they are, at the very least, on the side of big oil and big industry in this debate, which puts them against our planet and our survival as a species. Don't you all realize that continuing to countenance this side of the argument only gives it power? I cannot overstate the importance of global warming.

My friend, I sincerely hope you aren't falling for the fairy tales of so many hyper-ventilating Right-wingers that news organizations like the NYT are left-leaning, or such nonsense. You seem like an 'all around nice guy' so I shouldn't think to press that sort of nonsense on you.

"hyper-ventilating Right Wingers" Excuse me but you havent obviously read anything in the NY Times Lately. Just because they dont believe in global warming doesnt mean you have to attack us conservatives. You want to see some proof that the NY times is as liberal as it gets go look around here http://www.timeswatch.org/ ..

"Global warming scientific fact" LoL prove the facts just because a few scientist and fellows like Al gore go around telling you its fact , you make it seem as fact. Im sorry but im gonna ride my Ford Escape untill somebody wants to buy me a "environmental friendly car". JUst a suggestion man dont believe all the hype and crap people like Al gore tell you, they are the biggest hypocrites.

Right-wing media, left-wing media. Nah, that ain't it - useless fucking media. Nobody challenges assertions, nobody offers insight. They just say their piece, and act so god-damned "neutral" that any truth gets lost under a thick layer of bullshit*.

The scientific consensus for global warming != proof, but you're just sticking your fingers in your ears at this point.

I dunno man, I think the article says that there are detractors, but also sights a bunch of guys saying, "Yeah, he got a few things here or there wrong, but for the most part, he got it right." Which for a mass market American film is a feat all in of itself.

I don't think any boycotts are in order. Boycotting a organization that agrees with you 90% of the time, for not agreeing with you 100% of the time is counter-productive.

Also, from today's issue, outing the former oil guy that edited all the EPA climate reports downplaying global climate change. (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/20/washington/20climate.html?_r=1&oref=login&pagewanted=print) Can they be in the club again? Can we please stop this senseless boycott?

Agreed and agreed. Of course there's a back and forth about global warming; that's how science works.

OT, if I may be a grammar dick for a moment, it's "cites," Cheese. I only bring it up because your posts are usually cohesive and well-written, so I thought you'd appreciate a small bit of constructive criticism.

Bah, if I cannot get even ONE person on the internets to shut down the opposition by circumventing debate, then I am worthless as a human being!

SpazX wins the thread for being the first to come close to calling me on sarcasm, which is what this post was.

Though I still maintain that delusions that anyone paid by oil companies is a charlatan whereas anyone in favor of GW is pure as angel's snow is certainly a means of shutting down debate... But that's just me digressing.

Dammit, why do you all have to be so damn reasonable?! :P

Y'know, when I wrote it i said to myself, "that's wrong, go back and fix it." but I got lazy.

I can't help but think that the only way you'd believe in global warming is if it came to you in the form of a fart joke. You just don't seem to be a "fact" kind of person, in other words.

As for Timeswatch, they're a subgroup of the frequently discredited Media Research Center. Their perception of the Times' bias is about as sound as asking Rush Limbaugh what he thinks of them.

Wow, none of you must read the times often, as in every single day. (insider joke coming) I wish the Times was a bit more conservative, then I wouldn't be afraid to be seen reading the Metro section when I'm chillin at Starbucks sipping on some Zima.
